- I test out the Toyota Celica that has recently come to Forza Horizon 5, it turns out the car is pretty excellent as i get caught up in an epic battle of 2wd machinery.

sadly this'll most likely be the last vstc i'll be able to take part in for a long time, but my car performed incredibly well here! i had rally tires on the gt70 which i initially thought was gonna be a risky call, turns out it is a bloody strong tire compound for tarmac lol
Rally tires are practically equal to Race and Sport tires almost while providing good dirt performance. More you know.

@Jesus H. Christ I mean, I set up the equations in google sheets one day and now it's just a matter of plugging in everyone's finishing positions.
It doesn't take much time at all.
Truth be told fixing the formatting issues of copy and pasting from Sheets to TH-cam is the main time sapper.

So, my Escort was on rally tyres and was brilliant. However, I was suffering with a lot of desync against Alex especially noticeable on race 3 but, I had silly levels of fun for my first VSTC on FH5
Oh yeah aswell, for race 1. I had oversteer on the brakes which made me miss the checkpoint

Yea I feel like people sleep on the rally tires in this game. The PI for grip even on the road is SUPER good. My Celica has rally tires and the aero and tranny because it dropped the PI for much more power upgrades and I've been running top 200 times with that thing in B class. Def going to build a GT70 and Escort after this tho just to see how they compare because they looked great fun to drive.
@@trautsj the escort will be nowhere near as quick as that GT70 but, the car was still just absolutely superb to drive and I'll more than likely be using it again
@@XcentricRacer My FAVORITE car in B class is the 370Z. It's already almost at the top of B stock and the reason I love it? It just does what you want it to ALL THE TIME. It's great to drive. (it's also a great B class'r too if you wanted to try that one out, figured one car deserved another ;) lol) I just like finding cars that are good fun to drive. These vids make the weeding out process a bit easier and it's always nice to find some cars you might not of thought of for a specific class. I mostly just keep the cars in the same class as they come stock so seeing them upgraded and doing well makes me curious! lol
Was fun to join in my first ever VSTC, considering i built my cars in 3 minutes and they were terrible i can't complain at my results.

For anyone wondering my Celica was on Sport Tyres but with aero and possibly a little more power
That third race was so fun to battle for position, tha civic suited that track great, too bad my internet died before the first race, I think the civic would have done well there.
Haven't watched this yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it, considering I am the proud owner of a trusty not so old Celica. Might have been underrated back when it came out, but it still holds up well these days in terms of design and it's very beginner friendly. I always liked Celicas, but since I own one I've grown to love them
That third race was phenomenal!
Do a 750 A-class event with these restrictions:
- no AWD/4WD drivetrain;
- the cars need to have 320-350hp/ton, the type of vehicle doesnt matter;
- they all need to use Rally tires.

I had a 2001 Celica GT-S back when they first came out! Ended up putting a custom turbo on it and selling it for an STI.

Alex, what would you think about this - Forza makes a slipstream/catchup mode. Increase the effects of drafting, add speed/drag depending on what place youre in. Same way gta does it. This is already an arcade racer, not a sim racer. might as well?
No, because that'd ruin any interest there'd be for the races that already feel like an afterthought. GTA Online's slipstream and catchup already kills any racing that could happen, but that isn't even a game that's in any way focused on cars.

At least you avoid double screwing yourself over when you missed the checkpoint. I have to turn rewind off or instinct takes over and I rewind before I even realize it. I'm very surprised those tires worked out so well for you. Seems like I always end up way too underpowered when I try for the grip advantage and everyone will just slide and drift around turns with tires smoking nearly as fast as me and then leave me for dead on straights.

Rewind takes a little longer, but it also puts you back at speed, whereas letting the game reset you puts you back at 0.
@@mehalld possibly. Unless I'm bumped around a checkpoint most of my screwups are extreme enough that a rewind just puts me back in position to repeat the mistake again. Things that in a regular race I may rewind more than 1 section or multiple times to get right that's not practical online. Hitting a jump crooked and landing funny for example. Solo racing I'll automatically rewind that so it's habit and I'll do it online without even meaning to if I don't turn rewind off totally.

A lot of my missed checkpoints are tight margins, where if I'd braked a touch earlier or whatever then I'd be fine

yea that new celica rips in b class. i put mine on stock tires, no aero, 299 hp, and i forget what brakes. unfortunately i haven't raced it against the current b class champs in online open (pulsar, shelby, civic rs) but its demolished almost everything its come up against otherwise

My question is, Are semi slicks better than Race slicks or can some other tires be just as competitive?
I feel like Race Brakes are excessive below S1 class. Just need to get used to them. I see Alex quite often in Rivals. He's typically faster into corners due to late breaking, but I am usually faster on exit. Also, front wheel drive really REALLY requires straight line braking. It doesn't respond well at all to trail braking
3rd race that Ford definitely screwed you. Him taking to much speed and sliding out into slowed you down and allowed you to block the other two.
So, I just recently picked up Forza 5 since it was 'free' on gamepass. After playing through the story enough to reach the first ludicrously long race, I was rudely awakened to how you're not supposed to play with sim damage; the tires on my full handling car died so badly I couldn't compete after ~50% of the very long road race sprint. It would be very fun to see how that race would turn out with human players that do have to content with tire wear. How does one build a car that keeps the tires fresh? Is it worth it to drive slowly in the beginning to save the tires for the latter half of the race?
I am not a fan of how this works. I experienced very much this during cross country races on FH4 were your car would just be wrecked after a few jumps and there would be no point in trying even more as you would just be obliterated. The thing they could do is apply the same wear and tear to the AI in my opinion (not entirely sure why they didn't already)
Is it just me or does anyone else see that Alex does not make the tire smoke that most of the rest of the team create?
Fun fact. My first car was a Toyota celica. Worst car I ever owned. When it drived, it was fun but needed 1L of oil every 100km. Sad ik got rid of it, they went up in value last 3 years
Better tires also give better acceleration and braking, so it isn't a terrible idea.

9:58 I have been watch you for a long time now, i swear i have seen you miss checkpoint flags by wider margins and they still counted (FH4 for sure). The trigger for missed checkpoint seems somewhat random/arbitrary to me

It's weird hearing the British pronunciation of Celica. Here in the states it's a Sel-a-ka.
This is how it is pronounced: /ˈsɛlɪkə/ or /sɛˈliːkə/, so both ways are correct!

I do wish you'd include some P2P races, you're limiting yourself to 1/4th of the tarmac races in the game.
The problem with P2P races is AWD Power Builds tend to dominate on most of the tracks, there’s more balance and build variation on circuits.

If you didn't look back as often as you do, you might end up not breaking too late or slightly missing the timing on some of the turns...
Not even a minute into the game and already players are getting disconnections. This game is just broken. It has shit netcode, broken mechanics, zero polishment and has a quarter of the featureas of the previous game. Its a shame we players usually just always purchase the next game in an incomplete state and when the specific game is playable, the next installment comes out in the exact sorry state
You could just make the grid order in the Motorsport games. No clue why the fuck you can't now. Then again a lot of the things going on with Horizon 5 MP are big WTF's on the devs part. No clue how they moved so far backwards with what has become the most popular racing game in the world by orders of magnitude :/

There obviously are a ton of (often slightly off) ways to pronounce Celica, if you listen around.
Now I wonder how the 'eh' sounds if you speak it.
The 'official' spanish way to pronounce "Celica" would be [ˈθelika].

@@zachharp563 Well, it is about as wrong as the way Alex did it. You would need someone capable of properly speaking spanish to get that right, I guess.
Though, even there are differences, as I found out. While the european spanish sounds like THEL-eecah, the mexican spanish sounds more like CEL-eecah.
The way RTR pronounces it would rather match "célico" in mexican spanish, except for the muffled 'i' sound he makes.
