  • Today we are talking about the Fathom Gemini. A rebreather newly announced at DEMA 2022 that takes some serious design inspiration from the KISS Sidewinder. Is that a bad thing though? I'll leave it up to you! Remember! If you Vibe, Subscribe!

    After seeing the quality of Fathom's rebreathers, I think this is a really good thing for consumers. I also think the two are just enough different, in the same way that JJ, Meg, X, Fathom BM and even Liberty are different. Not sure how I feel about the removable scrubbers. On the one hand it adds to bulk and "stuff" on the other hand, one can cycle scrubbers similar to how rEvo divers do it, etc. Just like every other rebreather on the market, there's no perfect one, just compromises we're willing to live with ;)

    I have one, it deals with the pitfalls of the kiss pretty well other than certain downsides that are inherently present in the design. The machining and customer service are impeccable as well.

      It's super tight. The bailout function on the liberty sidemount makes it an ideal unit for running a dual rebreather. Divesoft makes top notch stuff!

    Once I'm ready to get into a unit I think I'll be looking at the choptima. It helps that I know 4 divers diving it. That way I have people on hand to show me their setups ect.

      That’s what I dive. Great system. Using an EAC instead of loose sorb if a game changer. I can have my unit up and ready to dive in 30 minutes hitting everything in the checklist

      @@mikesbigadventures194 yea my friends seem to be ready pretty fast. However I don't really have anything to comlare it to. So I plan on doing try dives on a few units to see what I like. Yes! They recently teased some photos of the sidewinder 2. Looks pretty cool. One of the big features is a water trap, but there's a lot going on with it. They should be releasing more info in the nesr future.

    Great Video, as a sidewinder diver interested in this development. Can i ask which hoses you use, i find the 12 inch standard retractable ones much too short and the 16 inch from Narked a bit on the baggy side

    • @DiveVibe
      @DiveVibe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the standard length hoses. I also felt the ball gag effect. I got a set of loop hose covers from golem gear and they sort of stretch the hoses a little bit, which made everything much more comfortable to dive. Now they're permanently stretched a bit and much more comfy. I'm 6'5" so I definitely need a little more length, lol.
