You can't compare their life or lifestyle to other countries who are free under democracy or otherwise. And raised completely different. I feel his kids wanted it all. The lifestyle and money and also to be free like the men to travel and do. In their religion and under royalty he has to provide protection especially for the women. The women would be the first line of attack from a enemy. Also anyone trying to ruin his name under their religion and ruin his house would shame him through the women. In their life this is how it is. It's a terrible thing to shame the women in Islam. And if he was as cruel as everyone says if his wife really cheated on him under his religion he could have her killed. Yet after all these years their all still alive. For one, in Islam its better for the child to be raised up in their faith than to be in a split family outside of it. So the father could feel the kids need to be there with him to be raised under their beliefs. There are serious marital issues in the mix, and people have their own serious personal issues. Most leaders have narcissism or narcissistic views. They are controlling people. That's what they do. This is also what makes them effective at ruling. And moms in these situations clearly didn't think about the entire picture before jumping in. And i know that all the moms are not saints either. I'm sure there are messed up things behind the scenes from them also. Sometimes women are very strong with leadership capabilities and are not the type to be led and want to do it their way.
In Islam the man is the leader and guide. It is not the wonans way without permission. The daughters he chased after? They are his pure flesh and blood and he not only in his mind does he believe he's protecting them he probably feels he's protecting his house. Because they would also be targets from others. Like Dad like son, give him some space! All the women knew the customs when they married him. Laws are very strict. He has to be strict with his children as it reflects on him. BUT, when they are 30 years old or older, let them live their own lives, as they are ADULTS and have no plans of ever leaving. They love their people and their lives in Dubai ! Surely they know all consequences by that age. The fact still remains they are grown ! I do not think he is a bad person, just want things his way.
