just push it out from the back guys it’s way fuckin easier that lip isn’t meant to be crushed and pushed toward the back of the car you’re supposed to push the bushing out from the back of the car towards the front

i havent seen any videos of people installing Prothane 6601. which is the same bushing with out the outside sleeve. so you just reuse the old sleeve. but all the info i found doesnt really show which way it should be. anyone install any Prothane bushings?

Yep, you're right! With that air chisel he could have popped it out in a couple of minutes if he had attacked the other side.

You can also puch the rubber out of the center of that bushing and then use a saws all to cut the metal sleeve out. Eazy peezy.

Any time you have to remove an old rubber bushing that is rusted in and swollen it is easier to remove the stress with a drill before going at it with air hammers, torches, ect. I drill a series of holes (careful not to drill steel) until the damn thing is swiss cheese. It will pull right out and all you need to do is remove the outer shell by collapsing it. No press needed for removal.

I cut the rubber out and use my torch to slice the outer sleeve of the bushing. Nice video

I feel your pain! 😬 The air hammer usually makes a bigger mess. Glad you still got the bushing replaced. 🙂👍

Good video. As info you should have jacked up the truck, taken the tire off, jacked the axle up and removed the lower shock mount and spring then lowered the axle. You had trouble aligning the bolt holes because your were fighting the spring and the weight of the truck.

Question I have a f150 1996 2WD neither of the old OEM bushings are fully inserted/seated. On the flange side, the flange is about a 1/4" out from full insertion into the I-beam. So it looks as if there is about the same amount of bushing protruding from either side of the beam. I noticed yours was fully seated before you took it out. This is the first OBS Ford suspension I've working on so not sure to fully seat the new ones or match the old bushings. Wondering if the old OEM bushings were seatted that way from factory and normal? I would have thought it would have seated all the way in. Anyhow I see you fully seated yours so im assuming you didn't have any issues with squealing/rubbing noise. Appreciate your input. Thanks

I leave the about 3/16" from being fully inserted.

@@garypatton9720 Initially, I planned to leave some clearance, but using my Milwaukee High Torque, I accidentally fastened them quicker than expected 🤣. Nevertheless, there are no squeaks or unusual noises. I replaced the entire suspension components, and now it drives like new! Appreciate the response👍 Gotta love OBS Fords.

I drilled the rubber out or mine with a drill bit then used a metal blade to cut the old metal out. Hammer and chiseled the rest out pretty easy.
I still said f*** that part though after hahaha I feel the pain

Was that pivot bushing causing a popping noise?

Anyone had luck welding the inside of the bushing like you would a bearing race causing it to shrink when the weld cools

Someone throw in a aftermarket muffler on the factory exhaust system? My 95 EB doesn’t have that rumble
