      I feel like for both the phone portrait shots, y’all need to use the inbuilt photo editor to adjust the blur, just saying that it would be fair since you’re not exactly modifying the colours or other details except for a blur filter.

    Wow! That Samsung is looking great without any camera updates. Excited to see what happens with a couple of updates to optimize everything. I don't think many people use 8K. It takes up way too much memory & the 4K looks nice so no need. That 10X at night is really surprising. Hope they fix that.

    • @ronangan
      @ronangan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      If you want to take a 8K footage, it has to be under very good lighting and with a stabilizer... Missing one of those, you'll surely get crappy footage...

    • @EggTamago7
      @EggTamago7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I don’t know if there’s really any fixing the 10x at night. It’s a f/4.9 lens, meaning it’s going to be pretty useless in the dark. On top of that, the degree to which you can leave the shutter open is reduced because you need to compensate for the long focal length. I think they made the right call with what they have to work with, tbh. The zoom range in good light is super impressive regardless.

    You can use pro mode to pick your lens and not let the phone decide in low light.
    Also, you can see which lens something was shot in just by seeing the details when viewing a photo.
    f2.2 2.20mm is Ultra Wide,
    f1.8 6.40mm is the regular lens,
    f2.4 7.90mm is the 3x
    f4.9 27.20mm is the 10x
    Be mindful of the phone using "detail enhancer" , its that little yellow prompt at the bottom left when you get somewhat close to something, what its really doing is switching to the ultra wide lens and cropping in, thats also what it does for those super close macro shots as well. So just quickly tap that yellow dot if it comes up to turn it off if you're just trying to use the regular lens

      Thanks for the lens detail info and the yellow button hint. The S22's PRO mode does let you improve shots once you have experimented enough, but it loses the smartphone ease-of-use advantage over a standard digital camera.

    At 16:37 - It's not fake 10x. It's 10x relative to the 1x lens which is 23mm FOV on the S22U, compared to 26mm FOV on the iPhone 13PM. 23mm * 10 = 230mm - wider than the 260mm on the 13PM.

  • @EggTamago7
    @EggTamago7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    Damn that was interesting. I kind of stopped keeping score because I noticed I had a tough time deciding between the two. In a lot of the images, I felt like there were parts of each image I preferred or found fault with. Outside of the obvious wins for each (daytime zoom/portrait lens/selfies/video quality), it’s a wash for me - there weren’t many slam-dunks. This reminds me a lot of pixel-peeping comparisons between a 5Diii and a D800 or something back in the day. Both obviously have their strengths and weaknesses, and you kind of just end up at a point where you shrug and say “both are good”. What’s truly shocking to me is how the Pixel is barely a part of the conversation anymore. I know it wasn’t compared here, but I already thought the S21 Ultra and 13 Pro did a much more consistent job than either of the Pixel 6 phones, and this comparison really emphasizes it.

You only took two video clips, but did one in 8k which is 24fps and then a 4k 30 fps shot, during dusk hours which should tell you the 8k was going to be worse because of the lighting situation. I got my first cell phone when they just came out. It was a Samsung flip phone that I had for five years and was still in top condition. I upgraded to a Blackberry that also lasted a few years. I then upgraded to an iphone because of all the hype. I can’t say that I loved it. Too many upgrades, some glitchy, and I found it in no way outstanding and worth the hype. I then went back to Samsung, bought the s6 in August of 2015. I just upgraded now in April 2022. Almost 7 years and was still working. Of course, I upgraded to another Samsung - S22 ultra. They are built to last. If one wants professional photography, then you would have to buy a professional camera and professional lenses, and all the accessories that go with it, which add up to thousands. At the end of the day, a phone is just a phone, and if you can get some good pictures and videos, all the better.
