Most painful caption loss ever. They've never won the Sanford and led the percussion caption the whole season only to lose it by the slimmest of margins at the last possible moment, to the dynasty who was coming off a sabbatical year. Props to SCV, they were as clutch as any line I've ever seen, but can't help but hurt for BAC.

Unfortunately it seems to happen a lot with Colin's lines. Look at the statistics from when he was at Cadets too. In quite a few years, his lines were leading percussion the whole season until the very end. It's a sad reality but it's competition.

@@blakman7 he writes hard stuff. But if he gets a group like 2013 again. There is no way anyone is beating bc. Also SCVs front was noticeably better than any other group. I’m sure if they let the judge on the field things would be weighted differently.

As much as I truly believe tom rarick is the best percussion writer in the game right now, McNutt’s understanding of melody throughout a drumline is just mind blowing. No other drumline sounds like modern-day BAC, and I don’t think any drumline ever will. It’s truly special.

I love the 3-night average approach. Makes it so much more high stakes for the performers and we see what happens two years in a row - consistency wins.
Always love their books (from a self-education and playing pov) but the writing style isn't my favorite. Everything in it is impressive but always feel the groove/danceability and how it fits into the music isn't like things I enjoy. I liken it to: I like my percussion as an ingredient to the cake, not necessarily the just the icing.
Don't necessarily agree with the finals content bomb they got again for the 2nd year in a row. I do know the pit improved from last year but I also haven't seen a lot video for the pit.
Because SCV won drums on Saturday night I did end up winning my DCI Fantasy League by the slimmest of margins.

But since about 2015, his books have devolved into just a HARSH wall of noise with very little musical creativity. McNutt’s batteries have not played consistently at a dynamic below mezzoforte in years.

@@freshprince1784 Yes, the performers were fantastic. I think it was a disservice to them to have them play a book like this all summer long. It may have been “some of the hardest content ever written” - I don’t think that’s actually true - but to what end? It certainly wasn’t to play good, well-crafted music.

@@fitzgerald1337x uhh BD might have had the hardest book in the entire season. The amount of open space, rhythmic modulations, and the formations BD played definitely are harder. It’s on small margins, but true

@@karmew32 I doubt the collusion you think is happening is happening. It’s possible SCV just played better on the move and their pit cooked (which they did, saw it in person semis and finals.)
