Got a pair of Darn Tough socks, they are hands down the best. I've worn Smartwool and the Darn Tough are better. The only issue is the price, its a once a year or as needed purchase. I'm not going to be replacing every sock in my drawer immediately, but over time they are replacing the rainforest store specials.

Can confirm about those Turton scissors. Luckily I got to skip the normal 6-month wait for a pair of Ernest Wright scissors because they had some extra left-handed models from pandemic-related logistics issues. Had them for nearly 4 years now and honestly have no regrets. No more blades just squeezing something instead of actually cutting, obscured lines of sight, and contorting my hand and neck for precise cutting. They still cut through chicken and turkey bones, veggies, seafood, cloth, nylon, leather, etc and come apart for easy cleaning. Couldn't recommend them more for left-handed people who use frequently use scissors.
Those waxed boot laces are absolutely great. I’ve been using them for years, and love what they become after about a month of use. The 63” fit and look great on my Iron Rangers, and might last just as long.
Been watching some of your older videos. You're definitely making me lean towards a Pacific Northwest boot on a side note without saying too much. My stepson works at ski sundown so I think we might be close to neighbors
@CarlMurawski i work for sss out of canton do you have any recommendations for an insulated work boot that will hold up to kicking a shovel this winter
Lots of good stuff on your list and all at different price points which is nice. My thing is I usually think about just spending time with some of family, until I’m around them for a while and then realize why I don’t spend more time with them in the first place. I think I might just go with the socks this year.
@CarlMurawski you may have already talked about it but Filson isn't using pendleton for the wool anymore. For me at least pendleton was the last reason I was still buying Filson products.
Hey Carl, quick question. Do you have any recent info on Eugenia and gaucho boots? I placed an order in may and have had good communication until about 6 weeks ago. I was told at the time that the boots were ready to ship ( for the 3rd time since July) and now I’m getting no response from any communication. I hope everything is well, but I have to say I’m afraid I may never get my boots! I hope I am wrong! Any info would be great! Thanks again for the great content! I appreciate the hard work
I really appreciate your thoughtful and curated list and pumped that it ranges quite a bit pricewise and still BIFL! Also appreciated your message at the end.
Excellent list Carl, can I play too? - Compact Brass Beard Comb from Metal Comb Works - Kaweco Brass Sport fountain pen - Lee Valley modified clamshell scissors for the kitchen - Woolpower socks, I usually get the 400 weight - Wundies wool underwear, get the 5 pack it’s a little cheaper Definitely have my eye on Heimat stuff, seems good value.
Boardroom socks ! USA made and they do make a great heavyweight sock line as well as dress. Altai boots makes the best "sausage laces" have never had them come untied ! Thanks for the vid ! 👍👍
Totally agree on Darn Tough socks. For the money you won't do better and their warranty is crazy. I have one pair and I have literally worn them so much that the elastic won't hold them up anymore. I need to get another pair.
Turton Scissors "available in left-hand version" - Oh hell yes! I wonder if they say "lefty" on them like my old glue covered ones from elementary school that I still use? Great suggestion - I'm in!
i know you were joking but i just checked mine just to be safe - no "left-handed" or "lefty" written on them, sadly. But they are worth every penny if you're a southpaw who uses scissors a lot. I've put mine through the ringer and the blades are still sharp and I've never been scared of them breaking or buckling under the pressure.
Have you tried bamboo socks? Living in south Texas we have hot summers and the Redback bamboo socks have been the best thing. I have darn tough that are doing fantastic right now, but with 100+ temp days they're a bit much. Bamboo still has some cushion but has some incredible sweat wicking properties. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on them for summer work wear. Cheers!
I bought three pairs of Darn Tough socks and I stopped using all my other socks ever since. I can easily use them two or three times before I feel the need to wash them, and that's after wearing them 8-10 hours.
Another well done video Carl. Looking like a Russian Oligarch in that Goral coat and smoking that fancy cigar!!!!! I do like the Darn Tough socks great for MN winters and work. Looking to see how your boot looks when that comes out.
Picked up a few of those Vermont Bowl Co bowls in maple and black walnut when Williams - Sonoma had them on clearance. Absolutely worth it, these are fantastic for snacking, displaying random doodads, or even as a catch-all for your keys and wallet. Great recommendation!
Great video, but I do have a question regarding the recommendation of the Mystery Ranch packing cubes. I read somewhere that Yeti had bought Mystery Ranch and that they were incorporating many of Mystery Ranches' products into the Yeti product offerings. Once Yeti has absorbed the Mystery Ranch products, based on their past practices, the Mystery Ranch brand will cease to be. "Please, don't misunderstand me," I love Yeti...having purchased their mugs, their insulated water jugs, cooler(s), a Yeti backpack and two of their 60L Go Boxes, etc. I love the brand, but their history seems to predict that Mystery Ranches' days are numbered. Just saying...
Always bulk buy socks/underwear through wholesale regardless of design or brand . Such a good saving vs buying at retail get 2500 no name mixed material pairs for 200-300 a box. Brand new socks and underwear make great shoe trees vs having a few wooden or plastic ones that while nice are useless past storing or using for maintenance etc shining shoes with them in.
