Hi, Chester had the most evil horrid father and grandfather. His father was John Podesta and Chester was ready to expose him. Can you watch a Band named God Save The Queen in concert . Is the main singer Freddie? I find he moves, sings and plays piano like Freddie.

I think the reason Chester's voice was so effective is because he was focusing purely on getting into character. His vocal was very emotive, because he was actually visualizing the story behind the emotion in his head. When it needed to sound angry, you'd see him literally become angry while recording a take. He was almost ready to swear and stick up his middle finger. I think he was a really sensitive person with an amazing ability to emote through vocals. Mike knew this, and you see him tapping into this when he says "it needs to sound like panic". He's literally giving Chester an emotion script, because he knows Chester will emulate actual panic. As a vocalist I find this very interesting.
you are totally right. mike is a classically trained pianist who also happens to be a great producer. in fact, every friday he spends a couple hours producing a song for a fan, free of charge. you could tell that performing was therapy for Chester. he was a spider monkey on par with eddie Vedder. he was always jumping off of 10 foot tall amps and doing 17 second screams. rip Chester
A 100%! Thats the difference between good vocalists and AMAZING!!! Vocalists. Being a great lead singer is so much more than just being able to sing well. You gotta make the listener feel what you’re singing.
13:15 is a rare moment where you see chester sing the messenger for the studio recording. Because he never sung it live in that original key, or at least I don't think so cause I've searched and can't find anything. (which fair enough it is pretty high especially to do in a live show). I always wanted to see him perform that song in it's original key.

The home studio is Mike's home studio. Mike made a sound booth to be able to record there if they needed to. That is where Mike recorded parts of the Post Traumatic album. Chester sang there a lot when they were writing songs. If you watch the music videos for the first 3 songs on Post Traumatic Mike recorded the videos in his home studio. During quarantine Mike started doing streaming from his home studio showing people how to make songs and some of his drawing techniques. He eventually started producing songs for fans who needed help with the production of a song. He released a song called Open Door and did it with 7 of his fans because he couldn't choose just one fan to do the song with.
Fuck i Still miss Chester so fucking much..his voice range was Out of this world, i think He is the best Singer in the 21. century..singing like an angel, Scream Like a devil. R.I.P

It would be great if you could do this with more bands beside isolated vocal analysis videos. Maybe you could do one with Spencer Sotelo and other friends?
Have you tried having the reaction/analysis videos just play on your screen and have that visible and audible in the background, with a slight adjustment in your shot angle to better see the screen? It might be too much of quality loss, but I think that's how you could prevent the bots blocking it. Still requesting Meshuggah vocal analysis by the way ;)

I've loved their "in making" videos. I couldn't watch these for 2 years after Chester's death. I only watched it when Linkin Park TV uploaded "A Thousand Suns Meeting". That was the most stressful process they've exposed to us.
Amazing video as always Chris! You should do some deep dives into 'bad' examples of singing for future vids, might be interesting! I find it really helpful to know what bad technique sounds like as well as the good.
I’ve watched these BTS Linkin Park videos throughout the decades, but hearing your perspective on these are cool! I know what I know about these videos, but to hear it from someone else who wasn’t there and have such a clear understanding about the process is so refreshing! I've been taking lessons for over a year, trying to build confidence, and it's been a long journey. So much frustration, so many times I wanted to quit. Now, things are finally coming together - ear, muscle memory, timing, confidence - and seeing this video at this moment is such a nice, human reminder. This is art after all. This is a prime example of modern rock not translating as it used to because of the lack of blues. For some reason, I know this comes from a dark place and source of pain, he just doesn't make me feel it. I could never put my finger on it, but Rick Beato brought up this point in a live stream and it finally occurred to me. Just my opinion.
One thing I love even more than Linkin Park songs is when I got the chance to get the isolated and dry vocals of a song, 100% acapella. Songs like Guilty All The Same, Pushing Me Away or Iridescent, with so high a level of emotion into the vocals are the ones I love the most. There is when you truly know the talent of a singer and also when you get to grasp what they do in order to reach a certain note or how their vibrato sound like, you can literally feel what they are doing while singing and these kind of recordings are what I use the most for developing my own vocal technique.
Certain groups or individual performers come around only once in a lifetime. That is true of Linkin Park. A one of a kind and oh so unique entity that is in a class all their own. Mike is a creative genius, Chester with his devil/angel voice and stage presence, Mr Hahn with his mastery on the turn table, Rob one of the best drummers around and of course Brad and Phoenix rounding out the group. The perfect storm Linkin Park was born.

Chester has a soft spoken voice but his singing voice is strong and full and emotions.

He was an actor too, although he didn't do much in the cinema industry but he knew how to fake and act, that also helped him a lot in that regard
