Bri, so grateful that your channel skyrocketed over the last couple of months. Recipes are on point, personality is unique and welcoming, and videography is crispy af. If I may suggest you something to take this to a different level, visually, is to condition your cutting board, so it shines bright and that wood looks extra pretty on your videos. Anyways, keep killing it!
Thanks so much! My cutting board is super parched haha. From a photography standpoint I hesitate to oil the board because it makes it like 2 f stops darker and kind of messes with exposure. Something to think on though. Thanks
Oh and as long as we're roasting Bri on his lackluster kitchen maintenance, clean the grout flanking your stove! It's dirty and Lorn will have no idea you used her toothbrush if you give it a nice rinse afterwards
His cutting board is fine...He looks like us... His pans are old and trusty.. His spoons have stirred averything under yhe sun and will continue to do so,, his cutting board has seen better days, but will continue to perform as good as day one for a long time to come... His channel is skyrocketing because he isn't a pretentious prick, He's one of us.. Some shows have what seems to be new pots and pans for every episode... Some shows claim to make recipes better than any original....He doesn't... He just makes an awesome recipe with easy to obtain ingredients, and easy to follow step-by-step instructions..
If you have sourdough starter you can use it the exact same was that Brian uses the poolish. Prefermented dough adds a lot of character to all kinds of batters, I even used it for takoyaki and it was great.
Thank you so much, those savory waffles are the perfect recipe for me! One thing I've found especially difficult when looking for good breakfast and brunch recipes has been the sugar content; for many reasons, I try to keep the amount of added sugar and other sweeteners in my diet to a minimum. Offering savory or spiced versions of typically sweet recipes not only shows cleverness and versatility as a chef, it also shows consideration to people with different dietary needs. Thanks again, Brian!
ever since I found your channel a month ago I binge watched so kay videos of you and got inspired a lot. especially bread making has turned to my new passion. i also really enjoy that you use the metric system (you sound like you are used to imperial). that makes watching cooking videos so much more enjoyable since you don't have to google the amounts all the time. Thank you Brian for your hard work, keep it up
The best waffle recipe, I’ve tried so many others but this ones tastes the best. Other recipes were tasteless and some tastes soapy ( probably bcoz of baking powder) but i really recommend u try this one. Even for beginners its really easy to make. I used 1/4 of each ingredient to make 1/4 of the recipes which gave me about 5 small waffles.
Yo just dropping in here just to say I appreciate every single recipe you have shared with us, as a young home cook who just wants to make some tasty meals, Thank you Brian and keep up the good work! (any tips on how to actually make a good recipe would be highly appreciated)
Thanks for watching! I should do a vid on recipe development. I guess the main way I do it is just start with a recipe I think looks like it works. Or if I’m experienced with the dish, start with my own sketch of it, then cook it whole making notes then taste, tweak, repeat. Insult test at least 2x before I shoot the vid
Very flavorful waffle, but if you're like me, who likes sweet waffle with very tart jam, you need to add more sugar into the batter. I'm the kind that taste while making food, and decided to add the sugar afterwards and it mixed beautifully so you could do the same if you find that you need more sugar. Ended up adding around 50g more if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, thank you Bri, love the recipe!
I was all geared up for a week to make these today, Sunday morning. I screwed up and didn't get any milk, buttermilk of regular 🙃. I was so frustrated that I canceled the whole morning lol. After 30 minutes I decided I didn't want to waste the poolish so I just made the regular waffle mix and dumped most of the poolish in. What a great decision, the kids proclaimed them to be the best waffles ever. It has a great flavor without that sourness the kids aren't a big fan of from sour dough starter pancakes/waffles. The kids yelled "let's eat this thang" with glee before eating. Thanks Brian.
These are hands down the best waffles I have ever had! My hubby made these for us and he made a bunch to freeze! pop it in the toaster and there ya go!!! Better than any restaurant
Once upon a time Joey Fatone had his My Family Recipe Rocks traveling food show. One show he visited a firehouse where the fireman in charge of feeding his men used cornbread batter in a waffle iron just like Brian's and was served with chili. The waffles looked very good and took less time than oven baking.
I absolutely love this waffle recipe Chef. I had yeasted waffles during visits to Switzerland and have never been able to recreate the taste and texture. I’ll for sure give this one a try along with your fried chicken recipe. Can’t wait for dinner!
Delish! Exercise some caution when adding milk to brown butter or a hot milk butter volcano will erupt. Just remove butter from the heat and add the milk slowly until the temperature of the butter drops.
Looks good to me. I've got the same waffle maker and my first order of business was to remove the beeping. Who wants to hear that constantly going off every few minutes in the morning?!
I’ve posted once already but I wanted you to know as well that I’m very grateful for your recipe for these waffles!! I’ve been trying to find a recipe that is crispier on the outside and a chewier inside than the other recipes I’ve seen so far, this is the one I was looking for!! So thank you for sharing this recipe!!
I prefer waffles to pancakes because you can fill all the holes with syrup😊 I made a yeasted waffle a while back and its wasn't fluffy enough. I will have to try your recipe. My mom always beat the egg whites and folded them in and that made a great fluffy waffle.
Made these as thin waffles for Christmas breakfast and I kid you not...best waffles I've ever had. Even my 2 year old came back for thirds... THANK YOU for this and all recipes you put out there, and Merry Christmas to you and Lorn
I just had the best yeasted waffles ever in Playa del Carmen and now I need to recreate and/or possibly top them, so where else would I go than my man Bri. I knew you would have figured it out. Can’t wait to try these this weekend!
Waffles is something I've not done a lot of because I've only ever known them topped with maple syrup or jam. Basically sugar for breakfast. But this savory option, topped with a fried egg, is brilliant. Perfectly breakfasty. And followed up with a desserty little number, maybe even à deux, why not! 🤤 Love the way you always break things down. You're hands down my favorite channel, Bri. Always looking forward to your next vid. 👍
I love that you also give cup measurements for this recipe. I am watching your video from my forest cabin and we don't have a scale here. With cup measurement at least we can start the poolish tonight. :)
Who doesn’t love a good brunch! I’m a big fan. I am actually planning one for this weekend and I think I’m gonna try out this recipe. I just love learning from talented creators like you. Your channel has so much to offer. I make cooking videos too.
I have finally gotten a waffle maker. I looked up different recipes on TH-cam. Brian’s yeasty batter got my interest. I’ve just tried the sweet one. Scrumptious!!!! In few days, I’ll make the cheesy one. 😋😋😋 Thank you Brian!
Hey Bri, I use the poolish method to make angel biscuits. I just add the flour and butter “crumble” mixture to the poolish mixed with the buttermilk. I didn’t know poolish had a name. I just did it intuitively to make the biscuits.
I need to get a waffle maker. These recipes look great! I especially like the savory side of the house. One thing I think would go great with that berry compote is the version of mock devonshire cream I grew up with. Basically half and half cream cheese and sour cream sweetened with honey. It is ridiculously good! I am going to try to find a waffle maker and do this this weekend.
I'm a real maple syrup on the ham, cheese, and chive waffle kinda guy. Real maple syrup and egg yolk together is the nectar of the gods. The finest sauce imaginable.
I've just tasted yeasted waffles in a restaurant 😋. They were magnificent 😍, so many flavors. Just heaven: waffles with banana sprinkled with cinnamon and caramel and a scoop of ice cream. That was unbelievably delicious... so... I'm here and I'm definitely gonna make them with your recipe🔥
Hey Brian! I'm making this recipe for the 2nd time tomorrow! Loved it the first time! Having a hard time making the berries and cheesecake whip cream cuz it looks like a lot of work haha! Just butter and maple syrup was dope! Gonna add chocolate chips tomorrow!
Wow, Brian! I made the BERRY COMPOTE WITH CHEESECAKE WHIPPED CREAM WAFFLE for my New Years brunch. Holy moly, I never thought I could make something that delicious at home. You are a wonderful teacher! I'm a terrible student and I usually screw up and make a mess in the process. But you inspire me to try again and do better next time. This was the exception and these waffles came out wonderful the first time - still made a huge mess but it was so worth it! Thanks, what a berry, berry good way to start off the new year. P.S. I bought the waffle maker you use and even if I just pull it out for the holidays, the money was well spent.
I made these and they’re excellent. I think the poolish has the best flavor and aroma at about 12 hours. If you like a more sourdough like experience let it fester for 24h. My waffle maker browned these perfectly at 5min and not a second more. Toward the end of the batch the batter started getting extra bubbly and I had to use slightly less batter in the iron or it would bubble out pretty bad, but that made the waffles with the best combo of fluffy and crispy. So maybe experiment with letting the batter rest for several minutes before cooking them up, especially if your house is cold like mine. For me this made 7 full waffles which takes a while with just one iron so i was able to keep them crisp on a wire rack in the oven on the warmer setting at 150 without drying them out.
Also, i have an iron like the one he’s using here but i got the crispiest, most evenly browned results when i didn’t oil my waffle iron. I had zero issues with getting them to release. YMMV though.
Tried it. Felt the difference. But somehow my brown butter, milk got granulated on adding butter milk. May be I should wait till the milk and butter cools down. All in all happy that I tried it. Thanks mate.
I have that same exact waffle maker and I have some poolish on hand for making your recipe of baguettes. I think I’m gonna make waffles instead of baguettes now thanks
Loved the waffle batter, Brian. I shall try it tomorrow. I'll go prepare the polish now (1:30 a.m.) and shall try your savory waffle recipe 12 hours later :) -- thanks!

Easy one there Bri! Just get a maple board 🤓

Do you think you could use sourdough discard?
@@kristensmith9029 Yes, but add a tiny bit of baking powder if its discard, or you won't get enough air into your waffles.
This whole channel is nothing but absolute fire. I love it.

In your Poolish, ad a touch of molasses, lends a nice depth to your dough/batter and kick starts the yeast
Sturdy Spoon; the sturdy stirring spoon that stirs.
This is my go to waffle recipe. It’s so good. I like to make a bunch and then toast them so they’re extra crisss

This was so good! Made the cheesecake/berry compote version and it was the best waffle I’ve ever had. Well done Brian and thanks for the great recipe!
Lovely 👌🏻 Greetings from Scotland 😊 Have a wonderful day everyone 🌻
Hey 👋
🙋♀️ hello from Illinois...I'm in Brian's backyard.
Definitely worth a try - I'll schmear mine with Jiff and douse with Mrs. Butterworth's thank you very much!
Yes! I love savory waffles. When I made oven fried fish recently, I made waffles with hushpuppy batter. We ate the left over waffles with chili.
Hushpuppy waffles?????????????? Bruh.

Brian, you got me on this one. No waffles but pancakes instead for breakfast. No waffle iron. Thanks for the inspiration.
I can’t believe that you made savory waffles. Which I was searching for the same thing yesterday. 😅. Thanks Brian!
Thank you so much for sharing this yummy recipe 😋💖
It's a great cooking video, I'm also a chef and love making cooking videos, you did a great job!😋😋😋😋
The last one was fun and fresh
The waffle with the eggs looks sooooo good. Can't wait to make this. Thanks for sharing ✌
Ookay now this I will definately be making. Thanks Brian!
Best waffles I ever made, thank you Bri!
Amazing recipe: easy and the result is delish! thank you
I have that same exact waffle maker and I have some poolish on hand for making your recipe of baguettes. I think I’m gonna make waffles instead of baguettes now thanks
Homemade waffles are something I like to do from time to time, and I'm definitely gonna try the "poolish" method.
ALL of these are my new faves.
Liege waffles (real Belgians) have risen dough and pearl sugar. Absolutely fantastic.
would love for you to make thick pancakes!!!! Especially chocolate ones!! yummm!!!
This looks Awesome. I've done yeasted waffles before, but not via the poolish method. You rock kiddo
This recipe looks AMAZING. Guess I'm having these for breakfast soon.
Loved the waffle batter, Brian. I shall try it tomorrow. I'll go prepare the polish now (1:30 a.m.) and shall try your savory waffle recipe 12 hours later :) -- thanks!
Let me know how it goes!
"im a looser I can't even stir chives"
I died XD
Ooooh! I can’t wait to try these this weekend.
Oh man, these turned out great in my Belgium waffler… gonna need a nap this morning.
Haha I’ve been there.
Ohhh yeaahh finallyyyyy!!! Thank youuu bri!!!!

Been wanting to make your cinnamon rolls and now I’m deciding who I can invite over for a Saturday brunch so I have the excuse to make these as well.
I make these every single Sunday. LOVE them. But yo, where’s the pancake recipe??? We need something for saturdays dood.
Yum! I recently got a stuffed waffle maker and can’t wait to see if your recipe works with it
BIG BIG FAN FROM SOUTH AFRICA! :)
note to self: don't watch Brian's food videos at 12am because you'll keep thinking about the food and not sleep
I have that wonderful waffle maker and your instructions and recipes are dope. Making these ASAP.
That cheesecake waffle looks outrageous
It only took me seeing one of your vids to get me to sub. Keep it up brotha, can't wait to watch this channel grow
Just got a Belgian waffle maker. I'm excited Brian! Got to buy ap flower and butter milk now!!
The way he says “fried eggs” @ 7:56 like a back alley fried egg dealer, lmao. Hilarious
God no Bri! That hearty waffle sounds amaze balls!! Will definitely try those this weekend!!
Fantastic, thanks!
That last one was my favorite🤤
(Minus the hot sauce)
