We have had the first version for only a month and it is the favorite car. We had 4 ICE cars (four working adults) now 3 + 1ev and the EV has proved its worth in no time. Forget range it is just so easy to plug in at night and unplug in the morning and you are off. Most days we need only 40 - 80km. We all use it for errands when it is at home. Will probably get this new version as soon as it is available and another ICE will bite the dust. The price is unbeatable in Australia where it is 20k less than any competitor. China will dominate this market within a couple of years like Japan did with ICE.

According to the manual there are physical buttons beneath that can activate certain functions such as increasing temperature up and down. Not as bad as having all functions on screen. Looks like a decent combination.
Give it ten years and this will be very popular on the second-hand market and a lot of people's first choice as a first used electric vehicle. I'm thinking of buying shares in MG as I think they will have a strong future in the electric car market.

Happy with the range. Almost happy with the charging speed. I hope they boost it to 100 or more especially it being such a big battery. No one pedal driving ( fun , handy, less tiring)? Will it get a Euro NCAP rating ( safety backed by facts / testing) like it did with the old version ? If not is it coming and when? 3 isofix? @@IIPhotography no, the maximum towing weight (braked or unbraked) is 500kg.
The seats have a slight incline when folded, but are fairly level.
@@milesrobertsuk Right, only any good for our garden trailer then. Not enogh for any caravan. Have to stick with the Rover 45 for that then.
@@IIPhotography yep, I'm afraid so. The tow rating of many EVs is lower (due in part to axle weight limits already high with weight of battery packs)
Driving position nice
very useful video, thanks!
Excellent review! Looks good apart from the touch screen being so low down the dash! With no physical buttons that's going to be dangerous!
According to the manual there are physical buttons beneath that can activate certain functions such as increasing temperature up and down. Not as bad as having all functions on screen. Looks like a decent combination.
@@madonemt those buttons cannot be used without taking your eyes off the road. Far too low down and no knobs like on the previous ZS.
Any app like Thailand?
@@bdeithrick Yup comes with an app this time, can set charge limit, see how charged it is, pre-heat or cool the car etc.
For the first time, a Chinese brand car is actually a better buy than a comparable VW or Skoda EV. How the times have changed!
But is it?
Give it ten years and this will be very popular on the second-hand market and a lot of people's first choice as a first used electric vehicle. I'm thinking of buying shares in MG as I think they will have a strong future in the electric car market.
Fantastic review, thank you, the infotainment screen still looked a bit slow to me though, does it take an age to load the sat nav like my zs exclusive? Still very tempted to swap
No, it loads very quickly. The delay when selecting music was I think due to us not pairing a phone, and it being set to Bluetooth Audio (it was searching for a connection)
Is regular charging to 100% for battery balancing still SOP ?
A battery balance every month would be recommended for optimal battery performance.
👍from india, eagerly waiting to book..
Air ventilation? Like what Tesla have on sxy
A massive upgrade no doubt. Shame it's not available in India yet
Thanxs i'll orderd a new one modell lux coming to Sweden in April 2022👍
If ordered now, whats the waiting time?
Around 2-4 months
Brilliant car. I absolutely love this new design. I'm thinking of swapping my MG5 which is only few weeks old. Great review Miles ☺️👍
My friend has a hybrid version and has electric tailgate. I wonder why they didn’t include that on this one
That would be the HS, not the ZS.
This would be our next car except for the tow bar nose weight - needs to be nearer 75kg than 50kg to carry some serious bicycles on the back. Might still get it if my dodgy shoulder can manage one bike on the roof.
This is a great review. Do we know if the mg5 facelift is coming into the uk
Not announced officially yet. But probably 2nd half of 2022
@@milesrobertsuk great to know. I would also love to have an infotainment guide too
Great video Miles. 4 questions
What type of heating does it have
Does it still have Grannie charger included
Will the existing spare wheel still fit. When can we get delivery, can't wait
My existing zS EV is brilliant but want the extra milage
Thanks
And does it have a heat pump installed?
PTC heater
Yes it comes with 10A granny charger
Spare wheel is same fitment
@@milesrobertsuk Thanks Miles
When you're talking to "us" I'd prefer if you looked at the camera, i.e. "us", rather than over the top of the camera or the side....but thank you for the good review.
Great video will it be on the mobility
Not straight away, as supply is limited initially, but hopefully by April 22
@@milesrobertsuk hi Miles and many thanks for your reply
MG SAIC should bring the ev cars in the asian markets like Philippines to create zero emission from cars running on the road and contribute solution to climate change locally.
What’s the 0-100 or 0-60 on the new model
0-60mph is 8.2s, 0-100kmh is 8.4s
Electric car super 👌 future
as long as probably this mg zs e.v. have to improved on the ground clearance comparitive with the other cars like a tata nexon E. V. g.clearance is 205 m.m.
Shame about the continued lack of Reach adjustment, but in all other respects quite a leap forward by MG. Thank you Miles for this long awaited car!
I'm actually pretty sure this one has reach adjustment.
@@buzzbuzz68 Apparently not I'm sad to say!
The MG EU brochure says the new zs EV long range has 2 way adjustable column. Perhaps this is a misprint or they just mean up AND down!
@@davidallantaylor Yes, up and down = 2 way. The driver's seat has 6 way adjustment = up and down, forwards and backwards and the seat back reclines and rises. If it's any different, I'll let you know after I test drive it after 22nd....... but, according to Miles Roberts, it's just up and down.
@@Olivarus238 just reminding you to fill us in after your test drive. It’s the 23rd in Australia now so hopefully you’ve had a chance to drive it 😊
The look is greatly improved. overall i thinks is a good upgrade. i am very tempted as a replacement for our Qashqai to go along side our Leaf. Just a couple of things holding me back - the towing capacity of 500kg is really too low, should have been at least 1000kg. also it was a shame to see the charging speed at 90kw/h. I believe charging speed is actually slightly more important that battery capacity for those who do longer journeys and a speed of 125-150 i think is minimum for new cars going forwards really
We will test the real world charging speed once we have our own demonstrators and I can run it down below 50% 👍
Hardly any chargers give out more than 50kw. Yes the amount is increasing but can't predict where the locations will be.
@@madonemt that’s simply not true. 🤦🏻♂️
@@MrPWalden I have been driving an ev for almost 4 years and have yet to encounter ones besides tesla superchargers. Cars are being miss sold based on super fast chargers as there aren't that many about in most parts of the country.
@@madonemt every charger I went to on a recent trip from Sussex to Somerset ended up being 120kw or more. Felt a bit bad on a Zoe charging at 44kw! So it is getting there, but I agree it’s still not a complete deal breaker due to lack of infrastructure. Also if it would cost another £5k to add it probably isn’t worth the trade off.
Will be interesting to see the charge curve too - sometimes headline speed and actual overall speed is quite different
Thank you milesperkwhr.
thank you for this great review. Ordered one in red here in Netherlands (luxery long range, which is basicially trophy connect afaik) primerily based on this video and will be delivered in a month (they are in transit as we speak). Our ev benifits will change quite a bit in 2022 so good job to MG to make sure they will get in europe before end of year.
Congratulations! I'm sure you'll enjoy your new car. 👍
Yesterday I bought one too (luxury long range)in the Netherlands but they said its far from a garantee these will arrive before the end of the year (Van Mossel)……
@@Polsmika i guess they reserved a lot of them for the lease due to this benifit program. Since you bought, there is less incentive to reserve them i guess. Basicially they just ordered a bunch of them and i was able to reserve one of them. It is also via van Mossel.
Lucky you guys, here in UK we are looking at march delivery.
@@Pykenike1 just received confirmation I can pick mine up next week! Thanks MG!
3 isofix? MG keeps improving their cars by listening to the customers but keeps ignoring safety testing. The 25.000 pound chinese ORA cat 3 that is on his way ( competitor) will arrive with a 5 star safety rating. Id3, skoda enjay, kia niro, kyundai kona all have a 5 star safety rating....
I'd imagine that this version will also get 5-star on NCAP test. The only reason they didn't test the MG5 was that without the forward collision detection etc, it's impossible to get more than 3*, and they knew they were going to facelift it soon after the initial launch.
