I distinctly remember Kevin Smith posting an article titled "How we got F-ED by the mouse" featuring an animated gif of Mickey doing the nasty with Silent Bob. The only response Kevin got was from a disgruntled former employee who nevertheless had unwittingly revealed a lot about the whole messed up process and Disney's strategy. Essentially, Disney got the rights to the show (and its associated talents) not to actually do something with it, but rather to prevent it from going to another network on the off-chance it might become a "sleeper-hit" and help the rival network grow.. IIRC it was dubbed "the Eisner Hold" since it was a favorite tactic of then Disney CEO Michael Eisner. It's a tactic that still goes on to this day, albeit in more subtle ways.

It wasn't scheduling conflicts that prevented Alan Rickman from doing the voice -- they just didn't like his performance. They wanted him to do a voice like Hans Gruber, but he didn't want to. The voice he did just didn't fit the character, so they recast with Alec Baldwin.

I fell in love with Jay and Silent Bob (and the fictional characters 'Kevin Smith' and "Jason Mewes") after watching 'Mallrats', since in a way the movie was about me and my friends at the time ^_^ While I have yet to watch all the movies in the 'Universe', I have of course seen everything where Jay and Silent Bob were front and center, including this short lived, but lovable, series 😃
The ultimate punchline of the clipisode came 23 years later when “Clerks 3” was about Randal making “Clerks” and all the stories were from one day 30 years earlier
Considering William Daniels was working with ABC at the time on Boy Meets World (MR FEENY!), Him reprising KITT would have been a cakewalk. Had the network not screwed the series over, that would've been something I'd have loved to see, as I was a HUGE Knight Rider fan when I was a kid despite growing up in the 90's.

Unfortunately the show still wasn’t picked up for another season. maybe because Kevin Smith and the rest of the actors moved on at that point. I don’t know. Actually, this cartoon was my introduction to Kevin Smith and the Askewverse. It wasn’t till later I went over to a friends house and he was watching Clerks 2. That’s when I saw these characters in Live-Action for the first time. 😅 I was like, “hey wait a minute…what???”
I remember buy the DVD along with Clerks X ( The 10th anniversary DVD0 At my Bases Exchange, a week before I Got Underway for a 1 long patrol, We watch the hell out of both of them on the mess deck, I wish this show keep going, it was great and way ahead of this time.

Have you seen Clerks 3? It got a bit of a mixed reception, but I found it to be hilarious, nostalgic and honestly kinda sad and emotional.
