    In Europe most HD channels still uses the H.264 video codec, the 4K channels use the H.265 HEVC codec. Some pay TV satellite companies use the HEVC codec for their channels, that means both SD and HD channels use HEVC format. The advantage of this receiver is that you can play HEVC content from a USB or External HDD. I have a Cannon Legria FHD camcorder bought in January 2017 it can record in two formats: MPEG4 and HEVC. The HEVC takes more space than MP4 but the video quality is two times better. This receiver can play very well my recordings. I don't have this model but a friend of mine has and tested for multimedia playback.

      It’s a great all around receiver. Interestingly enough I noticed my phone records in either H.264 or HEVC video. So some of my videos are H.264 and some are HEVC. Keeping with the theme I guess!📡

    I`ve just retired my old Openbox S10 reciever , 30" dish and on your vids just got my 39" Ku dish ( oval ) 2 days ago from a ebay seller you recommend in the USA , I couldn`t afford the Amiko so I bought the Koqit V5 - H.265 version , soon as it stops raining here ( southern BC West side gonna put it up on my roof ( thief proofing ) and try it out , if works good will put my old HH motor on then . thanks for your advice .

    At 3:31 the AMIKO receivers like AMIKO A5 and A6 COMBO 4K, AMIKO VIPER V20, V30, V40 and AMIKO Mira X HiS have all satellites preinstalled, for America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. But the rest of the AMIKO receivers have only the satellites for Europe, Middle East, Africa.

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a good feature, the pre-installed satellites and transponders, especially for people new to the hobby. Sometimes installing a satellite or transponder can be intimidating for a beginner.

      @@NorthcoasterHobby Here in Europe the people who are new into satellite Hobby they tune in on Astra 19.2 East or HotBird 13 East, but there are some weak transponders, and will make things complicated. For example HotBird 13 East can be received with a 40 cm dish. A 60 cm dish will receive all transponders. 80 cm is recommended. On this satellite the transponder 11566/H/29900 is the weakest. It has news channels like Euronews, France 24 (both english and french), TRT World, Belarus 24 and some arabic channels. This transponder is problematic even on 60 cm dish. I have installed an 80 cm dish and it has a low signal 72 - 76 % signal quality while the rest have between 80-90% signal. Someone new into this hobby will have a bad luck receiving this transponder and will think that he can't receive HotBird 13 East satellite. For HotBird 13 East I recommend tuning on 10992/V/27500 it has the national italian channels RAI this tp has strong signal and can be received very good with 40 cm dish. On Astra 19.2 East things are much simple.

    A very good review. Just one thing, Tigo is not Mexican, is Colombian with operations in Central America but not in Mexico. Satellite footprint must be pretty large to reach out all the way to the US.

    • @NorthcoasterHobby

    Is the video still available adding channels after scan. Looking to add channels that are not listed mostly audio channels. There was a great video on this that appears to be gone now

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you want to add channels in after the fact, you can add in the transponder and scan those channels in:
      th-cam.com/video/Er5XEZpEqCQ/w-d-xo.html
      Then run a scan on that transponder.

    Kind of makes one wonder why they'd need to add an option to turn off LNB power. I mean, if it absolutely must be on in order to receive signals.

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, but it gives flexibility. Let’s say two receivers are connected to an LNB by a splitter. You can turn off LNB power to one receiver and the other receiver becomes the control receiver, switching polarity.

    I am using an antenna Dish HD as you see in my profile picture. Do you think that is the reason why my reciever do not show the name of the channels?

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  ปีที่แล้ว

      FTA satellite channels don’t usually send EPG or channel names and information with the broadcast signal. The dish has nothing to do with that.

    Hi i need some help ! I bougth this nice Amiko 265 receiver and in using a shaw 60E xku dish i tried to get signal from Anik F2 111.1 w satellite and spended 6hrs trying to get signal and Nada a bit of signal !! I live in eastern Québec in the back country ! I re checked my data and settings many times ! Every settings are perfect input 9750 /10750 VH on auto mode 0/12v on and LNB on / 24.6 elevation skew 122 and 229 azimut for my region ! What could be the cause of no signal ??

      The channels on 111 West KU are all encrypted Shaw Satellite service pay channels. Try 87, 97, 103, 117 or 125 west KU Band for free unencrypted channels.
      Also, here’s a video on aiming a KU Band Satellite dish.

      Don’t get discouraged, sometimes it takes a while to get a feel for adjusting a dish. Even a millimeter makes a difference when aiming a dish accurately.
