- I frequently give step by steps processes on how to train tricks but I've never really explained some of the finer details that go in to being able to successfully train a bird. Being able to properly utilize a variety of skills is necessary to have the most successful training session possible.
There's a few things I did leave out which I may make a part two on later but for now here's some important things to consider when starting your bird on the right track to training.

Sometimes my budgies mimics the clicking noise of my clicker to try and get treats. its so adorable!
I would give them the treat for that omg
@@rp101aquatics6 that would get annoying though after awile just constant clicking and confusion. I would get served a dish of instant regret.
My parrotlet doesn't eat the treats and he is also scered of any objeckt!HELP
@@marielawson6815 sammmee! I think my budgie doesn't know that spray millet/apple/strawberry is food😂
@Rose edits Thx for replying! They have learned that millet is food now:D Still trying to let them accept different (healthy!) new food.
I DIED WHEN SHE SAID "oh I shouldn't have done that, my fun thing left. I want my fun thing to come back" 😂😂😂
Ive seen a lot of useful training videos, and I've heard a lot of tips and everything, but this was probably the most useful video I've seen yet!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much.
I am a new bird owner and knowing this has slowly helped my birds to be less afraid of me interacting with them.
I will follow for more tips and Topics.
Your explanation of punishments and rewards should be applied to every “training” session of every creature including children. I would love to see what your universal video would show. Makes sense to teach to think and problem solve and in a positive manner for everyone. Thank you
This is an exceptional video! Great basics for anyone wanting to train their bird. I have clicker trained all my birds by watching your instructions and I find this video a really good refresher of all the factors of training. Thank you so much for all the hard work it took to make this very comprehensive tutorial.
This was suuuuuper useful, thank you so much for making this! I'm getting my first bird for a month or so, and this video helped me a lot in understanding how to actually train my bird, thank you!
just binged a whole bunch of your training videos, they're so useful and informative! you put in so much effort to make sure to explain exactly why certain steps are needed and this makes it very easy to understand your training. no wonder your birds do so well! also, you're super cool and charismatic and i so admire your vibe and energy ;D
This was extremely helpful. I plan on training my bird soon and this answered all of my questions! Thank you for another great video 😊
i could tell your birds make you so happy! amazing video so helpful! never heard half of these tips in all of my extensive research.
This video was *so* useful and I am so glad I found you!
Thank you for this awesome video! You are making so many birds out there happy by spreading great information about proper care and training. Will be getting a clicker soon to train my cockatiel. Keep posting videos, we love them!
Really detailed video about training, thanks! Do you have any advice regarding toilet training a bird? For e.g when taking them out for interaction, I'm able to hold them over a dustbin getting them to poop, or perhaps pooping before being taken out of the cage. I keep getting bird poop on my clothes, so I'm hoping to minimise it.
this is the best tameing video yet! I watched 1000 of tameing videos but this one really did it!
So glad to have found you since I have three birds now. One I rescued and two I bought.
You are such an informative teacher of birds, I'm sure your birds luv you
this was the best video in regards to the introduction to bird training. thank you
I CANT STOP STARING AT THE FLUFF IN YOUR HAIR OH MY GOOOOD
Thanks for the educational videos, you have a great deal of knowledge and I can see you are a wonderful person, you saved these birds and give them a whole new better life.
I am currently working on training my lovebird to wear a harness.
Can you help, and make a video how you done it?💙Thank you 💚
Hi your the best and very inspiring thanks for all the information. If I didn't know this whenever I got a parakeet for the first time, I would not know what harmful things I could have done without knowing.
Great video!Very informative and clear.
Thank you so much for the tips!
Wish me luck on getting my first (And very much needed) bird this month!
My mums a dog trainer so I grew up training dogs. (I’ve got 7 budgies and an Indian ringneck) everything you’ve explained, minus the words for some things is the exact same, training transfers over to all, and if you apply these methods to any animal it’ll work. When you talked about clicker recognition, in dog training we call it “charging” the item, like with a crate, harness, anything new you want the dog to associate with a good thing. Also dogs are the same when you talk about not everything having to be about food, I’ve found food to be useless in a lot of situations, and one that definitely crosses over to birds, is if they’re scared or aggressive.. food will do nothing in those situations. My dog is pretty well rounded.. maybe loves and licks a little to hard 😂 , but food does hardly anything outside, I only use it in the house, but a ball, omg she’ll do anything for you, she also loves human attention, and that’s her favourite reward, making people happy. I’ve noticed my IRN will take or leave a treat, she much prefers little toys and trinkets or anything to destroy, and even q-tips, that’s why it’s so important you build a bond and know any animal before you start training, you need to know what they love or you’re already setting them up to fail. And a phrase that I’m sure all trainers love is “any error in training is a human error”
*Is it okay to place a bird cage in my room?* I know that you *should* put it in the living room but the thing is it's really close to my kitchen. There is also not a lot going on, we usually are down there for watching loud movies, eating, or bumping up music. Most of my time is spent in my room. What are the pros and cons of I put it in my room?
Ashley Pocken I have both of my bird cages in my bedroom, for those same reasons. I take them out and around the house though.
TheOfficialCasi Okay! I will keep that in mind, thank you!
i just got a parakeet last month and have him in my room, no problems so far but I guess it does depend on the household
I would recommend covering up there cages at night since sometimes when you sleep lose feathers can come in your mouth
that's why my mum doesn't let my budgies in my room
Our three babies spend most of their time in whichever room we are in, but their cage lives in the bedroom as it's the biggest room of the apartment (and the one we usually spend most of our time in). So it's easiest to just open the door and let them do their thing while we're doing ours.
You should cover their cage at night to save them from night terrors/frights (if you can't offer a pitch black room with guarantee no one will enter until morning), more than anything. Loose feathers (or "fluffies", as we call 'em) aren't really any more dangerous than loose hairs; and if you've got a good hoovering routine going, there's very little worry about feathers flying about everywhere ^_^
I am getting my first bird this Friday, August 11, 2017, a cockatiel. I have been watching A LOT of video's and reading articles to learn all I can about them. You are by far the BEST person to learn from. Where did you get all this knowledge on birds and how to train them? You are amazing! How often do you make video's? I would love to keep up with you. I saw one video where you were teaching your bird to play basketball. Can I ask where you purchased the cute little orange ball? Lastly, do you have a name other than Flock-Talk.
My name is Kate. I didn't realize my daughter had signed into my account. (Dominique) LOL
Just two days ago my bird died ... it was the worst day ever that same day my mom got me a new bird to cheer me up . Then yesterday at my Saturday class I broke down and cried cuz I miss my bird at my teacher just yelled at me I felt like punching someone
Don't worry! All of us break down, don't take your mood out with violence. Trust me I know that feeling of frustration, but know that your bird is still flying in heaven. Enjoy everything you have while you have it.
I’m very sorry to hear that. Some people are so blind and mean when it comes to losing a family member, even if it’s “only a pet”. They don’t understand how much that animal meant to you, how much you loved each other. I hope you’re ready to have another bird, i know that after mine passed that it was extremely difficult to accept the idea of another pet. I know the frustrastion of someone being so rude even though you’ve just lost a loved one, and I’m sorry you had to expeirience it, as well. Rest In Peace little birb.
aww i am soo sorry for ur loss! :(
Bunnystorm 101 Don't listen to the teacher. It's okay to cry 😘
This is soo much more sad because this is were you put it
I got a green parrotlet today. He is not very tame but let’s me put her on her back. Her name is kiwi. I got inspired to get her from you. I will train her and make her so tame. Keep going flock tal, my girl!
Omg she died today and I also got a new one. Her name is ?
I love how your birds "talk" idk how you would say it like how you displayed what they think.
Hi! I have 8 parakeets! ❤️ they all fly to my hand and land on hand and eat when I have Millet in hand. A couple will step up when I have millet ready immediately! Only one will step up on my finger without millet.
Trying to figure out how to get them to come without the millet? Should I restart and do target training?
I love your hairstyle! I have a very similar one but my hair is shorter and I cut my hair myself!
Love your video's! I just adopted a 9 month old Quaker. He is pretty well behaved, but definitely needs to learn to come off a shoulder without biting. Do you have a video or recommendations on that topic? In regards to the target training after I did some clicker training, I moved to the target training and found that when I brought out the little stick (very similar to the one in your video) my bird takes off and flies away. He just seems to be scared of it. Then randomly today, I had a small paint brush out and he came and grabbed it. I think I just found my 'target' stick that I can use for training. :)
I really need help on this, as I am thinking of getting a budgie as I have been researching for two years now. The only problem is, that I don't know which order I should do the training tutorials in (what to start on). I was thing to start on step up, but as I have seen that target training is the base trick, I'm not sure whether to start on target training or step up. I hope you read this but thank you anyway on such an amazing video!
With my bird, the first thing we did was step up but that was after he was eating millet and seeds from my hands. It really depends on the bird's personality as they are all very different.
My bird wouldn't eat from his dish (the cage came with one that could only attach near the bottom and he won't go down there for some reason) and would only hand feed. He took to it instantly although was cautious of my hand when it didn't have treats. I didn't try to pet him either, just feed. Also, he wouldn't start eating until I said "do you want a treat, darling?"
A while later I started asking him to step up while hand feeding. He stepped onto my hand to eat then. After feeding was done, I put my finger like a perch gently against his lower belly and said step up and he did. I believe this is the simplest trick for them to learn when they are already comfortable with your hand.
I hope this helps and I apologize for the length. Good luck!
the order i use for basic training is target training, step up, drop it, ringing a bell, stationing and recalling, laps and nail trimming.
Excellent video ... 👍
Would a pen work for the clicking?
Do you have just a video for recall training? I will get a stick and clicker. 😊
I have a question. Are you allowed to or have you ever left your birds in the bird room alone? Like when you take them out and have to do something do you leave? Are you allowed to? Like if you know it's safe? Sorry about this it's just I wanna know! :)
I adopted a young parakeet with a broken wing, do you have any taming tips? General bird advice? It has warmed up to me and my siblings, and is willing to eat millet out of my hand.
Hey there I LOVE your videos and I actually agree with positive reinforcements! Uh but I was misinformed in the past, and I think I've made my bird have fear association with a perch or my hand. Can it still be re-taught? Thank you
Your hair keeps distracting me. It's so beautiful
HI. Thank you for all of these great videos. I've started target training my cockatiel and have a question for you. The first trick he learned was the spin (as you had in a video). He got it down pretty quickly, and I'm now working on getting him to spin just with my gesture rather than following the stick. BUT what do you do if after a while of training he does the trick without your asking him to? Should you reward him for doing the action or not reward him so that he knows you only want him to do it when asked?
Thank you again. and any advice is helpful!
Hi I need tip from you I have got parrotlet it’s girl she is 7 months old I got her 1 month and she don’t want to fly from cage.... please help me what to doo. I have absolutely no idea what’s wrong with her
Hi im sorta curious
Cuz
My pet parrotlet likes branches/natural porches
So i put treats to on the branch then he climbs up on it to get the treat
Should I continue this practice or should i stop?
(My parrotlet is new)
Also.....
i cant place my bird inside my house
Where should i train it?
Just today Feb 13 2019
My bird let me get near it with a treat
And the i kept doing that and then i tried it without a treat
It let me get really close to it
Why does my bird suprise me quickly
It went out of its cage with a porch that im holding
And now it let me really close to it.
Am i suppose to be worried?
Does this apply to budgies? Which are harder to train?
If you can around how long did it take you to train one of your birds?
This is so informative! I'm 11 and I am getting a bird in like 3-ish weeks and I've been rescerching a lot! So thanks! (Sorry I can't spell -_-)
I have two male budgies but whenever I try to get one of them used to perching on a stick, they get distracted by each other. The yellow one keeps wanting to be near the green one. How should I train them in this case? They will get on the stick and my finger occasionally but sometimes doesn't want the treat. I have to push under their feet to get them to step up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 😊
My Parrotlet didn’t like hands but loves to sit on my shoulder. He prefers to walk up on my shoulder from his cage than me picking him up. He is a very friendly but he doesn’t like to take food from my fingers. I have given him millet as a easy snack by putting a stalk of millet in his cage. Now he is addicted to having millet; should I let him have millet whenever he wants or save it for training?
Could you please make a video how to train a parrotlet not to bite? 😢 we got a 9 months old parrotlet and he bites my neck and fingers a lot
Have you ever considered doing a podcast? I would love to fall asleep to a bird talk- podcast or something...
Will be getting a Parrotlet soon & wanted to know how to introduce them to each other. My cat (Harley) is 8 yrs old. Are there any suggestions on this issue?
I'd love to see a video on bird first aid kit. the things all bird owners should have. heating pad etc
@Flock-Talk I just started my tiel on target training and she *loves* it. She's very young, 4 months, and I don't want to push her too fast. Once I start wanting to introduce other trainings how do I get her to associate the verbal commands with the behavior and how long before I should start that?
is it harder to train two budgies than one and is it still possible. should they be separated so easier
should we use some treat for the target training???
hi u r doing an awesome job n helping us a lot. is there any specific age to start training? i plan on buying a budgie or cocktiel. what is the best age of these birds. thanks in advance.
reply me plz
Where did u find the different type of clickers
Hi I enjoy watching you so young and knowledgeable , I have a parolette who follows me all over the house but only steps up with a stick and eventually goes up my arm without noticing but she is so afraid of human hands but not my feet she loves to climb and play amd bite my toes
What can I do to have her step up with my hands? Please. Advice
Hi I am not sure if your reading this but I have two parakeets and I cant get them out of their cage and I don't want to grab them with a rag because that just makes them fear me and when ever I do this they will fly to the top of the cage because they are not together. Also, I will leave the cage door open and they won't fly out naturally and they learn to trust me best when the are out of their cage. I would love if you could tell me what to do so I can get them out so they can learn to trust me better.
-Grace
i went through this exact same situation. just try to gain their trust inside the cage. Put your hand in for like 20 mins, and they will get used to it. Then try to feed them once they are used to your hand. Then eventually they will want to step up. It just takes LOTS of time. I hope this helps!
SSwiner120 I'm going through the same situation. My two budgies are having a hard time trusting me after I take them out of the cage. Don't force them. Maybe get food or a treat they like in your hand and slowly take your hand closer to the door and just keep it there a while. Slow baby steps as you gain trust from your birds.
SSwiner120 my birds were a little like that but all I do is put my hand in the cage and move it a little and they fly out but be care when you put your hand in if your birds is curious because my white parakeet is so curious she gets on my hand and bites it
SSwiner120 sometimes when you buy two birds and but them together they become content with each other and not with their owner. I have no experience with this so I am not sure that I can help 😕
Hi, how long have you had these birds? Sometimes it can take weeks, even months for a bird to be able to trust completely. It may be hard, but you may just have to be super patient with them. Talk to them with a low, calm voice outside of their cage(s) daily, and if they and you are Comfortable with it, maybe sit with your hand in the cage. For more information, please look online for "taming a bird". If it includes stepping up, DO NOT FORCE IT. Even if the source says to, please don't. Watch Flock Talks "step up is a question" video first. Flock Talk and Avian Avenue are my number one choices for tips, please sign up for Avian Avenue, you can ask questions any time of day, and get answers within minutes. The members are fellow parrot owners, most quite experienced, some with up to sixteen parrots or more. This was not an advertisement, I just love that website so much. So yes, Courtney and AA are my number one sources. Good luck!
So do you remove the first and second seeds from their daily meal and only use the favorite for training?
In general yes I would limit access to the training treats outside of training sessions, there are some birds who may become overstimulated if they are too excited by a reward however so it’s important to make that choice on a bird by bird basis
I just got a new budgie and I've tried feeding it fruits, dried fruits, sunflower seeds, etc. but it will only eat the pet store seeds. Any advice?
Hello hello!I know you posted this video a while back, but I hope you see this regardless. I've recently gotten my first bird, a young budgerigar, who is roughly three months old. He (possibly she, they're ablino so I can't tell without a test. I just assume they're a male because he chirps, and female budgies tend to have a reputation of being quieter) has a very mellow temperament and is okay with me reaching into the cage, but backs away when I get close to him, which is to be expected from a new bird that has never had any physical contact with a human. He's uncomfortable with my hand near him, but doesn't fly away unless were to I force him off the perch with my hand, and doesn't show any signs of aggression. I want to begin training, since he's settled into his new home well, so I plan on beginning hand feeding him to get him more comfortable with my hand being near him rather than just in his cage. Do you have any tips about this? I'm not too worried about going through the hand-taming process, as, while it's time consuming, it's not necessarily hard, especially with a mellow bird such as Camille, (my bird). It'll just take a bit of trust, time, and effort, but having another opinion is never a bad thing. If anyone else wants to reply with tips, feel free to do so as well! Any information is helpful.
Hi, you said it's good to have a clicker while training, but I can't find where to buy it . Do you know any internet shops or something where I could find it? :)
Yea i whould like to know
Excuse me, should we let the birds hungry for a while before we start training?
Because when my birds are not hungry, they often ignore my instructions, and only when they feel hungry will they care
i have an extremely attached bird, how do I make him stay on the table or surface to train him properly? He often just climbs my hand to get any food thats in it.
Lilli Gorojovsky me too
Lilli Gorojovsky when I place mine on my table it stays for a second, walks one step, Then flys up to my shoulder to preen my hair.

Is craft twine safe for budgies?
Where did you get your parrotlet's cage? Btw I love your bird room!
If your bird is not trained at all ,when I start to train , I don’t really want to clip their wings , so what should I do to start and how would I get them get them to go back in their cage? I hope someone sees this and offer some help.
You seem so good at taking care of your birds! Could I please request a video on how to make a bird like being pet? My green cheek conure trusts me enough to sit on my hand but he won’t let me pet him :( Whenever I move my finger closer to his head, he fly away, try to bite me (but not too hard) or steps up on it. His previous owner told me he wasn’t completely tame and hadn’t been handled very much and I really wish to change that. Any tips will be appreciated! :)
I bought 2 parakeets off of craigslist. I took the to a bird store to buy them a new cage and set up. They cut their nails and trimmed their wings. I had the intention of letting them grow back. Anyhow it will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I had them and Taz wing on both side grew back, but Sunshine only grew back on one side. He keep falling to the bottom of the cage. Could it be because his weeks are uneven. Please help. I don't know anyone who knows about birds. The store I went to yelled at me because I was not going to keep their wings clipped.
That store wants you to bring then back to get their wings clipped so the store makes money any ways the wing grows back as the bird moults different bird moult at different times
Early! also can any of the tricks on ur channel work for my Budgies?
Flock-Talk thank you so much for this video. Now i can finally start to teach my budgie some cool tricks!
Flock-Talk u r replying to these question bit u r not replying to my problem .
what should I do for it.
read in the upper comments to see my problem ....plz...... I'm in problem .....😢😢😭😭😢😭
Is it hard to get wet bird poo out of the carpet? If so, is there a product you can by?
Let is dry then wipe it of
I need help :( I have had my birds for 2 years and I was trying to train them I trained them 3 times a day for an hour and they would always puff up and fly away from me is there anything that I can do so that they can like me again they are not tamed and I would get so sad each day because they wouldn't listen to me and now I think they hate me :( Would they like me again if I followed this
How do you keep the bird from forgetting the trick within the day without tiring Them out? What can I do to make them not forget?
Amazing!!!! Very helpful
OMG YOUR BACK
I just saw that😂
My notifications were so delayed😭
Hello. How do you give a treat to a bird that is still learning to get used to you or are still defensive or is still scared? Cause I would like to give him a treat whenever he step up onto my finger. Which is rare n difficult moment.
Keep getting the bird used to you dont directly put ur hand or the treat up against the bird's face, just put some treats in ur palm and let the burd eat it then the bird will get used to ur hand and maybe u can give a treat to them
Very helpful, thank you
Can you tell me about clipping parakeets wings because I recently got one and I don't really know what do to. Thx
lil Skittles simply don't clip them, her birds aren't clipped if that's what you want to know
Thank you so much😀😁❤
My Quaker parrot hates the clicker that I have. Every time I click it she attacks it.What should I do?????
Can your training vids also work for lovebirds?
+Flock-Talk ok thanks :)
where do you get your toys? And I don't have a pet store around so where else could I get my birds some fun toys?
amazon
Who's the early "birds"
My parakeet is used to my hand but won't step up unless I slide my finger underneath his feet. What do I do to get him to step up without me having to slide my finger underneath his feet?
Top Free Intros Push up lightly against the lower belly area of the bird
Have you tried luring them with a treat?
To the people asking about if you can use a pen instead of a clicker, yes you can I clicked trained my cat with a pen and a chopstick (for targeting) but an actual clicker is probably better. To answer your question yes but it's probably best as a temporary solution as you can't fit it in your hand as well and if you use a click pen around your pet then they will think it's training time or expect a treat!
If anythings stupid it would be the bird trainer calling the bird stupid because they're not taking the time to make sure the bird understands and putting themselves in the birds position
can you make a video about taming a bird
okay, so, can someone help? I have a two year old Australian budgie, I've had him for ever a year and a half. I git him when he was two months old. he's seen the death of two other cage mates due to medical conditions that couldn't have been prevented (many vet visits later) and I can handle him. he'll sit on my finger and everything, he's not afraid of me at all. he gets a large amount of my attention and toys when I'm not home and his cage is almost always open, however. he will never stay with me or so me to me, nor eat a treat out if my hand. he also hates vegetables and fruit. Ive given him full salads to chose what he does and doesn't like, and he wouldn't touch any if it. but his cage mates had. so I'm forced to give him supplements and mineral blocks, he will never take food from me and will always fly back to his cage if I go to walk away with him on my hand. how can I fix this?
Can you PLEASE make a vid (or type respond) how to get a bird out of the cage because my bird ALWAYS flys back into the cage
Ella Mitchell earn they're trust.
are they tamed?
where did you get your clickers?
Kids Tullis shop 😂
You can get them at petco or petsmart.
I'm watching ur vids to help me train my bird once I get one.
can you or anyont tell me how i can get my new parrotlet to trust me? she is 7 weeks.
first step: spend a lot of time by the cage, but do not put your hand inside it or try to get them to do anything
second step: put your hand up to the cage, but again, do not put it inside the cage or try to touch them
third step: put your hand inside the cage but don't grab them, touch them, pet them or anything else. You just want them to get used to your hand inside the cage.
fourth step: feed them a few treats from your hand, but only when your bird is comfortable with your hand in the cage.
fifth step: push up lightly against their lower belly to try and get them to hop on your finger. when they do this, feed them a treat.
sixth step: bird proof the room that your cage is in, and shut all the doors and let it out of your cage. if it stays on your finger or flies around the room it is ok. just be ready for it to poop in that room about ever 10-15 mins if you let it out a lot.
Doing this process may take up to a month, but it will hopefully help your bird bond with and trust you. Remember to not move onto the next step until your bird is comfortable with the current one. I hope this will help you!
Logan Blackburn she was handfed so she already eats out of my hand and she has gotten on it 2 times but thats it and it normally only last for a few seconds.. and it takes about 2 or 3 hrs of me giving her treats. i talk to her and feed her for about 10 115 mins on and off for a loong time then maybe eventually she will get on
but as soon as i move my hand at all even on accident she flys to the back
flock talk plz... respond me what should I do about it plz..... I have faith in u plz..... don't break it
Raju Tandon dude chill, she is a person with a job and life so she can't respond to everyone it doesn't mean she doesn't care it means she's human
Does celery count as a treat
WoofMeforever _ If the bird likes it that much, then yes.
WoofMeforever _ but take the little l thread things out their bodies can't digest it
Alyssa Grasso my birds can digest it they are in LOVE with it I have had these types of birds for 2 years and all of them go crazy for it
WoofMeforever _ I'm sure they do. But what I'm saying is take the threads out. You run a chance of it causing a blockage because t their crop/stomach can't not break down the threads no one can. Not dogs not humans not birds. It's called non soluble fiber if you don't believe me all your Dr. I'm not saying don't feed it. I'm saying for the safety of you birds pleases PLAY IT SAFE and take the threads out. 2 years isn't that long parrots live for 15-100+years. You could feed them velvety for 50 years and one day they did of a blockage. I'm just saying don't risk it their lives are at stake
I have 2 1 month year old budgies I
I can't wait to try it
What are some games u can teach ur bird like basketbal
What is a healthy diet I can bye
My budgie when I got her she was already almost an adult help?!
What if your untamed very angry, biting, hissing cockatiel won’t listen or learn what do I do. I cant take it out of my cage because I am scared it won’t go back in I need help. I have been talking to my bird and telling it story’s and it looks calm but when I put my hand in the cage it will turn into a raptor. Please help me or answer my question. U have been the most helpful TH-camr about birds as you say the truth. Some lie and say they tame a wild bird in 1 day. I trust you thanks 🕊
EpicGamer123 HD
Try putting your hand *outside* the cage but so they can see it and if they stay calm give them a treat through the bars *then* try inside the cage with a treat
I wish if u can do it for parrot cockatoo
