Eldon and Rudy Pelletier of Maine, stars of American Loggers, speak about the crisis facing loggers due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for aid to the industry.
I wish somewhere in Washington DC someone would have courage to stand up and make something happen before its to late. Loggers have worked hard to get where they've gotten, and to lose it because big shots are only concerned about keeping their own pocket lined . Loggers are a hard class of people too . Something needs to change fast like yesterday.
Well these people who are asking for money ..in order to keep there multi million dollar operation going..well I find this hard to wrap my head around this as my family and I are struggling to keep a Roof and food even doing uber eats and door dash but millionaires beg for hand outs .downsize your multi million dollar operation to a size where your budget isn't breaking you..
Wow. You are beyond ignorant about the logging industry. These guys are not millionaires, the bank owns all that equipment. There just fighting to survive. And have actually went out of business recently. After 60+ years of hard work family business. No other companies have taken there place
Very nice people me and my family went up to see them and eat at their restaurant we met there mother at the motel and she was asking us where we were from and what we were doing up there when I told her we came up to eat at their restaurant she smiled and said those are my boy’s I was thinking ya ok but at the restaurant there was her picture on the wall
down size like everyone else. the trees aren't going anywhere. if you can't survive a new company will start up. if its needed there will be demand. you are a contractor like home building, excavating concrete. not a dying industry that will never recover. a Massachusetts tree climber
They should have never stopped. It’s needed for construction. Construction didn’t stop logging shouldn’t have either. Who made the call for it to be stopped there?
logging is essential here. the last mill we lost hurt the industry. sw pulp is hard to move and the local mill here only can take so much. i really dont believe the virus has hurt them as much as the mill lose,s.
maybe they put there money in to the business i just cant feel bad for a business that crys poverty but has a qtr million dollar pulling truck. the tree sapping took a big hit over the virus yes but loggers are working and it,s the lack of mills to send wood too that really hurts most loggers right now
yes it looks like the logging company was closed last year. (If you look at the company building on google streetview, there is a different sign) and i found a document that said it was sold....but it looks like the new owners kept all the pelletier employees, so thats good!
These guys do need some assistance!! Downsizing is not the answer!! It's one of those situations that unless you know and understand the business its probably not gonna make alot of sense to you. I've hauled coal and logs all my life in eastern ky. It's hitting us in the coal business hard also...assistance is most definitely needed!!

Yes I can relate ,I'm a blood worm digger ,there is always a steady stream of support for lobster fisherman .from State and federal government
Regulators and courts are trying to eliminate lobstermen.
