I Am new to your channel. I got a budgie, without you he would be on an all seed diet in a tiny cage. Please don't stop making video's people need to know how to properly take care of these wonderful birds. My mom had so many birds as a kid I loved them so much but they all died so quickly. they were on an all seed diet, tiny cage and water was changed like once a month or whenever it evaporated.. I didn't know any better I was just a kid but my mom also did not know. I have my budgie I bought him from petco I was told by someone working in the store to have them on an all seed diet. also to "buy a cage with the budgie picture on it". They were such small cages. I did what he said. I was trying to learn more about birds when I came across your channel. I bought a new cage about as big as you have. new perches for his feet. I started sprouting seeds. got him to eat veggies and pellets.I took him to the vet he has fatty liver disease. I wake up everyday wondering if hes still alive. I fell in love with him so quick. he also took a liking to me. point is without your videos he would be dead so I am so thankful to you.
Wow. Sometimes you don’t realize how much of an impact one person can have on so many others. Yes, please don’t stop making videos Courtney, there are so many people and birds that have benefited from your channel and blog, including me. Without you, my future birb would have all dowel and one rope perch, a seeded diet, no UV, and the same cage setup for their whole life, which would certainly be a short one. I would like to Thank you for all of the helpful information you’ve provided us with with. Thank You!
Video Recommendation: You should have a day in the life of the birbs (cage cleaning, feeding, etc.) or a how I care for my birds. I think that would be helpful and entertaining 😊
Crafting By Chaz just from experience, a great seed brand is Hagen. I've fed it to my budgies for a year now (along with fruits and veggies, I haven't tried pellets yet) and am starting my parrotlet on it soon.
I love your channel so much! Honestly you helped me decide that a Parrotlet was NOT the bird for me and I enjoy watching the bond you have with yours. I've narrowed it down to either a Budgie or a Canary. Would love to see more Flippy! Keep doing what you are doing and educating people!

hope to still see some videos. : ) I just got my first parrotlet and watching your videos was one of the reasons I decided to get one. (Also just the fact that I love birds lol and work from home so I have LOTS of time to be with my little one.) so love your videos hope there isn't to long of a gap (months lol) for another video. xP
Lyndsay Kang I agree 😊 and same. I got to the idea of keeping Parrotlets because I watched one of her videos and I am currently convincing my parents to let me get a pair, too 🙈
AnimalEden I actually would suggest only getting one at first. as they really are birds that like to be by themself. it is easier to train and bond to a bird one at a time also. If you DO get two you must get TWO cages and not keep them together in one. especially if you want them to bond to you. also if you get two for the first month atleast it's even better so they can't see each other (hearing is fine) this also helps for the bonding process to you as if they bond to each other they may only want each other and cam become very aggressive towards you. that or they could kill each other or one of the other. etc.
Lyndsay Kang Okay thanks for the tips :) I am going to talk about it with the breeder anyways, since he already has 20 years experience with keeping and breeding these little guys 😻
AnimalEden I am not saying you can't get two you can, just that you should know what getting two takes and what you should do. (of course the breeder wants you two get two that's more money for them lol) also I guess I don't know if you want two for breeding or two for companionship? If your wanting companionship I would definitely keep in mind what I am telling you. and if the breeder is a GOOD breeder they should tell you the same. If they are not I would be wary of them as they are only wanting money. so I hope that's not the case and they give you good information.
Lyndsay Kang I am not quite sure if I want to breed later. Right now I would just get a second one for companionship since I still go to school/university so I am not home all day. I just don't want my bird to be alone any time of the day :) I really appreciate your tips and I will definitely make sure to keep them in mind 🙈
I watched this vid when it came out, but where are you? Did you quit? I really hope you didn’t! You’re a great youtuber, and thanks to you I know what to get my bird.
I loved the bird kabobs back when I had my cockatiels! They just started shredding it and had a blast tearing the thing apart! Also absolutely loved the look of manzanita perches, but I always thought they were a little on the pricey side (and I'm not 100% sure how to find and prepare found branches for birds or if you can in the first place) but if it lasts a long time and provides all those benefits then I'd say it's worth it!
Hello! I watched your video on products to avoid and it never crossed my mind about the happy huts! I'm getting a budgie soon, and I have a small, clip on desk fan in my room because the A.C doesn't work well at all in my room. I was extremely worried for my future bird and I thought about a happy hut as a way to keep it warm. Now I am obviously aware of the danger, but I was wondering if you knew of any way my bird could warm himself if he were to get cold. I don't want any small drafts to kill my bird, but I also don't want to die of hyperthermia anytime soon. Thank you!
The only thing I do not like about my bird cage is because there are built in perches and ladders on top of the cage there is a tray to collect droppings but it makes it so I can't hang anything from the ceiling INSIDE the cage because there are no bars. Really annoying.
Hi, i watch your video's for some time now although we have 2 parkeets and not parrotlets i like the general information/education on how to treat birds and the way you train them. Well we dont have our parkeets for long and well you cant train a parkeet like your birds. Yet our female bird has teached herself a funny trick. We are just starting to let them out of the cage. And after putting our male into the cage the female landed on the cage and was looking how to get into the cage again. So she walks arround on top of the cage and suddenly she started to make head rolls. I really couldnt believe my eyes. Is so funny to see her doing it. She stays a bit on her back rolls on here feet again and well does this for some time. I havent got a good video of it yet. But when i have will give you a notify. Keep your video's comming they are highly appreciated!!
I'm about to get a parrotlet and I really hope you make another video soon. I'd love to see another video about brands you recommend. Miss you so much 😘
Where did you get your bird cages? I'm planning on getting one soon for a budgie and green cheeked conure, and I wanted to know what you would recommend. Thanks!
Very informative videos and right to the point...thank you! Enjoy watching/listening. I'm learning a lot. I will be a first Parrotlet owner soon, so excited! I have a question; can you put live plants for them to fly to and/or nibble on? Thanks!
I'm here doin a bit of research. I gave 3 budgies and I am getting a green cheek conure really soon! I'm very exited and I wanted to see what toys I can buy for him. Thanks for the help! I'm not very educated in good or bad bird toys, as my budgies never play with toys so I dont really know what they do or dont like. Now I have something to go off of so thanks!
Could you do a video on different stores/brands/websites that are good to get toys/food/perches from? Everything in my area and that I find online just seems to be all the basic stuff that is usually unhealthy for birds. I love your channel and it’s very helpful, thanks!
Are there any resources about Parrots, like books, vlogs, websites, etc that you could recommend? So much has changed the past few decades I need to keep up! Thank you for the great content
Hello! Can you do an information video on Indian Ring-Neck Parrots please? I own one and I got it back in June for my 11th birthday and I would appreciate some tips and tricks on what toys they can have, what foods, and anything in common that a new Parrot owner should know. thank you for your time!
I recently discovered you and LOVE your channel!!!! I am going to be getting two budgies very soon:) :) i go back and forth from my mom and my dads house, and my mom is getting the budgies for me, though she wont be able to take care of them while i am away, will they be ok with enough water and food, or should i try to find a way to take them with me plz reply (EDIT) i am at each house for a week before switching again.
If i left them, there would be someone there once a day to make sure that they fare not injured or anything, but they couldn't feed or water them, although they could contact me
My life as Amy generally it is. No mirror toys, NO all seed diets, lots of fruits and veggies, different surfaces for your conure to perch on. I recommend watching Tyler ruggee's video. He has a sun conure. I'm sure he has a video explaining proper care for them. I think that conures are a type of parrot (correct me if I'm wrong) and he has a video on myths about owning a pet parrot. Even if conures aren't parrots I think it applies to all birds because he says things about noise levels, diets, things like that. If you're getting a conure I highly recommend you check out Tyler Ruggee's video
I want to get a budgie, but I have a cat. I heard to get them a little hide away place in their cage so they can't see the cat. Does this work? And if so, what do you recommend? Because I've heard that anything that looks like a nest is dangerous. Any tips?
Tommarow I'm getting a pacif parolet 2 blue like zeebe and Mia after doing 9 months of reasearch 6 plus hours a day and cause of u and helping me descover parrotlets 9 months ago I'm now going to get 2 I'm gonna name my male maverick and the female mia cause of your videos thx for making the videos
Hey! I just adopted a 2-month old parrotlet recently and it's been super hard getting her off an all-seed diet. (she's obsessed with sunflower seeds!) We've tried making "birdy bread" and sprinkling millet over new food but she's pretty stubborn. Any advice on getting picky birds to try new fruits/veggies, or any foods that you would recommend to newly weaned birds? Love the videos!
Corlé try putting a little of her current favourite food under a bigger pile of the new, healthier food you want her to switch to. That way she has to dig through the healthy stuff to get to her favourite, and in the process will inadvertently taste the healthy option and might get to like it more over several exposures :D
I love your channel soooo much it's helped me ALOT I'm getting a bird soon and I enjoy your content and the flock lol! But thank you so much for all the help!!
I have the most wonderful African Grey parrot and I love love your youtube channel. I bought a bigger but very similar toy as the triangle wooden toy for Chiku and she loves it.
I plan on getting a budgie, but we can't afford two and I'm afraid my little buddy will be lonely for about 8 hours every weekday. Should I get an aggressive female instead of two? We're really tight on money, but my mom is allowing me to get one.
Hi how are YOU? I have budgies. I am trying to learn from your training videos. Every time I let them out of the cage they fly all over the place and hard to Catch! What should I do?
This is a great list. I didn't know about oat spray either. I just ordered some for my birds. I have a very inquisitive parrotlet who I know would just love that Kaytee foraging toy with the drawers, so as soon as I saw this, I went looking for it, but I can't find it in any online stores or pet stores. It looks like it might be discontinued. If you got it in a chain pet store, which one was it?
Hi there! I’ve just recently found your account after we decided to purchase a bird. I have studied them immensely, but I obviously still have a lot of unanswered questions. But I’ve been meaning to ask you just a few. 1) are fake plants safe for a baby sun conure? They do not have any foam beads or berry like objects, but they do have leaves and flowers and I was concerned about Myrtle trying to eat them. Do you think I should remove or keep them up? 2) what brand cage and food do you recommend the most? 3) do you have to change the position of the toys in your room? I know that you are supposed to change the toys in their cage daily or weekly, but I’m not sure about the ones I’d have around my room. 4) I have some mirrors underneath these box shaped lights I have. I’ve heard mirrors effect birds’ health a lot for some reason. Is this true? Should I cover up the mirrors?
and yes get rid of them some birds will attack them or think their another bird and bond with them and not u! and they might try to throw up food to feed their “baby”!
You should do a video on your daily feedings. Such as when and what you give your parrotlets everyday and how much servings per bird and that type of stuff.
I got 3 parakeets 2 days ago, I'm wondering on how to get them out of the cage? Do I just stick my hand it and wait for them to get used to them and then try to get them to eat out of my hand?
Make sure you let them settle in first then just start putting your hand in so they get used to it and when they start coming to your hand they may nip you bit this is only because they are seeing if you are safe so don't pull your hand away and keep doing this everyday until they start stepping up. Remember to reward them when they do. Hope this helped x
Hello!! I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and it has helped me take care of my parrotlet. However, I tried to give her varied food and she refuses to eat it and just likes to eat tortillas. What should I do?
I recently adopted 2 budgies. The people I got them from couldn't answer any questions about them. I've had them about a month and no amount of training has helped them acclimate to the family. I'm thinking maybe they are older and probably kept in the cage full time. When we walk to the cage they immediately start flying all over and banging their wings on the bars. To take them out of the cage I take it off the base and turn it super slow until it's on it's side so they don't notice right away. Is there a way to guess how old they are, and also, can an older budgie who is very attached to their cage and are bonded to each other. The only time I can get them to train at all is when I separate them in two different rooms. Advice?
PS Could you do a video on the more unusual bird behaviours, and interpret their intended message? I have a young male cockateil who sometimes opens his beak into a square-jaw formation. Not sure what he's doing, or why. Am I doing something wrong?
Out of curiosity how much do you feed your birds with treats included? I'm curious to know what you feed at meals time, how often and how much you feed your birds.
The bell on the first game is dangerous, once my parrot bit the pendulum inside the bell and it was stuck between the beak and the tongue, he was clinging on the fence of the cage, i don’t know for how many hours because i was not at home, then i had to break the bell and cut the pendulum to set him free
my vet just told us that we were to remove all toys that contained rope from my birds cage. what is your opinion on this? she said rope is not safe for my bird
In december 2016 i bought a Red-Rumped Parrot. He was in pretty bad conditions, most of the feathers fell of. I also bought a huge (in my opinion) cage (about 100x90x80cm). Unfortunately, even if the bird is now looking good, he's very afraid of me. When i bought him, he was almost 2 years old. Any ideas what to do?
Hii love your videos! Do you like having those two cages in one, for your parrotlets? I have a cockatiel and a Quaker parrot, I was thinking of upgrading to a cage similar to yours, would you recommend it, for those two types of birds?😁
I have some concerns i wanted to ask you. I see that you take very good care of your little bird friends and i watched all your videos, did all my research and i have a big enough environment for my little budgie Finn. Im not sure how old he is but right now i believe he is sick. About two days after i got him his little eyes were either squinting or opening and closing during times he is not eating. Today is the fifth day ive had finn and earlier the third day i gave him some chopped up tomatoes. And yesterday i gave him some peaches. Yesterday he started vomitting and flinging it everywhere. They were all seeds and they didnt look like they had been digested and were covered in sticky stuff. I also noticed that he is sitting low on his perch and his vent has left over waste on the feathers near the vent. I'm really worried about Finn and it would be wonderful if you could help me figure out what i could do to help ):
I have a question. My pet lovebird caught its foot in the gap between the nest cage and actual cage and its foot it bleeding. I put flour on it, but is that enough?
did u ever get ur birds wings clipped? Because I heard that when they don't have their wings clipped then they r harder to tame and they won't want to be with u anymore but after a while, u don't have to clip their wings. Sorry if this is confusing.
Hi! I've thought very well about getting a bird and I'm now doubting between getting a Forpus or an Agapornis. I've never had a bird before. What could be the best choice for a beginner trainer?
Hey there, I saw a video where you recommended a feeding tray that is no mess. We have 2 cockatiels and a lot of the food is wasted/least. Do you recommend one?
just so I can simply look back can you make a list of the names of the things you just went through the video? Lol I want to purchase some of these! especially those perches!
I have a budgie who is on an all seed diet. I bought her from pet smart. I try to feed her fresh fruit and veggies, but she refuses to eat it. I also try to get her to eat pellets, but she won't. Currently, I replaced her seeds with fresh fruit and veggies, but she hasn't even touched it. It's been 2 days. Can anyone help?
lalalemon Hello! Converting a budgie from seeds to pellets can be a real struggle and I can totally relate to your situation. What I did for my budgies, was I put a little bit more pellets in their seed food each day. I'd start with just a couple and then I'd get more and more until it was entirely pellets! I did this over a course of two weeks so it may take a while, but its definitely worth it! When it comes to veggies I would recommend you try lots of different types. My birds hated almost everything but one day I tried carrots and (though they didn't at first, they eventually tried it) they loved it. Keep trying with different types, but only leave the veggies in for no longer than an hour, because veggies go bad quickly. Good Luck!
I have a question, im a student and i would love to have a bird but i have school for about 8 to 10 hours a day, is it possible to keep a (tame) bird and what bird species would be best to keep in my situation?
i wanted to ask about feeding. do you only feed them via foraging toys or do they have a regular supply of food then access. ie is foraging for fun or necessary life
I have a question so I have a pet parakeet and yesterday I took it out and it's left wing started bleeding and it dropped like 6-9 drops of blood but before that it was twitching that wing what should I do?!??
How old are ur birds and how old were they when u buy them ? Did u clipped there wings initially ? Or ur views on should we clip or not and all .... Thanking You (Waiting for a reply)
Can you please leave a link on where to get the manazita perches please? I've been looking for awesome perches like that for awhile but can't find them
I've been searching like crazy, and I do find some information on parrolets and UV lights, but not enough for me to educate myself in what I should buy for my own. I have red your answers but I'm not that good so I really don't understand so well. Could you make a video about it? What kind of UV light do you use? And how many hours a day?
I want to make a cage for my budgie. I'll be using 1cm x 1cm wood strips for the frame, and a large wooden plate for the drawer. The thing is; Should i use 2mm wooden dowels for the bars, or should i use brass rods instead? I kinda wanna use wooden dowels, then i could polish it(so the budgie can't damage it). Would the polish injure my bird?If not, then i'll use dowels, it's hard tofind brass rods
MMOderator I'm kind of afraid that with a wooden cage it will be hard to clean and the budgie will chew through it eventually... if you really want to go through with it use stainless steel bars, not brass- copper and zinc are very bad for birds to ingest if they start chewing on the bars
Flock talk, My cockatiel will not eat vegetables and fruit,we have experimented with a lot of different types and using sprouts. What could I do? Thank you and keep making awesome videos!
Hello, as you can see, I have a rosa bourke parakeet. I have a 12 by 17 by 21.5 inch cage for her. How big would you recommend a cage for parrolets? I am planning on getting one this fall. Your information will help a ton! Thanks!
the peek n pull foraging toy doesn't seem to exist, are there any good alternatives? Tried finding the bael pods on Amazon, no luck there. The website you got them from charges an arm and a leg for shipping, beh.

• Michela • good idea
• Michela • She already has a video like that
You should do a video based on different types of bird food and what/what not to buy.
Crafting By Chaz just from experience, a great seed brand is Hagen. I've fed it to my budgies for a year now (along with fruits and veggies, I haven't tried pellets yet) and am starting my parrotlet on it soon.
Roudybush and Harrison's are great pellets, for seed mixes I use Volkman's (I have a budgie, so seed is a necessity for them)
I use the non-dyed roudybush pellets for my budgie too
Crafting By Chaz my cockatiel loves sun flower seeds and my lovebird loves lovebird pellets
yes please

I'm not very educated in good or bad bird toys, as my budgies never play with toys so I dont really know what they do or dont like. Now I have something to go off of so thanks!
Could you do a video on different stores/brands/websites that are good to get toys/food/perches from? Everything in my area and that I find online just seems to be all the basic stuff that is usually unhealthy for birds. I love your channel and it’s very helpful, thanks!
Please keep posting! i really enjoy your vids so keep it going
I hope you keep making videos because before I got a bird I watched your videos for information
If i left them, there would be someone there once a day to make sure that they fare not injured or anything, but they couldn't feed or water them, although they could contact me
Would you ever consider a larger bird in The future and is care similar for conures in your care videos?
Life With Birbs Tyler rugge is amazing
Hermione Granger ikr

I want to get a budgie, but I have a cat. I heard to get them a little hide away place in their cage so they can't see the cat. Does this work? And if so, what do you recommend? Because I've heard that anything that looks like a nest is dangerous. Any tips?
Tommarow I'm getting a pacif parolet 2 blue like zeebe and Mia after doing 9 months of reasearch 6 plus hours a day and cause of u and helping me descover parrotlets 9 months ago I'm now going to get 2 I'm gonna name my male maverick and the female mia cause of your videos thx for making the videos
While I intend to get a Conure, your videos are super helpful and fun to watch!
6:23 so casually pulling a bird out of her hair....😂😂
Put a quarter of her new food in her old food for around a week or so, then half and half, then quarter old, then all pellets!
IamMissPronounced Sprouts are a great way to introduce fresh foods. Also hiding seeds in broccoli worked for my bird.
Is it safe to buy a branch or get one from your garden, wash it of course, that still has its bark on
Can you do a video on what to buy for larger birds like African greys or cockatoos
Please do more of these, they're so helpful
WHERE DID YOU GO COURTNEY!!!!!!!!????
Your profile photo is perfect
She’s back
I love your jacket. Damn slaaayyyyy ❤❤❤
What kinds of places can I get a parrotlet? All of my local pet stores don't carry them
Hi how are YOU? I have budgies. I am trying to learn from your training videos. Every time I let them out of the cage they fly all over the place and hard to Catch! What should I do?
Please do a video about how to clean the cage and when
Hey flock talk try to do a video of you teaching people and your birds to talk or sing / whistle
I bought the first toy in a store in Canada about 3 months ago. My bird also love it!!
Should I cover up the mirrors?
smogmoth i would recomend getting a diffrent bird first time getting one sun conures are very loud and take a lot of care
and for a sun conure 18by18by18 at least and i would recommend one from amazon their about 100 dollars or more
and yes get rid of them some birds will attack them or think their another bird and bond with them and not u! and they might try to throw up food to feed their “baby”!
and idk about the fake plants just do your research and if you still are not comfortable get rid of them
You should do a video on your daily feedings. Such as when and what you give your parrotlets everyday and how much servings per bird and that type of stuff.
I love your jacket in this video! Very Ninth Doctor ;)
Hope this helped x
im getting birds so what will be a good thing to give them to start with
Your parrotlets are so sweet and charming!
Advice?
im a bit hesitant on the bird kabobs, cuz if they are a strait up strings of wood, would the birds swallow chips of wood and get sick?
Hey Flock Talk are your older vids still relevant to use for training tips or other stuff? Just asking because bird logic can change
Your videos are great!
I am planing to get a lovebird, do you have any tips on taming it?
did u ever get ur birds wings clipped? Because I heard that when they don't have their wings clipped then they r harder to tame and they won't want to be with u anymore but after a while, u don't have to clip their wings. Sorry if this is confusing.
My bird loved the kabobs too. Everyone was making me doubt there things but I still tried it and found out they love the cardboard ones the best
Hi! I've thought very well about getting a bird and I'm now doubting between getting a Forpus or an Agapornis. I've never had a bird before. What could be the best choice for a beginner trainer?
It really depends on you schedule and life styles
hey the tricks you have done like shake basketball can a budgie do that also
Where do you find the oat sprays? please explain the sources and exact name of these toys we can find on line. Thank you for wonderful video.
You should add links in the description to the products
Also, If I Have Two Molting Cockatiels and They Have Many Blood Feathers, Should I Let Them Fly About Outside the Cage or Take It Slow?
Hey there, I saw a video where you recommended a feeding tray that is no mess. We have 2 cockatiels and a lot of the food is wasted/least. Do you recommend one?
Did you quit for real now???I really love your videos! Please make more DIY foraging toy vids. Thanks!
just so I can simply look back can you make a list of the names of the things you just went through the video?
Good Luck!
I have a question, im a student and i would love to have a bird but i have school for about 8 to 10 hours a day, is it possible to keep a (tame) bird and what bird species would be best to keep in my situation?
i wanted to ask about feeding. do you only feed them via foraging toys or do they have a regular supply of food then access. ie is foraging for fun or necessary life
what about cleaning supplies and what furniture to avoid in a bird room? LOVE your videos! so informative!
Thanking You (Waiting for a reply)
so for the birds kabobs do they try to eat it like because if they eat it will it hurt them
Are you alright, Courtney? We're all really worried.
She back
Chicken Birb yup
My parakeets don't like millet, and I give them other treats but they just don't eat them. So what do I use as a treat when they do tricks?
Can you please leave a link on where to get the manazita perches please? I've been looking for awesome perches like that for awhile but can't find them
Cowlover 21 I get my manzanita on amazon but make sure to look out for good reviews
amazon
Can these toys be for cockatiels as well? I'm looking for good toys for the bird I'm going to get.
why haven't you posted any videos lately? I really like watching them and I already learnt a lot throughout them. Is everything okay?
Yes, I'm also worried!
I've been searching like crazy, and I do find some information on parrolets and UV lights, but not enough for me to educate myself in what I should buy for my own. I have red your answers but I'm not that good so I really don't understand so well. Could you make a video about it? What kind of UV light do you use? And how many hours a day?
Please do more videos
Please come back! We miss you so much❤️
How do you know witch beauty full bird to get cause I love birds
Flock talk,
My cockatiel will not eat vegetables and fruit,we have experimented with a lot of different types and using sprouts. What could I do?
Thank you and keep making awesome videos!
where did you go I gust got a bird and you stopped making videos are you ok
Hello, as you can see, I have a rosa bourke parakeet. I have a 12 by 17 by 21.5 inch cage for her. How big would you recommend a cage for parrolets? I am planning on getting one this fall. Your information will help a ton! Thanks!
I Know She Has A Link To The One She Has For Mia And Zeeby, I’m Not Sure Which One, Though. Sorry!
the peek n pull foraging toy doesn't seem to exist, are there any good alternatives?
Tried finding the bael pods on Amazon, no luck there. The website you got them from charges an arm and a leg for shipping, beh.
