  • How to Run a Blindscan for Channels on the Amiko Mini Satellite TV Receiver
    A tutorial on running a blindscan on the Amiko MIni HD265 and Amiko Mini 4K S2X Satellite TV receivers. Running a blindscan for satellite TV is similar to running a channel scan for over-the-air television with a TV antenna. Essentially it’s the process of loading the channels that are available on a given satellite into your receiver, so that they can be watched. Note that on satellite television, channels often ‘scan in’ as non-descript names (ie: Ch. 1, Ch. 2, etc.). Look at the videos below for more tutorials on the Amiko Satellite receivers.

    It's quite amazing how many different brands of receivers used the same Ali chipset in them. I did a bit of firmware bug fixes for one of the manufacturers about 6 or 7 years ago. The satellite installation/scan screens look almost identical to the Amiko. Thanks for the informative video sir!

    Great video. Since you mentioned about OTA TV, in Europe there are AMIKO receivers that have two tuners one for satellite (LNB IN) and the second for Cable or Antenna (RF IN), they are also called combo receivers. To bad AMIKO doesn't make combo receivers for North America, it would be simple. One receiver for both satellite and antenna. They only have to replace the DVB-T2/C tuner with an ATSC T/C tuner

    • @Nicholas_Chris
      @Nicholas_Chris 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      These combo receivers are ideal for those who have older generation of LCD and LED TV's with DVB-T tuner and you live in a country were the terrestrial transmission uses DVB-T2 (most Easter European countries) or has switched from DVB-T to DVB-T2 and you also want satellite TV., or in my case we have cable but are interested in OTA and FTA satellite reception.

      Yes, having a combo unit like that for North America would be cool.👍

    Seems you've reviewed a few of these HD FTA receivers... do you have a favourite/recommendation.. for easy-of-use and cheapest/price?

      My favourite is the Amiko Mini HD265.
      The GTMedia receivers are good performers for less money. But generally I’ve had good experiences with most receivers I’ve tested.

    So can multiple satellites be in one position (like 103W for example)? It’d be great if we had a service similar to the UK’s Freesat, where they can pick up all of their antenna channels and even more channels exclusive to it.

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There might be multiple satellites at one orbital slot (ie: 125 West has AMC 21 for KU Band and Galaxy 30 for C Band). Or, one satellite can carry both KU and C Band channels. A Freesat-type service in North America would be great.📡

      Hi there, sorry for the delay getting back to you. I have never had to reflash my receiver. There is a danger in bricking it if it is not done correctly. Many times a simple reset by unplugging the receiver and plugging it back in works. Personally, I have never had an issue where the receiver freezes up and a restart doesn’t do the trick. Thanks for watching my channel.

    I've never been able to get even close to 98% quality on anything, 85 is about tops for me.

    • @sx64man
      @sx64man ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't really trust those numbers. I have 3 other sat receivers and they all are fairly consistent on signal level, which incidently is close to the signal that the amiko displays for the first split second when you tune a channel. it then jumps into 98% mode. I call software shenanigans on the signal level especially. :-)

    Great video! Are there any non-encrypted cable channels like TBS, Cartoon Network, HGTV, etc available on C-Band anywhere? Are there any that stay on the satellite for a while? There’s really nothing for me on Ku Band. God bless you and have a great day!

    It's interesting that all satellite TV and radio signals went digital, and I don't know if there is one NTSC or other format signal out there via satellite. Now I just learned that you need more than 1 dish to capture more signals from different satellites instead of just 1 satellite dish. Time for them to deploy satellites that will handle lots of channels like Direct TV and Dish does.

    • @NorthcoasterHobby
      @NorthcoasterHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They have the ability to compress signals already with HEVC H.265 coding. It would be easier to have many channels on 1-2 satellites instead of scattered, but that’s also part of the fun, finding different satellites with new channels. Another option is a motorized dish.

    has anyone had the experience that the blind scan on the 4k uhd model sometimes hangs halfway thru scans on satellites that have no defined transponders (yet). it also appears to turn off the lnb all together at times on the blind scan if it found no tranponders on a previous scan and must be rebooted or moved to back to an active channel to start working blind acans correctly again. im using the latest firmware from the Amiko website (jan 2023). seems that it may be buggy. Amiko needs to work on this fimware and nake it more reliable. this may not be an issue with the non 4k model, but i have no way to check.

    • @sx64man
      @sx64man ปีที่แล้ว

      update: firmware 1056 released at end of June 2023 seems to improve the blind scan reliability.
