Because everyone has used Maygi's google docs guide for years to do the solo run. There are also tons of full vods where people are explaining what they are doing on all the jobs to clear it
Tried POTD today for the first time, wondered why I got oneshot at floor 15 after 3 slimes spawned on me - turns out they just exploded at the same time. Thanks for the informative video.
Something to keep in mind for people who are just trying to rush to 50 either so they can use the 51-60 to grind levels, or are just trying to unlock the other deep dungeons... It's pretty much impossible for you to solo 1-50 on your first attempt, no matter how good you are. The fact of the matter is, your aetherpool weapon/armor level is going to fall behind quickly. For me, I only got 10 levels by time I was on floor 21, and just going from 21, to 23, took me 20 minutes. Enemies have A LOT more health starting after floor 20. You only have 60 minutes to do 10 floors. That's 6 minutes max per floor that you can spend... and that's really not a lot of time when you think about it. You are going to have to grind aetherpool levels by repeating the floors over and over again until you are high enough to get past the damage check. I would recommend, honestly, just doing 1-50 in random groups, to unlock the level 51 start, and then just grind 51-60 to get your aetherpool levels up. If you are so dead set on soloing it, solo it later, when you have the aetherpool levels to do it.
Hey Namazu, Great video. I really enjoy the way you explain the floor mobs and bosses. Its like an easy to understand guide for newer PotD runners and id love to see floors 51-100 and so on up till 200 then maybe HoH and the new one when they get well explored. Hope to see a new vid soon
Thanks, I may possible do more in the future if I ever go for necro or lone. I mostly wanted to make this for the people who want to try the new one when in comes out, but haven't actually started palace
I've been grinding solo PoTD for over 6 months (floor 190 is my record) and I just wanted to leave a few tips for floors 1-50. 1. As mentioned in the video, it's good to spend time here to level up a bit. Floor 10 boss is level 20. Floor 20 boss is level 35. Floor 30 boss is level 49. Floor 40 boss is level 59 and finally floor 50 is level 60. So just make sure you are at or above those levels to make things much easier. 2. Something I do every run is use any alterations I get immediately on these floors. Mimics and Mandy's both give the most exp out of all mobs so it's really good to kill them as much as you can. 3. Aetherpool grinding will help tremendously, although getting max this early will result in your Aetherpool being "synced" so it is not necessary to have max yet. 4. The floor 10 boss is an easy cheese if you have a lust pomander. Just pop it immediately and destroy the boss within seconds 5. Get practice now on these early bosses, because floors 101-140 have essentially the same bosses with the same mechanics, they just hit alot harder.
Great guide, but 1 thing. New people dont have +99 gear, and soloing is WAY harder without it. I have +29/+26 and my machinist just BARELY beat the stage 30 boss. I came out of the boss fight with 150 hp and 4 minutes left and lvl 50. I didnt mess up on any of his mechanics. I dont feel like I will survive going any higher for quite a while XD.
If you’re having trouble with just surviving I’d suggest moving over to Warrior, you do less damage overall but you get a lot more sustainability, basically to the point where every boss from 1-50 is just a matter of doing the mechanics right, even with low aetherpool. Killing regular mobs is still easy enough especially once you get Fell Cleave. You also don’t need to do any job quests to use abilities that would’ve been unlocked by them so it’s just a matter of unlocking the job.
Exactly. I went into it and died at the boss at Floor 30. I was absolutely flabbergasted as "everyone is breezing through this so easy". I was so ashamed of asking I realized I could level up my stuff by going in, open silver chests until I capped it so much out the chests only failed. So I was like: "Heh, now I have more aetherpool stuff" - and died again. They take away 600 HP, I am Level 51 Red Mage and have like 3.6k HP. That is 6 hits. Absolutely impossible! What nobody told me were those fcking potions!! I mean those you can get for those rare shards from the NPC, the "Sustaining Potions". They regen 1.1k HP every like 5 seconds. I "wasted" (well, I farmed some Aetherpool, but incredibly inefficient) so much time by trying over and over until I realized my attempts made me able to get 40 of these. The boss died with ease, I think I never went below 60% health...
Thanks. I went in blind and wiped twice to hydra - first time to fear and second time to lack of sustain. Hopefully if I avoid damage better and have higher aetherpool, I can clear it.
Good guide. This is one of my bigest gripes weith 14 is that they constantly force you to do old dead content to unlock the new. This makes life a lot easier than a 3 hour queue for POTD lower floors. My thanks!!!!
It's funny because it's one of the things I love about FF. I only started playing maybe 2 years ago, so I didn't get to do a lot of old content, but now since this has come out as a requirement, a LOT of people are going back and doing it, which means easier ques and my FC more willing to help /o/
Technically the only thing you’re forced to do with others is Alliance Raids. Everything else is soloable if you are at max level and it isn’t the freshest content, although you might need to be a tank for most soloing content.
Not sure if anyone is still watching today but I have a question for whoever can answer. So if I clear floor 50 then do it again from the beginning with let's say Reaper job will I be able to proceed through the floors until I hit 10/10 aetherpool and would still be able to make the aether grips without needing to hit floor 50? Or would I have to do the same process for every job?
You can make Aetherpool Grips and exchange them for any weapon regardless of what Job you actually played in PoTD. Your Aetherpool levels persist throughout every playthrough and apply to all your jobs.
Thank you so much for the guide, though i disagree that MCH is the best choice. The selfheal abilities of warrior level 26 onward make most the bosses up to 50 trivial.
@@MangyPL Will not deny it might be skill issue in my case but no chance i would have got 1-50 on mch with my 20 aetherpool XD Warrior somehow worked^^

Its not a bad idea. If you happen to get a potsherd its also a good idea to go to the trade near the entrance and buy some sustaining potions(strong potd regen potion). Also another strat that you can employ is using a sight to look for luring traps and aoe or witching to burn them down for bonus experience maybe getting a couple of extra levels.
I just cleared 1 to 50 solo with Scholar and only had +30 aetherpool by the end of it. Any tips on getting aetherpool to +99, should I spam 1-10 or 50-60?
50-60 is the best option especially if you have things you want to level that are under 50. Now you will eventually reach a point I think around 70+ where you'll have to start going to the later floor but you don't need high aetherpool until the late 100s so it's not that bad.

So here is the deal: As a recent PotD attempter - solo of course because nobody does it, or at least not floor 1-50 - I can only stress one thing: SUSTAINING POTIONS. That is ALL you really need!
