St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross is my confirmation Saint. I was a Protestant and was so gratefully received into God’s Holy Catholic Church in 1997. I was 45. I chose her because I was a psychology postgraduate and she studied phenomenology. She was known as Edit Stein at that time. Also as a child growing up in England, born 7 years after the end of the fist World War I watched with my parents All Our Yesterdays which was about the war. I watched all of it which included Auchwitz. My heart broke as child as I watched it. I have felt a very close kind of connection which I cannot explain to those poor suffering people and children in the face of Satan and his helpers. I think it is a love of the Jewish people. So for those reasons I chose St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross.
St. Teresa Benedicta helped me complete my doctoral thesis. Thank you, God, for her. Her PhD thesis is available from ICS publications if you dare. I tried to understand it.
I’ve had an opportunity to study and work in Wrocław the birth place of Edith Stein. Her life story is amazing, thanks for presentation of great saint of 20th century. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱
It was so uplifting to hear about the way St. Edith Stein endured her tribulations. I am currently facing financial and family troubles that at times seem overwhelming. Imbued with hope from this snippet of her life it fortifies me to go on and forge ahead. What an incredible role model! It's great to know we can tap into that same source of grace by turning in prayer to our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you again and keep up the good work!
Thank you so much. I'm doing my research on “Empathy as the Experience of Foreign Consciousness: An Analysis of Edith Stein's Phenomenological Concept of Einfühlung.”
I love Edith - what a wise and brave saint ! Re dealing with difficulties - I recently discovered that some cash I had sent in the post had gone missing - I more or less shrugged my shoulders and got on with things - but it's all the little annoyances that seem to get right under my skin like people leaving all the lights on at night or people who jump the queue in the supermarket ! What a strange mixture I am ! Love your talks Fr Gregory !
ST. TERESA BENEDICTA OF THE CROSS: “It has always been far from me to think that God’s mercy allows itself to be circumscribed (limited) by the visible Church’s boundaries. God is Truth. All who seek truth seek God, whether this is clear to them or not.”
I can't explain what she does to me, I speak to her during the day and receive an overwhelming sense of peace and profound stillness. I love her and I need her in my life
There's an important part that you forgot... the German and Dutch bishops were relatively silent but St. Edith Stein was writing them letters telling them to become more vocal. As a result, the Bishops denounced Nazism with their most fierce language and that led to her being arrested and sent to Auschwitz.
Thank you, brother. In a dark hour, I needed these words. Your sermon pierced the clouds of my gloom and I, too, was permitted to pray "with glory." May Sr. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross pray for us.
My recently born daughter has a middle name Edith after St. Edith Stein. Incredibly, my daughter was born 2 months premature from a surprise early labour on Nov 29. I later saw that Edith Tolkien died on Nov 29, 1971 (and we had named our daughter after her as well!) Hoping Edith Tolkien is also a saint in heaven that my daughter can have a special connection with!
St John of the Cross received his greatest graces while locked in a filthy little prison for nine months. It sounds like she also prayed gloriously while in that hell on earth.
Very interesting!. Also would like to add that a Pope nevers errs when he canonizes. But a woman, as per scriptures and tradition, should not be neither teaching nor philosophising nor having authority over men. Also wonderful to see how she endured all those tribulations. For that she is surely a saint.
There is the Shorter Summa, which is a concise version written by Thomas Aquinas. My Way of Life by Father Walter Farrell, published by TAN Books, is a short book that is said to present Aquinas' conclusions. As it happened, my father kept a copy of this book along with a missal for the pre-55 mass by his bed all the years I knew him.
There's another stein you should be concerned with, and his first name is Shel. Every time I see Fr. Pine with this beard I can't help but think of him and his unnerving picture on the back of The Giving Tree.

I loved hearing how she cared for the little children… I need to ask for her intercession regarding feeding my preemie daughter. ❤
Bless you, I had a preemie daughter also. It takes awhile for them to get going...and lots of patience. God bless you and your baby

Loved everything about this video. You spoke beautifully of her Fr. Pine.
Thank you Father 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I am so grateful for the existence of this channel! Greetings from Poland!
Thank you Father Pine!

I have 2 of her books, was recommended by my parish's priest. I will eventually read them.
Thanks Father! Good stuff! 🙏😊

Love this man
She is my Confirmation Saint, but I took the name Theresa since that was her new name, and my mom’s middle name.
Beautiful!

Most of mental healthcare uses a phenomenology approach which St. Edith Stein was a pioneer of along with Heidigger and Edmund H.
Is there a kids book on the summa Theologica?

Being bit by bed bug how would yall react ??
The wage of sin is death…but the gift of eternal life through those who believe in Christ Jesus…Romans 6
Are dominicans allowed to give talks about carmelites or any other order 🤔😮🙈
In good faith, yes. : )
*Only when they write an imagined dialogue between one of their heroes and Aquinas himself. No other exceptions.
We’re one Body in Jesus Christ.
