Ubuntu can be used in old laptop i am using it in hp pavilion g3 and it is performing perfectly , one can do gaming through steam ,can do coding through visual code , can edit video and photo via gimp and blender , can view edit documents using libre office Linux is at another level when it comes to free and open source
Please dont say generally to new users that "linux" is user friendly, tell them specific lightweight distros like linux mint, cuz most general users would understand ubuntu from linux, and ubuntu isnt definitely for old laptops as it uses gnome, though i dont even recommend ubuntu to people having high specs even

I removed this ssd and connected with the other laptop. Ssd is not appearing in file manager of the other laptop but I can see ssd is available in device manager. There is some important data in my ssd I want to get the data back. Please guide me to solve this problem

Chrome os flex is seems to be very promising for old laptops. But my experience haven't been that good. I had an hp laptop (core i5 8250u, 8gb ram, 512 M2 SSD), but chrome os flex did not support the wifi chipset in the laptop, thus i was not able to install chrome os. So if someone is thinking about installing chrome os should check if there wifi chipset supports or not.

ubuntu is good but not for very old laptops as its mostly gnome based
Arch linux is far better debian packages are atleast 2 3 months older and many packages are just not available.

Bhai Chrome os is not full fledged computer, if you want full PC experience in old PC try out Zorin os 16 lite which is Xfce based and its super fast
I use Linux mint tho. Because my printer only works with mint.

It can be used for programing and its very great at it due to linux support, at least better than windows on the same laptop.

I will suggest you xfc versions of linux. Works fine with old desktops.
Processor must not be older than those of the year 2010. Use XFC versions of Linux distros for PCs older than 2010.
