This is such an amazing film. The performances of Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal should have gotten Academy Award nominations at the very least. Glad to see you guys watch this one, hope you’re doing well, please take care and have a great day!
The wildest plot twist is when Holly Jones says near the end that the girls were originally in the pit, but then she took them into the house because she was lonely without Alex, and that gave the one girl a chance to escape. That means if Keller hadn't kidnapped Alex, the girls likely would have stayed in the pit and not survived. It really challenges the viewer to think about the morality of Keller's actions.
It shouldn't challenge anyone. You can't predict the future. Keller's actions leading to the girls surviving was a complete accident. You can't go back to something that was bad at the time and say "oh that was good actually" because of unintended consequences.
@@darkphoenix2but the question is, can you say that Keller wasn’t right Kidnapping Alex? I mean kidnapping isn’t right of course but I think, many parents would do the same after hearing what Alex told him on the parking lot
@@tylerskufden Yes, he wasn't right. Alex was innocent. This is exactly why vigilantism is against the law. A regular person doesn't have the tools or moral authority to pursue what they think is justice on their own. Keller's actions don't even lead to finding the girls. Joy escapes by herself, and Loki was there to save Anna as a result of his job.
@@darkphoenix2 This is the kind of movie however that makes you really think about morality and what true justice is. It's not as black and white as saying vigilantism is wrong, especially with how broken the legal system is. It's a brilliant film really.
This movie did not get the recognition it deserved. Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Melissa Leo all deserved Oscar nominations. I loved this movie and when I saw it, I thought it was going to be a huge hit and it wasn't. Very underrated.
Everyone talks about Hugh and Jakes’ performances which were amazing. But, my hat’s off to Paul Dano and Melissa Leo!!! Holy crap we’re they top notch in their roles. Great movie!!
Paul Dano is one of my all-time favorites! "There Will Be Blood" is an excellent example. Also "Little Miss Sunshine." He was cast perfectly as the Riddler in my opinion.
The body found in The basement is the old lady’s husband. The maze was the necklace he wore. Sure there’s symbolic sense but it was the charm on his chain. He seemed to have been guilty of the crimes he committed in the past with all the children he kidnapped. He went to the Father’s house because he was remorseful in a sense, and stayed there until his death. The father helped cover it up. He may have even poisoned himself with the “drink” the lady used towards the end. That was a poison he created. I guess he thought he was paying for his sins in a sense. Both of the weird adults who were suspects were kids that were kidnapped in the past. Bobby and Alex I believe. They grew up to clearly be very disturbed adults.
The dude bragged to the priest. He wasn't remorseful, he thought he was the invisible man. Speculating on why he went to the father, is the point. Father Dunn killed him. He tied him to the chair and killed him. He confessed that to the police.
He was not remorseful, he bragged about it in confession. The father didn't help cover it up. He thought it would be better to kill a serial killer and hide the body rather than let such an evil serial killer continue to run free and kill more kids. That's the only reason why the grandma wasn't still kidnapping MORE children anymore, because her husband, the guy tied to the chair in the basement was missing.
In an interview Hugh Jackman did for the film, he said that for the famous hammer scene, during one of the takes he thought he had done a take where he got his most anger out of him and he thought that they would definitely use that take in the film, then the director Denis Villeneuve comes up to him and says, "That was good, but I need you to get really angry" and then the next take they did was the one in the film. Also, Denis Villeneuve quickly became my favorite of "current era" directors. He hasn't maken a bad movie yet.

Alex (the RV driver) is a kidnapped victim too . He was kidnapped 26 years ago when he wa a kid (as one scene shows while Loki is reading a paper), that one lady Loki questioned that said she went for a nap and left him playing outside (as a child) then never found him again. The paper says (Kidnapped child meets with his parents 26 years later), Idk if you guys included this scene but I've seen it in the alternative cut.
The reason they found the sock outside of their house - if you remember earlier the guy who was drawing the mazes snuck into both families houses. He snuck in and took the girls's clothes from the houses, which is why he was in possession of the clothes that the parents identified. When he took the socks from the house he dropped one outside by the window. That's the sock the detective found. So he took the clothes, but he never had the girls. He was just a weird guy who was obsessed with serial killers. That's why he went to the vigil and why he took the clothes.
He wasn't obsessed with killers, he was kidnapped by the family and drugged with the LSD bottle mixture at a young age but escaped. It causes brain damage. He was obsessed with trying to solve the unsolvable puzzle maze.
Eminem produced the soundtrack and was going to play the lead role in that movie. The screen writer also used Em's life as inspiration for the movie. Jake Gyllenhaal killed it!

This is SUCH a great film. Everyone’s acting feels so incredibly real. When Hugh Jackman’s character lets out his frustrations in the car about how every minute she’s wondering why her dad hasn’t saved her yet, not the cop, her dad…oof. Chills every time. Also, I’m not sure if it’s been commented yet but the fear on Terrence Howard and Paul Dano when Jackman smashes the sink is genuine, he wasn’t scripted to do that and they had no idea he was going to so it scared them both.

Oh fam! I am so glad yall watched this! Me and my partner watched in the theater in Sep 2013 on a really rainy night. I fell in love with this film instantly. Such a scary, thrilling and rewarding EPIC film! It holds a special place in my heart, which is a weird thing to say about such a dark film; but I just remember being on the edge of my seat the whole time in the theater. Really good memories. I love yallz channel and yallz relationship
This was a wild movie! Glad y'all enjoyed it! The police officer played the reporter in Zodiac, which I think y'all reacted to already. It's Jake Gyllenhaal. :)
I think the only significance of the maze was- it was a symbol the abductor wore. And the boys saw it all the time. And due to the trauma and ptsd, that dude seemed to fixate on it. I don't think it represented anything more.
This came out a year after my son was born a nd i had a hard time watching this. It took me almost ten years to rewatch it. Once you become a parent, some of these topics hit harder.
@Slankadanka everyone I ask about this movie has never heard of it much less seen it. No one talks about it. At least not where I am. I know it got a lot of exposure when it was on Netflix.
My parents and I watched this movie on a whim 10 years ago, the moment it was known both the girls were taken (my parents have two children also both girls) my parents said their stomachs had that sinking feeling and had so much dread. Was heavy to watch it through but we all loved it as it truly was an incredible movie. Everyone’s acting was phenomenal
1:03:20 I think that was just a pedestrian who was protecting the girl from being hit by a car. they wouldn't reveal Holly to the audience this early imo.
The clues to solve the case are there all along but blind rage prevents both men from doing it. The movie is a take on "The Minotaur and the Maze" a Greek fable about men who lost themselves in search of a monster.
Now, y'all gotta react to "SILENCE", "The Departed", "V for Vendetta", "Man In the Iron Mask", "Lone Survivor", "Society of the Snow", "SPHERE", "Event Horizon", and "Meet Joe Black". ALSO, y'all need twitch the old Amazon show, "Orphan Black"!

Jake Gyllenhaal played the cop . Two other movies that Jake Gyllenhaal played in that you would like are "Zodiac " and "Night Crawler " . Loving your reactions, btw 👍 . Watching from Canada 🇨🇦 😊.
Seriously, one of the best movies I have ever seen in theaters. Every actor went all in on this movie. So so good.
I've been waiting for you guys to do this film!!! Excellent!
The cop was a nahtzy cop on Banshee for a bit. I remembered because of his tattoo. You might like Banshee.
Yes! I love Melissa Leo and she did such a great job in this.
Everything about the film is amazing though. One of my favorites.
He plays that kind of deranged psycho well. He was the riddler in the Batman.
I know he’s a “victim,” but the role is similar.
Its been years since ive seen this movie. I wouldnt even hear about it, if i wasnt browsing thru Jake Gyllenhaals IMDB movies. Love the reaction
This movie is so bad underrated. Not enough people know about it. Glad you finally saw it.
@Slankadanka everyone I ask about this movie has never heard of it much less seen it. No one talks about it. At least not where I am. I know it got a lot of exposure when it was on Netflix.
Great movie, amazing acting!!
My favorite drama movie ❤ such a great actor’s 🎬🍿
My parents and I watched this movie on a whim 10 years ago, the moment it was known both the girls were taken (my parents have two children also both girls) my parents said their stomachs had that sinking feeling and had so much dread. Was heavy to watch it through but we all loved it as it truly was an incredible movie. Everyone’s acting was phenomenal
One of my all time favorite movies for sure
What a Great Film. Outstanding Performance's From Everyone Involved. Great Reaction From You Both, I Knew You Would Enjoy This Thriller.
Jake Gyllenhaal was a dawgggg in this movie…this is my favorite role by him…bro would be a bomb ass Batman😮💨😮💨🔥🔥
one of my favorites
Jake one of my top cats and one of the best movies ever.
Must watch Nightcrawler with him, crazy
One of my favorite movies. Glad you two were able to watch it. :)
FANTASTIC movie that flew under my radar for years.
I always forget how stacked this cast is.
YESSS my favorite movie of all time. So glad you reacted to this!
Such a good movie ❤
The Cops name?? You know there's "CREDITS" at the end of the movie LOL
This is actually the first film that made me look up Jake. One of my favorite
Dennis Villeneuve is an amazing director. He's from Montreal Canada (where I live)
Saw this in theaters and loved it. I didn't realize until years later we'd get Blade Runner and Dune from the same director.
Reelin' with Asia and BJ , amazing video
Brilliantly directed.
"Gone Baby Gone" and "Conviction" has to be on the watch list! Pretty please. 😅
they filmed a scene of Jake discovering Hugh but the director didn't use it as he felt the movie wanted to end at 58:05
I discovered you guys a few weeks ago! I subscribed! I like watching you guys react to tv shows/movies! I’m just like Asia when I watch scary movies . 🤣💕
Great movie!!!
Such an underrated movie that not many people talk about 🔥 one of my favorite thriller movies
Not BJ guessing the twist as a joke not even half way in 😂😂
If you follow the maze which was the necklace around the dead body would lead you to the kidnappers / killers
This is one of my favorite films and definitely one of Jackman's best performances.
I had such a great time rewatching it with you! ❤
