As said by someone else. The look of the old fittings and machinery of the old shop is actually quite beautiful. I think you should use those things to “decorate” the new shop as a nod to your beginnings. Other than that, GO FULL SEND BROTHERS!!!
IF it were me, and if the budget allows, I'd keep the current shop space for your personal shop/back shop/long term storage space, and move the business side of the shop to the new space. That way you can still keep some of the rarely used tools in the old shop, as well as having a good space to work on personal projects.
First and foremost congratulations on the new HQ for LAS. The new home looks incredible for what you have to do. There are so many possibilities for all that space. Warehousing some of your less used equipment, general storage for the essentials. There are so many different areas to be considered, you have a headache for the conceivable future, but that is a good position to be in. The the major thing to get done is the refurb of the areas you have definite plans for, then sorting out what you have to have and what you don't need, that is going to be a problem in itself. All in all, you have a lot to do, and I Wish you all the best with the whole thing. It is about time you had more than your fair share of some good luck and good fortune! If I wasn't on the other side of the pond, I'd like to come and help, but I'm too decrepit to travel all that way (well not too old 69), just have health problems that mean I have to stay where I am. Anyway best wishes from UK.
Awesome that you guys are getting involved with Riverdale! I'm part of MAKE Roanoke, which is a group dedicated to creating a makerspace in Roanoke. We've talked to some of the wonderful people at ArtSpace, and hope to be able to become a part of the community that they're building at Riverdale. It really is an amazing space.
Few things about this, Its awesome a place like this gets used and not bulldozed and forgotten like many places across America. The Industrial Park around me was switched from an older DDO, but far to expensive for ordinary people. We're talking 267,540 square foot wood framed, steel-sided warehouse facility is divisible into bays of approximately 44,590 square feet each. Ceiling height is 14’ minimum at the eaves rising to 24’ maximum at center. Smallest is that 44,590 sq ft which can run close to $3-5k per month, even seen other building with 25,000sq feet but still would run $2-4k per month I was looking for a place for indoor RC track, carpet etc.. So many places have been shutdown but you don't make much money from a hobby like RC racing so it would have to be cheap. This is something maybe that place could do if someone in the area would be up to it. idk
Excited to see you expand. You're shop renovation is how I found the channel and you're approach to building kept me around. It's been a blast to see the team grow. Watching you guys integrate new tools and techniques into your builds has been a blast.
Excellent! I love to see a small business grow and y'all are doing great! I've been watching LAS since you posted the original machine shop clean out/renovation. Keep up the great work and keep posting videos. Y'all are AWESOME!
I just started following you and your dreams, and wanted to say Congratulations on your new endeavors and always remember To be blessed with the people that surround you and love you. And also don't stress, everything cones with baby steps and patience
Happy for you and the fellas. Can’t wait to see the shenanigans you get into at the new shop. Ask them to paint a mural outside, would brighten up the area!
Hit the SEND Button Brother! Looks like an Awesome Shop in a Great Location with a very cool History. The amount of square footage is amazing. I’d be getting that Steam Genie’d and getting moved in ASAP. Great Choice!
Tay, I wish you and your employees a real good luck, have followed you throughout the journey in the previous premises, everything from you tearing everything out and renovating the premises and all your films, incredibly interesting journey you have made. That said, good luck and hope you manage your niche and have a productive and interesting time ahead. Keep up the good work, I appreciate your dedication. 🙂
holy crap what a great area. currently in the military looking to get out soon and open my own powder coating buisness and been struggling with finding a spot to open shop and settle down and that facility just sent my creative juices into a tidal wave hah. what a bad ass spot man, congrats to you and your team on the move and upgrade!
Your new space has so much potential. You build any future stairs sideways, given the cavernous interior. And no more bother with parking outside. And if you trip over any cables you’ll have so much further to fall.
That sounds awesome. I also like, that there are people that turn such a place into something, instead of demoing everything to build horrendously expensive housing.
How exciting! looking forward to seeing the change. I work for one of the big three but also have my own shop with machines to make or grind whatever. Always keep the faith and I will be along for your journey.
There's something extremely special about those old buildings. That Price Fuller machine shop is like the epitome of nostalgic beauty. I hope you and your dad keep the building.
Congratulations on growing and expanding into a new shop! It might be nice to hang pictures of the old shop in your new space, like a timeline where Lift Arc Studios started. And maybe also hang a few decorative items. If I had the money and opportunity, I could spend my whole life at such a place, turning it into a cool business center, maybe even finding use for all the underground structures. What about windows and daylight from above?
Tay that area looks like something that BDS would have explored and salvaged. Maybe your dad has something for a sign. Good luck with the new shop - looking forward to the progression. Stay safe.
Very Neat New Space ! Like the big bay doors, guessing that will shape layout for stationary machines around perimeter and hopefully mobile wheeled tables in central areas to be located as needed ? The description by bldg engineer made me think since you need office space, and bathrooms, maybe borrow or buy an RV mobile home or a tiny home even if you want a more comfortable situation ? That could wheel in from one of the bays after most move in work is completed and be mobile still if relocation is deemed necessary for a BIG project... I'm presuming one of the bay doors aisle space should be kept open for best access by 18 wheeler and deep enough aisle for parking overnight ? Another option could be a few sea containers located to allow some wide aisles in between, with a mezzanine built above for open office spaces, the containment being for overhead lighting, fume ventilation and noise reduction... A mobile gantry crane or two may be in your future projects list, something like my friend Doug built here : th-cam.com/video/kK1puLj4bFc/w-d-xo.html The sea containers might also become a sideline as work... you could modify and sell them for remote industrial site work, or homes perhaps ? You mentioned a residence option in the RIC as well as work ? Also, what happens if a brewer moves into complex ? Is that your kryptonite ?
Dang! I've been watching since the beginning! I got to meet your dad at Blackdog and he mentioned that we both are normal sized. 😊 Very proud of you guys. Congrats!
Congratulations on the new shop! I was a welder/fabricator for 10 years before I became a K9 handler for the state. I retire in 2 years and I am currently trying to set up my retirement job of the only other thing I know how to do that does not involve a dog looking for bombs.
@@LiftArcStudios It is an awesome job, and the bond you get with your K9 partner can not be described. You would have to live it to understand it. Soon I will be retiring my 3rd k9 as my career comes to an end, and I open the doors on my small Fab shop I have been working my butt off doing all the OT I can get I buy what I need outright. I have been watching your videos for a long and Keep up the great work and I can't wait to watch how your new shop evolves.
I WILL definitely follow all the build. What your team was doing at the end, laying out the floor plan would be a great video. aka pushing little of paper around 🙂🙃
Exciting times ahead for you and your team. Looks like a great place and the owners obviously have a great vision in making this area a thriving hub of creativity. I have recently moved my metal shop to larger premises here in Auckland, New Zealand and that move regenerates one's enthusiasm for your business. Enjoy your new chapter.
Congratulations guys. It’s been great to see this business grow. During my time of watching this I’ve done a bunch of welding certs with a view to doing a small version of this but working full time and running a house leaves little time to grow the business. It genuinely is an inspiration seeing this. Thanks for all the great videos. Congrats again from Ireland.
Congrats on your journey too! We're biased but you know how much we love welding. So glad you're watching with us from Ireland, really a wonderful place!
Congrats on the upcoming move. I have been watching your videos for quite sometime and they are both informative and inspiring to watch. I look forward to many more in the new shop as well as the move. I run a shop here "down under" in Australia doing welding and fabrication, cnc plasma cutting and machining working in a smaller shop.
We leased space in the park in the 80’s. Did a lot of maintenance for the previous owners. If you get a chance explore the tunnels especially where they grew mushrooms. Was there in 1985 and did most of the cleanup and road repairs. It’s a great space looking forward to the progress.
@@LiftArcStudios I believe the building you are in was part of the old Moores lumber distribution center. We did a lot of paving and some rr track work around your building. I remember the roof top rooms on several buildings, the one I went in was used for ventilation for some of the old machines, It was in essence a big water pad fan. I don’t know about yours. One story I like to tell is about the four story building that fronts on 9th street had huge open spaces with hardwood floors inset. We took the roll cage off my bobcat and put it in the freight elevator and used it to rip out all the old hardwood this was before solid tires we kept four tire rotating out when we got a flat. Sorry I don’t think I have any pictures (before digital cameras or cell phone cameras). I’ll pass some “flood” stories along as I have time. Does the railway historical group still use the space over there for storage and restoration? The big cement ponds (as we called them I used to stockpile mulch in. The water for the park used to be supplied by a big spring across the river via a 16inch water line. We made more than one repair on that as well.
I've never seen your channel before, however the TH-cam algorithm hath smiled upon me I can't wait to see what you guys do with the space, and hopefully learn more about the industrial park
Awesome expansion! gonna miss the old place though - thought it was so cool that you moved into a space that old! I am sure that it will find a new use and that you'll doj just fine at the new space!
Always loved old industrial areas, old factory’s, old buildings. Always wondered why most parks do not like people to live and work there. With housing on full crazy prices, seem like a win.
For sure, the separation I think had to do with an older way of thinking where there was a clear division of home and work and play. There's something nice now about finding that all in the same place!
Congratulations! I am a retired engineer in my 70’s who has done significant work on 5 continents and have lived on 3 of them . Remember, “ if your green you grow if you let yourself get ripe and comfortable you rot” ! This move will keep you green!
Thanks Pete! Our mantra lately has definitely been "Scared money don't make money!". We're going to be trying and making a lot of new things in the future so stay tuned!
Been following you (and ofcourse the crew) from the first move into the “now old” shop. Congratulations to you and the team, best of luck and FUN moving in!
I have a 14’x22’ shop that I have a manual machine shop and fabrication capability. I moved all those machines into that tiny shop one at a time. The thought of moving my entire shop is daunting. I need to put it all in storage and level it for a 40’x50’.
The very best of luck to you I embarked on almost the exact same adventure here in Oregon almost 40 years ago. All I can say is you have the right people around you: the lo atoon, the energy and the values. That's your unbeatable trinity for unlimited expansion. Looking forward indeed to watching you grow... and perhaps a bit of help.
Thank you for the kind words, that is absolutely our goal in taking you all along on the journey. Edutainment feels like a weird way of saying it but its definitely our goal to keep you guys happy while showing you all what we know and are learning too!
Think about numbering & lettering the column grid -for planning, operations, and maintenance. Also, are you allowed to put windows in? Natural light and ventilation when it’s too cold or raining and you want to keep the big doors shut. Instead of painting a mural consider mounting brackets for a vinyl billboard sign set-up. You can change the sign as your business evolves.
Man that’s great. I’d love to have a shop that size. The Makerspace I’m a member of had 35,000, its still not enough. You sure did put a lot of blood & sweat into the other shop.
Yeah, the old shop will always have a special place in our hearts but we just got too big! And while it's still early, I can assure you, there's been a lot of blood, sweat, and bees involved in the next phase. Stay tuned!
It's always gratifying to see a business doing well but so great to see one expanding. Well done. The drone images / video add a nice perspective to that captured on the surface. Can you say whether you hire out the aerial photography or if you have a FAA Part 107 certificated drone pilot in your crew? Thanks for posting.
Congrats on the new space. You did an amazing job on the old shop it had somuch character. Hope you make the new one have the same (p.s. Please add an old style skylight like the old shop if you can get permission)
wow big move to expanding your work space can't wait to see the upcoming video of the work being done to your new place but i'll missed your old place !but again congratulations on make the big move good luck Tay and to the Lift Arc Studio crews
What an exciting upgrade for your business! i've been a sub since you cleaned out you present location and this is my first post. i've learned so much by watching you guys and i'm a 72 yo beginner i'm very excited to see what you guys do next!
If you own that space your in, You could always set it up as an art studio doing machine and weld work, then set up the other shop for larger projects. The old place has such a history it would be a shame to let it go. The old machines were great the look operation and so on. A slice of history, i hope you kept some. You could run a few art type jobs Make small items you can sell at a crafts show like woodworkers do, This gets your name out and you can talk about the next shop to promote the business. Make something like a widget spinner. Nuts and bolts try or even metal wheels that look industrial. Maybe even out door light fixtures
Tay and crew, I retied a few years ago. I leased a 1000 sq. Ft. building and built a man cave: home theater, kitchen, restroom, full wood and metal shop, recording studio and office. I saw your new space and said "I'm going to need a bigger shop". Such a beautiful canvas. I understand if you loose sleep with your plans/imagination. Something Walker doesn't seem to have!
As said by someone else. The look of the old fittings and machinery of the old shop is actually quite beautiful. I think you should use those things to “decorate” the new shop as a nod to your beginnings. Other than that, GO FULL SEND BROTHERS!!!

Wow, excellent. Can't wait to see your new setup and future projects. We'll done guys.
Oh how exciting! Good luck fellas with the move and redevelopment of the space. Can't wait to see how it transforms over time.
CONGRATS!!!!!!!
thank you!
I found this channel during the renovation and have been watching since then. So I am looking forward to the move and all the hijinks.
You will great things in your new shop.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We already have a bunch of great stuff planned so stay tuned!
Congrats on the next chapter hope you grow out of that in due time
Congrats and good luck to you guys!!!
Congrats on the new space. You did an amazing job on the old shop it had somuch character. Hope you make the new one have the same (p.s. Please add an old style skylight like the old shop if you can get permission)
We have a ton of big and fun plans for the new space so stay tuned!
Nice.
Good for you and the company. It’s great to see expansion.
However… I cannot believe that it’s been that long!!! Holy cow does time fly.
Your young with a new building and ideas a bound, good luck on this new project, I’m envious 👴🏻👍
Thank you for the kind words!
wow big move to expanding your work space can't wait to see the upcoming video of the work being done to your new place but i'll missed your old place !but again congratulations on make the big move good luck Tay and to the Lift Arc Studio crews
Congratulations
What an exciting upgrade for your business! i've been a sub since you cleaned out you present location and this is my first post. i've learned so much by watching you guys and i'm a 72 yo beginner i'm very excited to see what you guys do next!
Congratulations. A well deserved change of location. Nice digs.
Great to hear that you are growing! Good luck with everything!
If you own that space your in,
You could always set it up as an art studio doing machine and weld work, then set up the other shop for larger projects.
The old place has such a history it would be a shame to let it go.
The old machines were great the look operation and so on.
A slice of history, i hope you kept some.
You could run a few art type jobs
Make small items you can sell at a crafts show like woodworkers do,
This gets your name out and you can talk about the next shop to promote the business.
Make something like a widget spinner. Nuts and bolts try or even metal wheels that look industrial.
Maybe even out door light fixtures
Now this is huge... Both as in the square footage and huge as in what opportunities there could be in future
We hope so! We have a lot of fun builds, projects, and renovation in store!
Happy and excited for all of you. It looks like you have some place to park too. Hey, Brewery next store to your new place. What a great idea Tay.
😅
glad i found you! i love the work... hate the drama... subscribed
Thank you kindly! Not a huge fan of drama either
Excellent Tay. Lots of steel columns to back the lift truck into and everything 🤣 Good luck with the move
Good luck with the move 👍👍👍
Sweet! I can't wait.
You and me both!
Loved the old shop but happy to see you continue to grow. Best of luck in the new place.
Thank you sir! We're going to miss the old place too but excited to share the new location with all of you as well!
Congratulations man!!! You bring a hope and inspiration. I just moved into a warehouse so i know it’s not a cheap endeavor. Keep chugging along!
Live all of those lives.
I started following you guys after you released the uncut version of the clean up in your present shop.
It's been a blast so far. Keep it coming! :D
Thanks for the kind words and we're working on Walker! We still love'em though!
