5 Ways that cultivate in us a life of Holiness
    1. Prayer
    - raising of mind and heart to God-St. John Damascene
    - Simple gaze of God by whom you know your loved-St. Therese of Avila
    - Interior movement of the mind fueled by the virtue of religion (we recognize God as our creator and end and we place ourselves consciously within His plan)-St. Thomas
    - 20mins
    2. Sacrament
    - Eucharist and Regular Confession
    - Deepen our baptismal consecration
    3. Habit of Study
    - We are contemplatives which is to say that we seek to gaze upon God, we seek to gaze upon His mysteries so that we might be TRANSFORMED by them
    - By study we feed our minds with the knowledge of the God who seeks to draw us by that knowledge into His own interior life by the gift of the grace we can know God with His own knowledge of Himself and love God with His own love of Himself then we are made more and more to be the image of God
    - Engaging with something philosophical and theological which challenges us, the goal isn't 100% comprehension, the goal is GROWTH and that will mean CHALLENGING YOURSELF
    4. Penance
    - Holiness is a matter of ordering the loves which are already at work in our lives (food, drinks, family, knowing the truth)
    - By Penance, we seek to heal from the effects of original sin and to set aside secondary goods which ought and demand as much of us as they presently do so that we can offer our whole selves to God so you might introduce
    - On food and drink
    5. Christian Friendship
    - Holiness is not a personal project
    - Holiness is God's work in us and He draw us into it by the extension of friendship which friendship conducts us unto Trinitarian Communion
    - Fellow travelers who can correct us and encourage us in our life of faith
5 things that help us to remove obstacles
    1. Be wary of noise
    - So that we can create a space of silence and solitude so that our soul can meet God in the intimacy of that union
    2. Technology
    - it can create is us a kind of habit of anti-recollection
    3. Disposition of General Passivity
    - Sometimes we're haunted by the fear that life just happens to us or kind of passing by
    - Think about our life as a kind of course that we set about or a kind of thing that we engage
    - Our life is something to be lived and God places our life within our hands so as to live it
    - So if you find yourself like passively consuming contents and never really engaging with it or just discussing it or sharing it or experiencing something of a mission in your life then maybe its time to think about how that should be afoot
    4. Disposition of self-medication or self-diagnosis
    - we sometimes characterize ourselves in a way that isn't true or in a way that isn't conducive to our growth
    - we sometimes define ourselves by our limitations or by inhumane standards
    - ITS NECESSARY JUST TO FEEL THE DIFFICULTY OF LIFE, SOMETIMES ITS NECESSARY TO DIVE DEEP INTO THE DIFFICULTY OF LIFE- ENGAGE WITH IT
    - Be wary of a kind of persistent habit of self-diagnosis and self-medication
    5. Disposition of Uncommitment or Anti-commitment
    - Engage
What we live at present we will experience holy and entirely in Heaven, as Christians we don't go in for a life of delayed gratification, we believe that now is a kind of heaven on earth provided that we invest in it provided we profit from it

Wow. The timing of this video in my life is very humbling. I felt a form of stagnant in my growth in intimacy with God. Then I received one video which taught me to ask God for his help in my growth in intimacy with him. I've never asked him that before. Never even thought to ask. I've been asking and waiting.
Then got inspired to review and reflect over my foundation. I got basics like the Catechism and St Faustina Diary. Then I asked what next and this video tells me how to approach my reflection and review.
    Thank you!

_"This kind of conduct comes of utter madness, and it is a very great loss to him who so makes his reckoning. For the secure storehouse of good works is to forget our good works. And as with regard to raiment and gold, when we expose them in a market-place, we attract many ill-meaning persons; but if we put them by at home and hide them, we shall deposit them all in security: even so with respect to our good deeds; if we are continually keeping them in memory, we provoke the Lord, we arm the enemy, we invite him to steal them away; but if no one know of them, besides Him who alone ought to know, they will lie in safety"_ (Homily 3, St John Chrysostom).

I like this St. Thomas Aquinas quote on prayer, "By praying man surrenders his mind to God, since he subjects it to Him with reverence and, so to speak, presents it to Him." I think of this every time I prostrate myself before the Eucharist. "My mind is poured out onto Thee do with it as you will."

If 20 mins morning is to hard to get started - set you phone alarm and try the Angelus at 6-12-6. It takes one minute to recite and for me within a few weeks I was given grace to desire more prayer. Now I do 3-4 sets of mysteries per day, (sometimes while driving or walking my dog when time is short) and usually have a Novena to a saint on the go. You need discipline to root prayer in your life and do it even when there is dryness in it. For me starting with a very small discipline helped root it.

Just by the way. The first and most excellent source for growing in holiness is studying the Word given to us by our Heavenly Father (the Holy Bible). Here are a few of His teachings on the same.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
    Proverbs 9:10
Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.
    2 Corinthians 7:1
But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
    1 Peter 1:15-16
Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
    Hebrews 12:14
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your Word.
    Psalm 119:9
Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began.
    2 Timothy 1:9
Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
    Psalm 139:23-24
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.
    Philippians 2:5
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the Word of life.
    Philippians 2:14-16a
But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.
    Ephesians 5:3
You shall be holy to me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.
    Leviticus 20:26
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
    Romans 12:1
There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.
    1 Samuel 2:2
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.
    Romans 6:22
For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
    Isaiah 57:15
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.
    Romans 16:17
You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
    Matthew 5:48
Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?
    1 Corinthians 3:16
So I will show my greatness and my holiness and make myself known in the eyes of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
    Ezekiel 38:23
Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said.
    Amos 5:14
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!
    Psalm 103:1
And I will vindicate the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Lord God, when through you I vindicate my holiness before their eyes.
    Ezekiel 36:23
It is a snare to say rashly, “It is holy,” and to reflect only after making vows.
    Proverbs 20:25
No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.
    Luke 8:16
Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song to him who rides through the deserts; his name is the Lord; exult before him! Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation.
    Psalm 68:4-5
And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray.
    Isaiah 35:8
Bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
    Colossians 3:13
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
    John 1:1‭-‬2‭, ‬4‭-‬5
One other thing. I most heartily recommend the YouVersion Bible app. It is totally free and had recently reached 500,000,000 downloads. It is excellent!!!

    • @jonahmenikoff1997
      @jonahmenikoff1997 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@r.m5883 I didn't make any claims about sola scriptura, just explaining how reading the bible is a really awesome and effective way to grow in holiness! But here is my best defense:
fundamentally Sola Scripture doesn't just mean scripture alone, but
it means scripture is the final and ultimate authority in regards to theology and doctrine. Scripture alone is infallible. I believe this is a big theme among the church fathers and the bible (all quoted below)
First I'll respond to the commonly used passage against sola scriptura: 2 Thess 2:15
In the apostolic age, oral teaching was just as authoritative as scripture, because the apostles had that special authority in the early church. However, when the apostolic age ceased, and as the apostles can't teach "orally" after they die, scripture was the only deposit of apostolic teaching and therefore the infallible. No one today is claiming to be infallible without being marked as a false teacher.
      St. Augustine of Hippo:
What more can I teach you, than what we read in the Apostle? For Holy Scripture sets a rule to our teaching, that we dare not “be wise more than it behooves to be wise,” but be wise, as he says, “unto soberness, according as unto each God has allotted the measure of faith.”
      St. Cyril of Jerusalem (c.310-386):
For concerning the divine and holy mysteries of the Faith, not even a casual statement must be delivered without the Holy Scriptures; nor must we be drawn aside by mere plausibility and artifices of speech. Even to me, who tell you these things, give not absolute credence, unless you receive the proof of the things which I announce from the Divine Scriptures. For this salvation which we believe depends not on ingenious reasoning, but on demonstration of the Holy Scriptures.
      St. Athanasius (c.296-373):
The holy and inspired Scriptures are fully sufficient for the proclamation of the truth.
      St. Gregory of Nyssa (330-395):
...we are not entitled to such license, namely, of affirming whatever we please. For we make Sacred Scripture the rule and the norm of every doctrine. Upon that we are obliged to fix our eyes, and we approve only whatever can be brought into harmony with the intent of these writings.
      St. John Chrysostom (c.347-407):
Let us not therefore carry about the notions of the many, but examine into the facts. For how is it not absurd that in respect to money, indeed, we do not trust to others, but refer to [our own] calculation; but in calculating upon [theological] facts we are lightly drawn aside by the notions of others; and that too, though we possess an exact balance, and square and rule for all things, the declaration of the divine laws? Wherefore I exhort and entreat you all, disregard what this man and that man thinks about these things, and inquire from the Scriptures all these things; and having learned what are the true riches, let us pursue after them that we may obtain also the eternal good things...
      St. John of Damascus (c.675-c.749):
It is impossible either to say or fully to understand anything about God beyond what has been divinely proclaimed to us, whether told or revealed, by the sacred declarations of the Old and New Testaments.
      St. Basil the Great (c.329-379):
They are charging me with innovation, and base their charge on my confession of three hypostases [persons], and blame me for asserting one Goodness, one Power, one Godhead. In this they are not wide of the truth, for I do so assert. Their complaint is that their custom does not accept this, and that Scripture does not agree. What is my reply? I do not consider it fair that the custom which obtains among them should be regarded as a law and rule of orthodoxy. If custom is to be taken in proof of what is right, then it is certainly competent for me to put forward on my side the custom which obtains here. If they reject this, we are clearly not bound to follow them. Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the Word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth.
      ______________________________________________________________________________________________
      and some verses:
1 Cor 4:6 seems to be an interesting claim:
6 I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers,[a] that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another.
27 for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God,[e] which he obtained with his own blood.[f] 29 I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them.
-After my departure - after the apostles with apostolic authority depart
11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
-the common folks are examining the scriptures to see if what they are being told doctrinally holds

The Church requires that you go to confession within eight days of an indulgenced action to gain the indulgence. This is the Church recommending confession no less than once every two weeks.

St. Pius X taught: "Where there is holiness there cannot be disagreement with the Pope." So one could easily make a point that, today, practicing holiness means agreeing with Francis that our priorities must be climate change, ecumenism, building a global fraternity by putting our differences aside, and avoiding rigidity. And nobody can claim that Catholics are bound to follow a pope only when he makes rare solemn ex cathedra statements. No!, Catholics must always follow the ordinary teachings of a pope.
In the same address, Pius X showed that one is always bound to obey the current day-to-day magisterium: "When we love the Pope, we do not dispute whether he commands or requires a thing, or seek to know where the strict obligation of obedience lies, or in what matter we must obey; when we love the Pope we do not say that he has not yet spoken clearly - as if he were required to speak his will in every man’s ear, and to utter it not only by word of mouth but in letters and other public documents as well. Nor do we cast doubt on his orders, alleging the pretext which comes easily to the man who does not want to obey, that it is not the Pope who is commanding, but someone in his entourage. We do not limit the field in which he can and ought to exercise his authority; we do not oppose to the Pope’s authority that of other persons - no matter how learned - who differ from the Pope."
So who is going to follow Francis already?

what if you are uncommitted because you realize that many of your relationships were founded on toxic principles due to one's own toxic nature? Now that I am bettering myself, I am seeing how many of my relationships, including family members, are rooted in unhealthy relationship standards. But when seeking new, healthier relationships, I feel fraudulent. And thus the uncommitted relationships continue.

Gregory Pine op, I believe that "Prudence" (CCC, 1806), a word used in the title of your book, requires not following Aquinas on procreation and inseparability only of reason and having faith given he lacked the scientific knowledge: e.g. the multiplier in economics from 1930 and the natural family planning Billings' ovulation method from 1964, of covenant, non-presumed reciprocity of the male and the female in conception.
Avilla would I believe add to Aquinas her Step Four of her "Ascent of Mount Carmel" of not attempting controlling movement in prayer between active thinking and medicative contemplative having faith thus 'qualitatively equal" to add to Aquinas' inseparable.
This error or incompletion is continued by Pope St Paul V1 in Of Human Life, Humanae Vitae, 1968, 12: "Two inseparable aspects: Union and Procreation" in marriage. Pope Francis on or about 10 June 2021 completed adding "qualitatively equal" in his simultaneous authorisations of applications of:
    (a) thinking in the case of Cardinal Angelo Becciu and nine others' alleged embezzlement of procreation helper of the family ensuring charity donations within the family;
    (b) having faith or imagination in the case of the "Zan" anti-homophobia bill before the Italian Parliament's alleged unacceptable risk of fraud on family members' identities in need of union in valid and proper marriage, including consecrated celibates in Christ together with male female couples in God.
On the qualitative equality and not just inseparability of consecrated celibacy and male female marriage, I refer you to the activities and being of spouses in male female marriages, Colin Clark and Elizabeth Anscombe (Mrs Geach), who prayed together at your Dominican Blackfriars Chapel in Oxford UK in the 1950's followed by my father, Colin Clark's, inseparable and qualitatively equal work and being at your order's run Mannix College, Melbourne from 1969-c.78 following his simultaneous advice in 1964 to Pope Paul V1's Commission on Population and the UNO Food and Agriculture Organisation of "just about paripassu rate of growth of population and food supplies in the developing countries."
False status "unemployment friction" (concept in economics) is evident in your advice if not offered inseparably and qualitatively equally with that of a valid and proper family member of a valid and proper male female marriage in God unless you are such.
In marriage, Oliver Clark, son of Colin Clark, age 75, Archdiocese of Brisbane, Australia, accredited catechist of roman catholic religion, oliver_clark5@telstra.com; Ph. +61 - (0)467 299 853; 8/178 Kent Street, New Farm, Brisbane, Queensland, 4005, Australia

In Keter or in Heaven, Yahweh manifests as an uncountable amount of bald golden heads with white, glowing eyes. When God manifests himself to punish sinners, Yahweh manifests himself as a huge creature with a serpent-like body from the waist down, with from the waist up He is a creature with various types of heads of various animals, looking more like a Beast of Apocalypse than a Monotheistic God. In this form, the God's appearance is entirely dark with purple accents, giving him a dark appearance, as if a God of Darkness rather than a God of Light. This was the way Yahweh used to send the Flood, with the Prediluvian inhabitants getting a glimpse of what it looked like, filled with fear and terror, feeling the wrath of God upon them.

  • @ready1fire1aim1

Yahweh is said to look similar to God's old fatherly persona with a white beard and cloak though has taken a younger form before. In ancient times, the physical form that was assumed by Yahweh was that of a giant reddish dragon, over 30 meters tall, with a long neck and magma-like scales. His teeth were sharp, his eyes were like glowing fireballs and from his mouth came a heat and burning flames that consumed everything around him, capable of melting even steel and boiling water, such an appearance was so frightening that even Moses was afraid to approach Him due to his frightening form.
In his human form, Yahweh manifested himself as a man of war, a legitimate God-warrior of the storm and the desert, defender of his people and annihilator of his enemies. In his human form, the Lord manifests himself as a tall man, about 1.95 meters tall, with a short greasy beard, with long brown hair. His skin was dark, and his body was beauteous and attractive, his physique was muscular, burly, with muscles that looked like they were made of pure steel, with veins on his arms that looked like they were graphene fibers they were so tough, gaining the attention of even goddesses of love and beauty such as Asherah, Anat, Astarte, and Inanna. The God of Israel wore a mighty armor made of gold, which covered most of his body, with the exception of his head. When in battle, Yahweh manifested fourteen wings on his back, white wings with golden tips, representing God's perfect number.

One cannot do all these things without help. You need to join a third order for lay people, eg like the Carmelites Third Order, etc.... where it's necessary to meet on a regular basis with others who want the same goals, to be taught how to live this HOLY life like Father explained... we cannot do all Father has said on our own, because we don't know how to do all of this, because this is a daily discipline , AND MAN IS LAZY, AND IGNORANT OF HOW TO BE HOLY.
It takes COMMITMENT AND ALSO HOURLY COMMITMENTS.
We cannot love God only when "we" WANT to, or when we feel like it, this thinking, this attitude hurts God; because God loves us in every moment.
We cannot love God part-time. All our day's work can be offered to God, every thing gets offered to God, every unimportant act, such as washing the dishes or gardening, washing our car, or talking on the phone, driving our cars, how to do it,
we make a mental act, a thought, by bringing God into everything we do, we do all our work with God.
e.g. GOD DRIVES THE CAR, GOD WASHES THE DISHES, GOD DOES THE GARDENING...... TOGETHER .
YOU BRING GOD INTO EVERY TINY THING WE DO.... this is called living in the Presence of God.... we become one with Christ. This is Holiness. We must want GOD. We cannot do this on our own, we need help, we need support, we are weak.
This is what the Saints did.
