    I miss Wizard Magazine, especially Twisted Toyfare theater (which evolved into Robot Chicken).

    I will have to admit that I am NOT a comic book junkie but diving into one and escaping everyday realty is something that is more appealing to me these days. The life of a husband, worker, dad, and now this pandemic... yeah, comic books sound like a win-win.
    The movie itself, well, it's simply a great movie for a teen or young adult to view. Maybe anyone of the legal age hahaha! Yes, it touches many areas of life in a vivid fashion. It's way out there but that's part of why it's so entertaining. I need to watch more of his current stuff because I need to know if he still has it (Kevin Smith). Great job, Robbie!!!

    Really enjoyed this analysis man. One of my favorite Kevin Smith movies growing up. I know everyone loves Clerks, but this was the one I really LOVED as a teen.

      Me too. I mean I love clerks too. And chasing Amy. And dogma. But this one will always be special to me.

    True story I grew up down the street where this movie was filmed and used to go up to this mall as a kid and teenager, food courts, the arcade all of it. Loved this movie too, I remember when they were filming there they had parts of the mall closed off for obviously filming etc.. it really is a 90's gem! All the stars this movie spawned as well, incredible.

    Mallrats and Dogma are my two favorite Kevin Smith movies. The piece of art that made me think like Mallrats did for you was Fight Club believe it or not. And not in the way people would think. To me FIght Club was not about a failed ideology, schizophrenia, or the criticism of the type of Capitalism the world runs on. For me Fight Club was about a person who kept living his day to day life without doing anything. And because of that his subconscious did it for him. It was about the dangers of just going through the motions and not living life.

    • @Nerdynomicon
      @Nerdynomicon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ooooooh. Fantastic analysis and something people don't discuss. See this is why art is so abstract. That isn't, according to the author, what the piece is about but I TOTALLY see that theme in the film. It's in there for sure. I love that take away.

    Oh man, Robbie! I still remember the day that I rented this movie from Movies Plus (George Urban/Dick Road) and brought it home. I have to say that I only watched it 2-3 times in my life. My first Kevin Smith experience was Clerks. Overall, I might enjoy the comedy of that one a little more but that doesn't diminish Mallrats. I lived the same era as you and realize how awesome it was to hang out at the mall. I LOVED arcades (even know the one at the Galleria Mall was way overpriced); I loved Putt-Putt. The relationship aspect of this one was real to me. I just graduated high school in June of 1994.
    Your breakdown was great to hear. I enjoyed how this one impacted you. I can't put my finger on a film that changed my life like this one did to you bu American History X could have helped me realize that hate truly is baggage. Congrats on 500!!!

    Definitely one of Smith's best. Hard to imagine that this only has 55% on rotten tomatoes. Also, RIP Stan Lee, his role in this is one of my favorites. Guess I'm binging now. Great review sir

    I agree. I loved Tim Burton’s Batman growing up, too. I loved the narration and editing with the music in this video. Great job and quality. 👌 I can’t wait for the new Justice League haha Kevin Smith has had some hilarious interviews. Have you seen the one where he talked about the guy who produced or was the exec of Wild Wild West? Crazy and hilarious and hard to believe story haha I haven’t seen Mallrats tho haha

    I think I saw this movie before but I'm not sure, maybe i was too young to remember but I can honestly say that the theme of this movie is timeless, regardless of what year it was made the overall message of this movie is applicable to every one of us. at least that what my thought is.
    I have watched many movies during my life, and i am attached to a specific one Final Fantasy King's Glaive.

    When i saw this in the theater I was 15 (target demographic) and I was very disappointed, I wasn't expecting Clerks 2 but it felt like Kevin Smith tried to remake Dazed and Confused for the 90s. He even hired half the cast from that movie. Jeremy London was horribly miscast, his acting is atrocious. Jason Lee saves the movie to make it watchable. I thought I had nostalgia for this movie and I just recently watched it on HBO Max, I was even more disappointed this time, the movie does not hold up at all and the only laughs were from Jay and Silent Bob. I appreciate it for what it tried to be, but it is not something I would ever watch again. Nice review.

    • @Nerdynomicon
      @Nerdynomicon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And you know what? There's nothing wrong with that. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, but even I don't like everything he's made. In all honesty I give you props for trying to watch it again! If there's 1 thing ive noticed being a TH-camr it's that people base their lives on first reactions and love to sh** all over everyone who don't agree with them. You hear that Clerks 3 is happening to us?
