We have had the first version for only a month and it is the favorite car. We had 4 ICE cars (four working adults) now 3 + 1ev and the EV has proved its worth in no time. Forget range it is just so easy to plug in at night and unplug in the morning and you are off. Most days we need only 40 - 80km. We all use it for errands when it is at home. Will probably get this new version as soon as it is available and another ICE will bite the dust. The price is unbeatable in Australia where it is 20k less than any competitor. China will dominate this market within a couple of years like Japan did with ICE.

it seems west will put sanctions on China and make the cars expensive.. as west is not willing to lower profit margins on their crap cars.. its more like..china is somehow guilty cuz their margins are lower..

Fantastic video. Looks like MG have listened to and acted on a lot of feedback to make a good EV even better. Now a true single family ICE vehicle replacement.

    Starting to watch the video.
I have owned the old version and now I have this new one.
I do notice really good improvements.
Personally I absolutely prefer the looks of the grille of the old one, but the new one is more practical indeed. The front lights also looked better on the old one (for my taste, but of course LED is much better) and I also liked the thicker logos.
But the rest...everything is really iimproved with the looks and everything else what you mention.
What surprised me the most is that the handling is clearly better with the new version; with the old one the wheels often skidded when I would get on a roundabout and accelerated there. With the new one I never have had that.
Another thing: the expected amount of kilometers that you can drive on the charge in the battery is MUCH more correct than with the old one. With the old one there often was 50% difference with reality, while the new one is pretty accurate.
(Sorry, English isn't my native tongue.)

Great video. As a Tesla owner, I drove the MG ZS EV for a week and was very impressed. Some notable differences it is has, which the Tesla does not, are the blindspot indicators on the wing mirrors and the fantastic all-round visibility. A really nice EV.

If MG are listening to their customers why have they dropped the panoramic roof. It has been a massive hit with people. With the competition at the moment their models are fast becoming just another car at a not overcompetitive price. Not the crowd puller they first were.

I had last years mg zs EV and on the whole been great around town. A bit floaty suspension but comfortable. How is the new suspension?Going on long journeys has been more troublesome and running out of charge 2 times and towed to a station that worked due to the car not going as far as it said it would. I would love to upgrade to the long range model but as I leased the car for 3 years will have to wait another 15 months to get one.

Thanks Miles for a great early review. As you say they have made a brilliant, practical family car with a “smallish footprint” even better. Who needs a bigger car on our roads. Looks like the Battery switch has now got it’s use back. The cameras all round will be great particularly parking near the kerb. I hope the climate control works well, will save making minor adjustments. Towing homologation is welcome, now I can use my trailer and put my push bikes on the back. The Phone Ap will be so useful. Being able to limit charging to 80% will be a great rather than having to change my time switch. I think it’s now the time to distinguish it from the petrol version. Battery percentage Wow. This car should fly off the shelves. Look forward to your longer review. My order is placed with your colleagues.

Pat did a video of a walk around of a silver one and when I first saw that I felt the new grille looked less awful in the silver than it does in the blue. The black looks even better (there’s a walk around video), but I’ll be driving on dirt roads so black is not a good idea for me. Having said that, I’ve rewatched a review of it every few days and the grille has really grown on me, and I’m actually not minding the blue anymore either. I think the grille became cute when I saw the face in it. The line/groove that’s under the MG logo kinda turns up at the edges, like a little smile 😊 It’s the important things that matter to me obviously 😂😂😂

Thank you Miles: always room for improvement: new features: 2x new AC vents for rear passengers, new perforated vegan leather for better comfort, Nice new GOM, trophy connect features? but did MG add UV filters for the glass (thereby eliminating the need for tinted windows?), new parcel shelf studs to hold up the parcel shelf?, regenerative braking in MG Pilot to save battery power?, regenerative braking from the brake pedal would be a mileage saver,

The look is greatly improved. overall i thinks is a good upgrade. i am very tempted as a replacement for our Qashqai to go along side our Leaf. Just a couple of things holding me back - the towing capacity of 500kg is really too low, should have been at least 1000kg. also it was a shame to see the charging speed at 90kw/h. I believe charging speed is actually slightly more important that battery capacity for those who do longer journeys and a speed of 125-150 i think is minimum for new cars going forwards really

Happy with the range. Almost happy with the charging speed. I hope they boost it to 100 or more especially it being such a big battery. No one pedal driving ( fun , handy, less tiring)? Will it get a Euro NCAP rating ( safety backed by facts / testing) like it did with the old version ? If not is it coming and when? 3 isofix? MG keeps improving their cars by listening to the customers but keeps ignoring safety testing. The 25.000 pound chinese ORA cat 3 that is on his way ( competitor) will arrive with a 5 star safety rating. Id3, skoda enjay, kia niro, kyundai kona all have a 5 star safety rating....

    • @milesrobertsuk
      @milesrobertsuk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd imagine that this version will also get 5-star on NCAP test. The only reason they didn't test the MG5 was that without the forward collision detection etc, it's impossible to get more than 3*, and they knew they were going to facelift it soon after the initial launch.
