Man ‘Appalled’ by Tourist Who Defaced Rome’s Colosseum

- Ryan Lutz captured the moment when a tourist carved his and his girlfriend's names onto the walls of Rome's ancient Colosseum. The 38-year-old California man says he's "appalled" by the actions of the tourist. Other carvings can be seen defacing the Colosseum, despite warning signs stating “no climbing and writing on the walls.” Now, there's an international search for the offending tourist. Inside Edition's Ann Mercogliano has more.

I've been to Rome. The Coliseum is covered in ancient graffiti. The guy probably thought it would be OK to do because of how much there is, but it's highly discouraged.
Exactly! He's been disingenuous for he knew exactly what he was doing. Like many others who did it in the past, he acted immorally and was quite frankly stupid of him!
It's unlucky that it was caught in a video that became viral and now there's this so called global-manhunt and he can have his life ruined for this act. I feel he should be punished but fear that he's been quickly judged by social media and found guilty already.

Romans liked to scrawl their admonitions, jokes, political opinions, pleas, and existential ramblings on the walls of communal and private buildings.

He’s already been identified by police as being a resident of the UK. Internet sleuths will probably descend upon him find out his workplace, his home address, his phone number, his girlfriend’s house address, and his family’s address. They’re going to bombard him with venomous vitriol and shame him for his actions.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he disappears for a while. They’re going to make his life miserable. But who cares? He should’ve thought about that before doing so stupid.

Anyway, I decided we should scribe our names into the wall of this old p.o.s. ruin, as we always do when spending more than 15 minutes anywhere. Some dude got all mad at me, what a jerk. Seriously!"

It wasn’t his property to deface. He’s an adult and was supposed to know better. Before you travel to another country it’s your responsibility to become aware of the customs and laws.
