I hadn't seen my hamster in 2 days, and thought he might've died. I lifted the roof of his little villa slightly, and he poked his head out of his bedroom area (which is closed off separately, so lifting the roof, doesn't lift that "ceiling") like "dude ..." and I left him alone again. Hours later, this video popped up, lol.
I needed this because I haven’t seen my robo. I know she’s alive because her food keeps disappearing and I see footprints in her sand. But it does make me really nervous
Is she usually waking up earlier? Bc changing sleeping habits can mean something. But if she is just sleeping long, that's normal. My Syrian is never up before eleven pm, and sometimes I just need to sleep, and then I just don't see him.
Uh, you think ya big boi, throwing three stacks I'ma show you how to ball, you a mismatch Opinionated but I'm always spitting straight facts Throwback, I might throw this on an eight track
I wish I had seen this two days ago, because that’s when I started to not see her. This morning I was really concerned and decided to gently dig through her burrows. She was completely stiff, and her heart wasn’t beating. It really hurts to see her go, I’ve been trying to stay strong but been crying all day, she was only 3.5 months old. RIP Kiwi, I miss you so much.
Findlay Toone so sorry about your loss! I feel for you, when my ham past a few months ago I cried a whole week. He was my very special first hamster.(RIP, Cocoa💔)
OMG only 3 & 1/2 mo old?! 😞 How sad?! Were you checking on her water bottle every day?! Making sure it was working properly, etc? Sometimes they are just born w/problems too, and we can't always tell there is something wrong. I'm sorry for your loss. 💔
My little robo is EXTREMELY nocturnal but with school I'm often up late doing homework anyway so I'm able to hear/see her. Sometimes she doesn't wake up at the normal time and that worries me but then she peeps her little head out as soon as I turn off the light and head to bed. :/
I have a hamster, but it's always good to know more ways of doing things, and for all those getting a hamster or even just wanting one it's always good to learn more about them and how to care for them.
My baby girl just died!! 😭 I am heartbroken, she had stopped coming out and I got curious, started digging her bedding, this all happened a few seconds ago! Found her dead body in her burrows next to her food storage, I am extremely clear of the moment my heart stopped to feel her body cold.. Prayers from my loss, she rests in heaven now.. 😭😞❤🙏
AMEN!!! I can’t stress how much I hate the industry advertising hamsters towards children. They are so far from being a pet for kids it’s unbelievable.
I always panic every time I don’t see my little girl, I look for her every day, I usually turn her wheel so the letters (Woodent Wheel) are on the top of the wheel, if the letters are on either side or upside down I know she is ok... 😄
One day I saw that my hamster hasn’t been out which was very weird because he normally comes out at the same time every day , so I tried the wheel method since I saw it on the internet and the next day I woke up to find my hamsters stuff wasn’t moved at all so I started to panic and I saw something in the corner of my eye and my hamster was running around my floor 😂 turns out he made a burrow in my draws and went in through a hole 🤣🤣 plz worry about ur hamsters and don’t let this happen to u
OMG that happened to me, but she made the hole ON THE LID!!! I woke up in the middle of the night hearing weird sound and oh my, that's when I learn how hard is to catch a roborowsky when they have a whole room to run around .
Just found this channel a few days ago and its heaven for me. I love hamsters but learned after years of having them as pets and being sick constantly that I was allergic to them. I didn't get a new one after the last passed. This channel gives me a hamster fix after nearly 10 years.💗😁
When she was dressed up and showing the tools for the methods 😂. Thanks so much for this my hamster is always in his burrows and I get worried, thanks again! Also if it wasn't for you and a few other people my past hamster ( rip, Cocoa) and my current ham would be living in a TINY cage with only a inch or two of bedding with a horrible two dollar diet! Now he was a nice, big bin tote cage with 6 or 7 inches of bedding and a healthy diet! I'm so thankful that I stumbled upon your channel!
My dwarf hamster just died he looks like sulfur and i watched a video of yours with sulfur and i cried i just missed him so much 2 years and a half is to short.
My hamsters have a weird feeling of time. Muji always starts waking up at 6am with me as I made myself ready and goes to sleep once I'm gone. When I come back around 2pm he wakes up again just to get cuddles and attention 🤣 11pm is the time he works out on his wheel and stopped at midnight cause he knows we go to bed 🥰
Here is a method Spot clean the cage and 24 hours later go through the cage and if you see some soiled bedding then you at least know they are in the cage
This reminds me of the time where my brother didn't know that hamsters loved to burrow so he got extremely scared that Beanz, my syrian hamster, had disappeared. So...the first action he took was to use the wooden ramp to dig up his bedding carefuly to try an find him to make sure he hadn't escaped. When he couldn't find him, he texted me while I was out shopping with my mom that he might've gotten out of his bin cage. So of course I panicked all the way back home and immediately found every single one of his cage accessories mixed up in the bedding like a tornado bad torn the place up. As soon as I opened that bin, there was one undisturbed corner in the opposing side of the bin cage, where he nested. He heard the jingling of his hanging wood chews and had the sleepiest look on his face and slowly came out. I bet he was hella confused and oblivious to what hadhappened while he peacefully slept. 💀 I was only gone for an hour when this happened.
I remember when I hadn't seen my hamster for a few days. She was old and I decided to take of the roof and check. She didn't move like she would usually so I shook it slightly. No movement then I poked her and finally picked her up. She was cold and I remember that horrific feeling.
Thank you. Snowball was my first hamster. She was abandoned and I took her in. your videos helped me know her age and PROPER care. I knew her time was close to an end 😔, your tips here helped me catch it the night of. 💔
Usually my first method if I want to know immediately is that luckily my hamster made his nest in a hide so I gently touch the hide to see if I can feel any heat.
I am here because my hamster didn't come out last night. He used to come out a few times a day to play when he was younger, but now as he's close to 2 years old, he usually only comes out late at night. Some nights earlier than others, some nights without us spending any time together. But yesterday nothing as far as I could see. I heard him inside his house, probably chewing on a toy or some food, but still didn't touched his fresh food during the night. He's just fine when he does come out to play, so it might just be his age. Still I miss the fun we use to have, he is such a tame, sweet and friendly hamster who has had plenty of time outside his cage every day. The thought of fewer moments like that as he is ageing is so sad. I hope to have some time with him tonight!
Just a few days after watching this video, I thought it was strange I hadn’t seen my Syrian before I fell asleep but I thought nothing of it. He was nowhere to be seen in the morning so I placed some food around and marked his wheel like you suggested. I went to work a little nervous and when I came home nothing had changed. I started to panic because I knew something was wrong, but I still went slowly through his bedding to find him curled up in his forever sleep. He was just 3 months old, and the vet determined he was born with a faulty heart. RIP Basil ❤️
This is soooo great, im always worried when i havent seen my baby for a day too, i usually tap around and crinkle the food bag to try to see if he will peek his head out.
The last time my hamster was quiet and I didn’t see them for a day our boy hamster turned out to be a girl and gave birth. Luckily 7 of the 8 babies are alive and doing great!
That's awesome, congrats. The same happened with my rabbit recently too, we were told he was definitely a 2 month old boy. Turned out she was an around 7 month old pregnant girl, the baby is 8 weeks old now and I love her ❤
Hello! i dont wanna type a long long comment but you helped me make sure i had the right care before getting a hamster. i remember binge watching your and Victora raechels vids all day. I had a hamster pompom! sadly he passed last week of old age but I'm thankful l was able to give him a good life THX!
I stay up rlly late (like 12-2) and I still rarely see mine but I do know she is alive cause food is gone and I hear her at night but I still barely ever see her
Them: "I see my hamster every night" "I see my hamster every second night." Me: "You guys are seeing your hamsters?" O.o Honestly, there are times when I don't see my little fella for 4-5 days, as long as the food is disappearing, it doesn't really bother me
Both times this has happened to me they'd actually died. 😭 My sweet dwarf hamsters Delilah & Annabelle. I knew as they'd not ate the food or used toilet.
OMG This has been my life all week! Lol I moved my hammy to a big new enclosure and I haven't seen him at the usual times since. I've been doing the sandbath technique (thought I invented it myself 🤣) all week to make sure he's still there, because the first day I was terrified he escaped when I didn't see him for 24 hours. Then like 3 days in he didn't use his sand bath at all that night and I was really freaking out. so I very gently lifted up his house and saw the bedding shuffle around underneath and closed it right up again. Whew! Thank goodness he was fine. Guess he's just been having so much fun in his new enclosure in the middle of the night that he's tuckered out all day. ❤️🐹
Thank you for this, not seeing Bowie( bi eyed Syrian) all day gave me anxiety like no other. But I did not want to disturb his burrow so this helped immensely.
You could not have timed this any better! I have literally just walked away from my hamster after trying to find a way to see if he is ok without disturbing him as he’s out by now and normally out during the day but we had an emergency tank sos yesterday so he’s in a new home since last night and I was getting really worried. I resorted to using a dim flash light on my phone and eventually we found him then after five minutes he twitched so I was very relieved as we couldn’t see him breathing. Then I walk away to get a drink and then see this posted a minute before. Don’t worry I was able to use the light to cast a shadow from outside in a way he was shadowed from it as I didn’t want blind him. Thankyou for all your helpful videos x
In my hamster case... well... usually hear him eating smth in his hideout or chewing on sticks... if not... Gotta check sandbath... "I see wet area! yeap he is allive". He also loves to eat while sitting on ventilation bars in his terrarium during night. Always leaving there whole bunch of seed shels. Smth around 30% goes down thru the bars so every morning on the cabinet and floor around I see signs of his night life XD His face when im cleaning it up... "Hey, you! Human! What you doing with my stuff?!"
:( I had the sad reality of that happening to me a few days ago. My beloved Dumpling didn’t peek his head out for his morning snack. So I left it. 24 hours later. My boyfriend noticed that Dumpling never got his eat his snack. We kinda ripped the cage open and sure enough. He passed away without any sort of warning of any health issues. I have another little guy named Tofu and I’ve been on watch. I’m so paranoid. But I can understand where everyone’s coming from. They’re small and delicate and you just wanna make sure your little furry guy’s okay. I’m glad this video came up so I don’t feel so bad opening up Tofu’s cage.
I usually shake his treat container :) Or i'll call his name and make clicking noises until he reacts. Then I'll see his nest shake. Sometimes he comes out, but mostly he will just rustle the nest. This lets me know that he's ok without having to disturb him or "rip the roof off". He normally just moves around and turns over and goes right back to sleep. He's a sweetheart and lets his mama check up on him :)
I'm working on it very slowly, hoping to basically convert them all into my "101" video series but those take a lot more planning, scripting and editing that normal videos :)
This video just came out when I noticed he hadn’t touched his food and I found him passed away in his sleep yesterday night...he was such a beautiful little Russian dwarf and I love him so much, keep having to remind myself I won’t see him again
3 weeks ago my Robo Hamster, Krampus (named him and his brother Krampus and Kringle, Kringle passed after 1 year from what we suspect a medical abnormality, he had a hunchback) died suddenly at roughly 2.5 years old. He was so healthy and active, so it was a shock to me, he was showing little sign of old age. I knew something was wrong because I didn't hear him all day (I always could hear him digging and doing other things), found him dead in his nest. Miss him so much, he always was so excited to see me, let me hand feed him and even let me pet him. He was even trained to where I'd tap near his nest and he'd pop out and go to the play area to interact with me. Got another robo now, Ivy, she is still kind of skittish but is warming up slowly.
The outro XD also literally just freaked out that I've not seen my hamster properly for a few days. This happens every so often. I hear her drink and use her wheel when I'm in bed so I know she's OK, but damn I miss seeing her XD curse you little Pancake! Let me love and adore you!
I have really needed this video for about 3 years now... I'm ashamed to admit that I am a nest ripper... Especially with my first/previous hamster, Nutmeg. Nutmeg was a Chinese hamster, and therefore, even more prone to burrowing than other species. Now I have my 2nd hamster, Daisy, who is a Syrian... and I'm still a nest investigator. I suppose it's because I work 3rd shift (12a-8a), so I expect to see them at some point while I'm awake. I have actually used the food method, but not with this specific intention in mind. 🤔 Erin, as always, both informative and highly entertaining! Daisy thanks you from the bottom of her cozy nest! 😁
I own a 39 month old russian dwarf and before quarantaine I hardly saw him anymore. He used to come at the sound of the food bowl but his hearing has gone bad. I had to use tricks like putting certain food out or by using a little ‘rake’ to make lines in his sand bath and hope he stepped in there. Lately though, I figured out he’s awake every day at 10am sharp. Now that I’m at home my standup is over at exactly 10am so after this I’ll have some time to say hello to my old boy :)
I got luckily our little Ginger was very food motivated and his cage sat at the corner of the kitchen so whenever you would start chopping something that he liked he would wake up. It was very entertaining because you would first start to the the substrate shifting, he liked to sleep just completely covered in substrate not in a house. After the substrate shifted enough then you would see a little nose pop up sniffing, and then you would see his head come up, his eyes still shut most of the time he was still asleep and when he was sure if was a carrot or cucumber or something else he loved. He would sit up and stare in your direction until you gave him a piece. This was very useful because if we hadn't seen him in a while we would just start cutting carrots, we also had a specific whistle tone we would only do when we were putting a treat in his cage so we could use either method and he'd wake right up. We always did this later at night so we wouldn't disturb him too much.
Great advice as always Erin. I have done the same thing with the sand when I got my new little Pearl. It was the best feeling to see those little foot prints in the sand bath. 😁
When quarentine happened, she didn't pop up when I came into my room. Usually she's running out to see me when she hears me taking off my jacket. That time she didn't, so I baited her out with a treat. Nothing. 5 minutes later she came out and took the treat. Biggest sigh of relief.
Yup, there are times when I wouldn't be able to wait for Maple, so I'd do little chores around her home that made a SMIDGEN of noise like filling her bowl, refilling her water bottle/bowl... if that didn't make her poke her nose out, I'd leave a treat out lol. The treat always vanished but it never stopped the worry when there was another day of not seeing her! The day she passed... she came out of her house in the middle of the afternoon, very un-Maple. She was moving very.. slow? and kept closing her eyes and... yeah. I think she was going to just rest outside of her house until she went, instead of in her nest. But I took her out, we had a little moment of her wandering around on my lap, then I just kinda cuddled her in a little cloth and kept her warm until she finally passed in my hands. (This was March 31 and I'm still not used to her being gone.) I just assumed she would pass in her nest but thinking back to it... my few past hamsters have all come out and just passed in the middle of their enclosures... hmm. ANYWAYYY... this video is great for tips but obviously I had to laugh at the Lunicorn...
I hadn't seen my hamster all day a couple of weeks ago, and unfortunately my worst fear came true. My little hammy has passed. He had a good life though, I adopted him as a "he's been here for months because he's grown so big and everyone wants the small and cute ones" hamster, and he was so precious. Lazy, greedy but friendly and adorable. He lived for 2 1/2 years when I got him, I put him at about 3 years when he passed. But he had a routine, he got up about 7pm, ran around, then chewed on the cage, I let him out for an hour or so and then he went back to bed. When he didn't get up, or chew the bars I knew something wasn't right. He's gone but not forgotten. Special little guy.
I wish I had known these tricks in the past. Very good ideas, indeed. One thing I have done is switch to transparent (but tinted/colored) plastic nests. If I haven't seen my hamster for a day, I open the cage while talking softly and just set a treat about 6 inches from the front of his nest, and then scratch softly on one of the wooden toys in the cage. I can see my hamster just move ever so slightly, and I then close the cage. He goes right back to sleep, or better yet, comes out and grabs the treat and goes back to sleep. .
This happened to me before, and it turns out my little boy actually passed away. He only lasted a month, he died most likely of bad genetics. Still heartbreaking
I love how you explain how we handle it by “panicking & ripping into his nest & burrows”, yes! I’ve done this I felt So guilty!! Luckily he usually sticks close to the glass so I can spy on him. But he won’t come out for me & hides if he knows I’m spying on him in his wheel
My first hamster passed away in February. She usually woke up around 8, but it was 10 and she wasn't awake. I assumed she was just sleeping in, so I just went to sleep and didn't really worry. woke up the next morning and didnt see any changes in the bedding, anything in the food bowl, it all looked the same. shook the food jar and called out for her, gently tapped on the side of her detolf, nothing was working, so I resorted to gently digging up the burrow, and as you can guess, it wasn't a happy find. Anyways, i recently (march 22) took in my friends dwarf hamster since she couldn't properly care for him, and the first night I had him, i just stayed up until like 3 am watching the cage to make sure he was ok. the first few days was obviously very rough. he was adjusting so i wanted to leave him alone as much as possible, but at the same time, he wasn't touching most of the food, and the wheel seemed like it hadn't been moved, and the bedding hardly looked touched. Honestly I feel so bad for how much i've lifted his hides and dug up his burrows to find him, but he seems to be adjusting and I've figured that the best way for me to check that he's okay through the night is usually to just put a bit of food right at the door of his favorite hide, and its usually not there in the morning, so it makes me feel better. I honestly do this several times throughout the day, just because I feel like its the only way I can know he's ok. Thank you very much for this video, because I really felt like I was just being hyper sensitive. I haven't really been able to find anything else about this, so I appreciate it.
I like to very lightly tap across where they like to burrow and they'll pop out, works especially well with my mouse because she will immediately investigate
I used to rustle the bedding outside my hamsters house or gently bump the roof up a bit, usually a curious nose would pop out. When my hamster Latte passed it was coming close to the 48hr mark when I opened her house and it was not pleasant :( Definitely follow Erins advice as it allows you to mourn properly
Great video. When I'm worried about my hamsters I set up a camera to film them at night. This is particlarly great for when my hamsters are getting older and not very active and I am asleep before they wake up.
usually if I'm nervous 'cause I haven't seen Baby in a while, I'll scruffle the surface of their substrate and call their name gently. if I see movement or hear them rustling around, I know they're probably okay. these are some great ideas to avoid disturbing my hammy altogether! tbh tho, I'm pretty lucky. Baby is just as likely to be awake at 2 pm as they are at 2 am, so I get to see them all the time!
These are great ideas. Luckily I’m pretty lucky to have not had any scares since having my hamster the past year. I’m pretty in tune with her routine and she likes to get up for food and water before going back to sleep. Will definitely keep these in mind though!
I usually make a gentle noise in her cage by rustling the bedding where I know she's not sleeping as this will normally wake her up but without me diving into her nests and burrows. Or I'll leave a treat somewhere specific and see if it's gone in the morning if not I will use the bedding method and then resort to digging her out
Hey Erin, thanks for the lockdown content. I remember seeing in one of your vloggy-type videos you feed your cat a raw diet? Could you do a video about that in the future?
I needed the unicorn dance!😂😂😂 Thank You. I happen to use treats to get Angel out or rustle her substrate. She is very snuggly loves to be out and petted, she has come out random times during the day looks for attention, she will make as much noise as possible to get our attention, she is in the same room as us we have a small efficiency place that is pretty much a large room with tiny kitchen bath situation in a closet like space. So she is right there and we hear hamster construction Constantly and it doesn't bother us because if we hear her, she is ok.😉 But she won't allow you to ignore her she will yell at you. Put your hand in her enclosure to fix something before you hold her and give her attention she will climb on your hand and go up your arm before you know it, but luckily I've gotten good at stopping her before she makes it all the way up. She likes sitting over my heart and being petted. She sits there and happily chirps away giving me kisses every so often. We do this multiple times a day, have these little moments, she definitely can tell when I need some extra attention, like after a Trigeminal Neuralgia pain attack, if I am having a bad day I have noticed that she will be out during the day and looking for Attention, my husband will take her out and give her some Love but she won't sit for him like she does for me, she is exactly how I see most female Syrian hamsters behave and how she is in her enclosure, All over the place. I am still baffled by how calm and snuggly she gets when I am holding her and how much she wants to be with me ❤️😍❤️ Her name Truly Fits her, Angel she really is a sweet little girl. I have had her 3 months tomorrow and she was the BEST Birthday present EVER!
My Russian Dwarf will travel around under her burrow during the day. I can see the bedding moving along. I do stay up to see her but she wakes up around 10pm.
Thank you, I needed this. I haven’t seen my robo hamsters in days and I became worried if they were okay or were they sick or dying. Now I’m not concerned anymore.
I am getting a hamster in a couple months and wanted to make it some stuff for it’s inclosure. If I were to paint for example a swing or hidy hut would non-toxic water-based paint be okay? Or covering over the paint with mod podge (seals paint)? Also I was wondering what type of substance you used to paint cages made from pine that you’ve made by hand as I want to make one for mine during this quarantine.
99% of the time it happens, the hamster is probably fine. - so true! I just got my robo, and I've been so worried about where he is if I havent seen him all day. So what I've started to do, is turn off all of the lights, and lay down in bed for a bit, until I hear him coming out and just try to check. I try to take a picture of him if I can to check his nails and stuff, and of course placing his favorite food near his hideouts. He usually comes out immediately after a meal worm is put in his enclosure.
I think I unintentionally shifted my little Tremors' schedule. I'm a late waker, so I usually refill her bowl at noon. About 4 days into her new home she was awake for one of these events, and after a couple more times she's gotten into the habit of waking at 11-ish waiting for the food dude to come around. I've run with it, and do her taming sessions then too. She now only wakes up at 3 am in the night to compensate. Which is great, because by then I'd also be asleep and the room will be properly dark.
Hai Erin! I was wondering if u could share ur thought on my current hamster condition. I live in a country where there isnt much vet care available for hamsters, ive been reading forums but im just not sure yet. I have a male winter white hamster, hes going to be 2 years at the end of May 2020 Hes an old one, hes been loosing his fur cumpletely around his belly and his hind legs, hes gotten skinnier over the months but still eating and drinking, but just recently (2 nights ago) ive noticed that he is starting to loose his balance COMPLETELY. He cant walk a straight line without stumbling over. I dont see any visible wound. Ive taken out his wheels from his cage (not sure if this was right, because HE LOVESSS his wheel so much, but i was afraid it will worsen his condition), and his head isnt tilted in one way (so im guessing its not an ear infection- as they suggested in forums). He still occationally comes out of his hide to look for food and water and sand bath. And he goes to the place where his wheels used to be at. And after that he just comes back into his hide to sleep. But i dont know what it is and how to treat my hamster. Im hoping its just old age syndromes, but i wanted to know if there is anything else i need to know. Thank u!
Hi Erin I know this probably means nothing to you at all but im so happy my dogs tik tok (badger_boi) just hit 1k followers and im so happy! Just saying in case you ever did a reacting to subscribers tik toks id love to be featured! :)
both times my hamsters hadn’t come out for a couple of days they had passed away, but as she said it’s a rare thing that they will have actually passed. so it freaks me out a lot when i don’t see my current hamster for a while, so i do have a look every night.
Lol! well, I hope you have a happy hamster!! it seems like a big cage you have there!

Patrick Ormerod why do you wanna sell it-

I needed this because I haven’t seen my robo. I know she’s alive because her food keeps disappearing and I see footprints in her sand.
But it does make me really nervous
I also can fully relate to your description haha
Is she usually waking up earlier? Bc changing sleeping habits can mean something. But if she is just sleeping long, that's normal. My Syrian is never up before eleven pm, and sometimes I just need to sleep, and then I just don't see him.

I’m so sorry for your loss, losing a pet is really hard. I’ve lost a cat a few years ago as well as a turtle a month ago :(
Rip ♥️♥️
Findlay Toone so sorry about your loss! I feel for you, when my ham past a few months ago I cried a whole week. He was my very special first hamster.(RIP, Cocoa💔)
Findlay Toone Happened to me a few days ago too, losing a hamster is the most awful thing💔
OMG only 3 & 1/2 mo old?! 😞 How sad?! Were you checking on her water bottle every day?! Making sure it was working properly, etc? Sometimes they are just born w/problems too, and we can't always tell there is something wrong. I'm sorry for your loss. 💔
You can tell the quarantine’s been hitting her
No what your'e looking at is normal Erin...
😂 same tho ❤️😂

That's a tad rude no?
Xddddddddd!!
yaaaay im actually watching this on the same year it was made!
Right! Lmao 🤣 Think that's a first
Mood
My little robo is EXTREMELY nocturnal but with school I'm often up late doing homework anyway so I'm able to hear/see her. Sometimes she doesn't wake up at the normal time and that worries me but then she peeps her little head out as soon as I turn off the light and head to bed. :/
My hamster too he spends almost all of his time in his burrows
My robo wakes up around 12 am. But his wheel is loud enough that it I wake up in the middle of the night I hear it.
Mine is new, but she seems quite a timid little thing and she doesnt come out often. I saw this video and now I feel better
I don’t even have a hamster and I still watched this.
Hmmm...
Same here but I have had them in the past. Just wanted to see if I had done the correct things.

Oh my daaaayyys!!! 😂
Pook it sounds funny but it was soooo scary my anxiety went 📈
Wow that sounds pretty stressful!
Good thing you found them! sorry but I just need to 😂😂🤣
OMG that happened to me, but she made the hole ON THE LID!!! I woke up in the middle of the night hearing weird sound and oh my, that's when I learn how hard is to catch a roborowsky when they have a whole room to run around
.
Nadine haha yep same I have 2 robos and they r very hard to catch worst of all they weren’t tamed yet
Lil Cocoa god my food is like 14 pounds
@@roopleshamsters7294 mine is 5 or 6 pounds
My dwarf hamster just died he looks like sulfur and i watched a video of yours with sulfur and i cried i just missed him so much 2 years and a half is to short.
Zackery Gregana I'm so sorry about your little hamster! Mine past recently and I'm devastated, yes two years is to short!
Lil Cocoa yup still devasted about his lost
So sorry for your loss❤ but 2.5 years is such a long life for a hamster! Be proud that you let him have such a healthy and happy life
woodsnhoods thank you
Zackery Gregana my hamster passed away a few months ago and he only got a little over a year 😢 I miss him so much
My hamsters have a weird feeling of time.
Here is a method
Spot clean the cage and 24 hours later go through the cage and if you see some soiled bedding then you at least know they are in the cage
That may disturb the hamster tho these are methods to do without disturbing the hamster too much
You'd never be able to pinpoint droppings from a smaller breed like a robo, but you can tell with a syrian!
Honestly when I cook a good meal my hamster always comes sniffing around! lol
Aww!😍
I use to have a hamster like that, could never eat without her trying to get our attention because she wanted food.
if I make a toast my hamster always tries to steal the cheese
Same every dinner he pokes his head because he can smell since his cage is in the dining room.
I remember when I hadn't seen my hamster for a few days. She was old and I decided to take of the roof and check. She didn't move like she would usually so I shook it slightly. No movement then I poked her and finally picked her up. She was cold and I remember that horrific feeling.
♥️♥️♥️
I'm so sorry💔😞
My hamster past in my hands I like felt him leave it was horrible
@@ninasnyder8218 that must have been awful😭🙏♥
That happened to my ham a few days ago... but she was only 3 months old.
@@jeffdodd7615 WHAT HAPPENED!!!
I don’t see him all day but I definitely hear him all night :)
Thank you. Snowball was my first hamster. She was abandoned and I took her in. your videos helped me know her age and PROPER care. I knew her time was close to an end 😔, your tips here helped me catch it the night of. 💔
I don't have a hamster, so I don't really need this info 😅, but I love your vids anyways!
Same bro same
My new hamster loves your voice, he always comes out when I put on your video, I got about thirty seconds into this and he poked his head right up
Usually my first method if I want to know immediately is that luckily my hamster made his nest in a hide so I gently touch the hide to see if I can feel any heat.
I swere you have the cutest hamsters to ever exist ♥️♥️
I went awww when you showed the tiny footprints in the sandbath. That is so cute!
Turned out she was an around 7 month old pregnant girl, the baby is 8 weeks old now and I love her ❤
57 SEC AGO?...I had to click I've never ever seen a video that quick lol
Hello! i dont wanna type a long long comment but you helped me make sure i had the right care before getting a hamster. i remember binge watching your and Victora raechels vids all day. Me: sees comments saying she’s crazy because of quarantine
Also me: *looks at her* she seems fine

WAIT NEVERMIND
😂 she’s such a mood
We do everything you mentioned, specifically the treats and it always works. I’ve been scared a few times in our 3.5 months of having our big guy!
Them: "I see my hamster every night" "I see my hamster every second night."
Me: "You guys are seeing your hamsters?" O.o
Honestly, there are times when I don't see my little fella for 4-5 days, as long as the food is disappearing, it doesn't really bother me
Adriana I’m really scared cause I saw my hamster yesterday night but i don’t see her in her cage this night. What should I do
I really love how much more goofy you've been in your videos lately 😂 It's great! Let loose and have fun!
Both times this has happened to me they'd actually died. 😭 My sweet dwarf hamsters Delilah & Annabelle.
I knew as they'd not ate the food or used toilet.
OMG This has been my life all week! Lol
I moved my hammy to a big new enclosure and I haven't seen him at the usual times since.
Love the cage behind you. So pretty and modern.
Smth around 30% goes down thru the bars so every morning on the cabinet and floor around I see signs of his night life XD
His face when im cleaning it up... "Hey, you!
I love Erin’s eyes, she’s so pretty!
I wake up realy erly for work and i love to see our hams when they are really awake befor sunrise and they both come up for their morning cuddles
I always used to wake my hamster up whenever i wanted to see him but now thanks to you i spend most of my day waiting for him to wake up
Yaaay I’m actually watching this the same day it was made
Possible to ‘remake’ all the animal care video. Miss them all. Still watching those ‘old ones’
Has isolation left you a little bit nuts makeup was amazing and the little dance at the end of the video amazing
The outro XD
also literally just freaked out that I've not seen my hamster properly for a few days. This happens every so often. I hear her drink and use her wheel when I'm in bed so I know she's OK, but damn I miss seeing her XD curse you little Pancake! Let me love and adore you!
What thoughtful ideas.
Erin, as always, both informative and highly entertaining!
Now that I’m at home my standup is over at exactly 10am so after this I’ll have some time to say hello to my old boy :)
you can also stick a piece of bedding on top of the wheel instead of making a mark with a marker
I used the wheel method once but instead of a mark I put a sunflower seed on the top :)
Great tips ! What I sometimes do if I’m very worried is I poke my finger down the burrow and feel if it is warm or not :)
He goes right back to sleep, or better yet, comes out and grabs the treat and goes back to sleep. .
This is very helpful. Thanks so much! Also I love your unicorn onesie.
Hands up if Unicorn Erin has become your personality too during quarantine 😂🤣

I used to hate the sound of my dwarf on his wheel. It would keep me up all night. Now I can't sleep until I hear it 💚

Omg, that grey hamster looks identical to mine! All the same patterns and everything
I used to rustle the bedding outside my hamsters house or gently bump the roof up a bit, usually a curious nose would pop out.
When my hamster Latte passed it was coming close to the 48hr mark when I opened her house and it was not pleasant :(
Definitely follow Erins advice as it allows you to mourn properly
Great video. When I'm worried about my hamsters I set up a camera to film them at night. This is particlarly great for when my hamsters are getting older and not very active and I am asleep before they wake up.
Today is my 2nd day with my robo and I havent seen him all day today and I'm very thankful for this video ... I'm so stressed and worried 😫😫😫😫
Enjoyed your dancing at the end of the video!!! 😊
usually if I'm nervous 'cause I haven't seen Baby in a while, I'll scruffle the surface of their substrate and call their name gently. if I see movement or hear them rustling around, I know they're probably okay. these are some great ideas to avoid disturbing my hammy altogether!
tbh tho, I'm pretty lucky.
Time spent in lockdown is directly proportional to the extraness of Erin’s eye makeup
I think this video was very helpful for people, I love your videos they are very informative and well done
Fuck that, if I haven’t seen my gerbils for a while I’m ganna go crazy
I have a male winter white hamster, hes going to be 2 years at the end of May 2020
Hes an old one, hes been loosing his fur cumpletely around his belly and his hind legs, hes gotten skinnier over the months but still eating and drinking, but just recently (2 nights ago) ive noticed that he is starting to loose his balance COMPLETELY.
Thank u!
I love this channel so much x
Hi Erin I know this probably means nothing to you at all but im so happy my dogs tik tok (badger_boi) just hit 1k followers and im so happy! Just saying in case you ever did a reacting to subscribers tik toks id love to be featured! :)
both times my hamsters hadn’t come out for a couple of days they had passed away, but as she said it’s a rare thing that they will have actually passed.
so it freaks me out a lot when i don’t see my current hamster for a while, so i do have a look every night.
