After 2 years of lockdown we Australians are finally allowed to leave! Me and the mrs are doing EBC via Jiri and the 3 passes as our first destination in our 11 month backpacking trip. I absolutely cannot wait and this video has inspired and enriched me with confidence. Thank you brother.
You'll love the walk from Jiri! Those first few days before reaching the main tourist trail are beautiful and peaceful. Some really nice small villages and lodges there. Make sure you add Pikey peak to your route, it's a little extra but you get AMAZING views of the big peaks at sunrise, totally worth it
EBC! Did this trek in Oct 2019. Amazing mountains. They just never seem to end. Was a life long dream for me. Can’t wait to get back to Nepal to see more.

Really enjoying having this breakdown separately. We did EBC a few years ago and had an amazing time. Watching this and the main video brought back so many incredible memories. Thank you. 👍🏻
I strongly recommend you go back to the Everest region and hike the Three Passes trek - this partly overlaps with the EBC trek but is less crowded (you get to do a side trip to EBC if you want) but otherwise you spend time on quieter trails and more of the trail gets you amongst real, working communities instead of trekking-oriented villages like some of those on the EBC trek. The Three Passes trek also gives you many epic views of Everest (some actually with Everest being the tallest peak on the horizon as compared to most of the views on the EBC trek where Everest looks "smaller" than surrounding peaks because it's set further back). You can totally do the Three Passes without any guides but it is a more demanding trek and you do still need to obtain all the relevant permits.

Thank you for your video Kraig! They are awesome and inspiring! This is Nigel from Hong Kong, Had supported with Super Thanks, please do more great videos! I did the Everest trek from Lamosangu in 1974, just after it opened. You can still do a long trek from Jiri which is about 4 days in from Lamosangu. For directions, we had an old dyeline map which was very basic but you got by asking people the way. We got robbed at Lamjura Pass and later attacked by dogs plus we got lost a few times, once for 2 days in a canyon during which we ran out of food but nothing serious. Pheriche consisted of one mud brick hut, half buried in the permafrost and Gorak Shep did not exist. Unfortunately, I'm getting too old for trekking but it remains a lifetime highlight.

Ideas for videos: - Hike tutorial - live editing a video (sound extraction, story telling, sound design, story board or not.. ) - Updated hiking gear 2022 - Drone operations (best practices, experience with people reacting negatively, problems with drone restrictions) - Washing clothes on a longer drip (special soap, products, anti odor) - Wild animal encounters and/or prep to stay safe ...

Wow, Mingma David Sherpa? I'm watching a documentary on him along with a Nepalese team in 2019 that climbed all of the 8000m + peaks in a single climbing season .... mind blown.
Not your usual stuff obviously and saw you tried to get away from the group to give the solo vibe which is a plus, you gave me a good laugh when you complained about being too old for the travelling. Try 3 connections and 40 hours plus in planes n buses (door to door) at 50 years of age for my last big trip. I do it again tomorrow as this pandemic just refocused how great it is to travel even with the headaches that go with silly layovers. Keep up the great work 💪💪
I always thought the hike up there looks more interesting than climbing Everest. Can’t wait to watch the video. Please do books that changed your life 🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing all details of your trip. I'd love to hike to Everest Base Camp someday... I also recently purchased the same lens Sony 20mm f1.8. I love it too!
Thank you for the video Kraig. I really enjoy the behind the scenes videos of your trips. This one was especially interesting, given the World Vlog Challenge aspect. Time to go back and watch the silent video armed with my behind the scenes knowledge.
Awesome video. Nice experience and lovely dogs!! You're a very talented and smart guy. Hope to see you one day nearby, in Patagonia. Greetings from Argentina, South America.
I love all your videos..... you’re amazing. EBC is my #1 bucket list dream..... but I’ll probably have to live it through your eyes - so thank you. I waited all the way until the end to meet Sasha... I got scared for a second that you’d forget 😜. She’s adorable.
this seems so special and I’m so glad the trip went so smoothly for you! i guess that’s what happens when you hike with the open minded/flexible attitude you had. hope to make this hike someday!
The "things" you turn as you pass on the left side are called "Prayer Wheels" (or "Mani" Wheels in Tibetan)! They are inscribed with Buddhist mantras and contain rolls of scripture or prayers inside. Turning the prayer wheel (with intention!) can be used as a part of the person's daily meditation practice and to build wisdom and "good karma" and intentionally put aside negative energy and bad karma.
The basic EBC trek can be made better by going up via Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail instead of going through Tengpoche twice. The High Scening Trail high on the opposite side of the valley offers tremendous views of the impressive peaks, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Tengpoche can be visited on the way down. Several big name western agencies have started using it in recent years, and both guides and clients just love it.
Api base camp trek in the farwest region , Khaptad national park are some of the hidden gems. Truely raw, untouched beauties. Although you will be lacking 5 star accommodation, but it is totally worth it.
Thanks for this. Loved the EBC video and now I know the back story. I almost ran Grindstone this year and saw your video of your brother I think? Of course love the channel. Thanks!
Would you also make a how-to video about the hike please? This vid was really fun but didn't really say much about the experience itself, advice, how to prep for food, etc. Thanks so much
Hi Kraig. I am Walter and following your treks . Because i am a trekker as well. Verry good. I did this tour also in 2018 but different. First we did the Renjo La 5360 mtr en the Cho la 5420 mtr. This by far the most beautiful trek but its heavy. If you have the possibility do this trek you can do it easily with your skills. The views are stunning and much better than the strait tour to Base Camp. And to be specific...ii was at that time 69 years old ...but very well trained. Good luck man. See you next treks on the channel. An other tip...go trekking the Frozen River in Nortern India in Ladakh....that is for the realy hard guys...
i think once in awhile you should call Everest Chomolongma. i liked the video, really grateful you set your camera in beautiful places than walk back to go get it. Really enjoy it when you pet cats and dogs.
One recommendation for you when you are in Nepal is to maybe do the Upper Dolpo Trails. From Juphal to Jomsom. It is completely unique and different from the normal trails in Nepal.
@@basedpatriotLT The terrain is more arid and desert like as dolpo lies beyond the dhaulagiri range. Also, the culture is more isolated and raw as the place is relatively untouched due to the difficulty in getting there. The landscape is more vast and expansive than other places in Nepal. It is wildly different than any other treks in Nepal.
This is so cool! I love getting to see the behind the scenes to your videos!!! WINTER KRAIG IS COMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! :D Also Sasha is getting so big omg 😱
Hey! Would be amazing if maybe the distance and elevation gains measurements could also be on kms and meters! (I think miles are easily converted but I'm completely lost with ft elevation gain) Great fan of your work! Have a nice day. :)
yea totally you should do Manaslu Circuit, I guess it's your vibe, I did it in September (I was the first tourist of the season and it was an amazing and very raw experience)
Nice breakdown, thank you. Manaslu is a fantastic trek. It's more calm and not as touristy. Annapurna is great as well, the view after you cross the pass and can see glimpses of Mustang when you hike down to Muktinath is just mindblowing. It's more crowded though and I think they have a road now (or are working on it). Anyway your new homies probably told you already all about it 😃🇳🇵

I love all your videos..... you’re amazing. EBC is my #1 bucket list dream..... but I’ll probably have to live it through your eyes - so thank you. I waited all the way until the end to meet Sasha... I got scared for a second that you’d forget 😜. She’s adorable.
The little peek at how you do your editing especially the audio was very eye opening, thankyou
Thank you for this!
The national bird of Nepal is indeed a species of pheasant: the Himalayan Monal.
this seems so special and I’m so glad the trip went so smoothly for you! i guess that’s what happens when you hike with the open minded/flexible attitude you had. hope to make this hike someday!
Big fan Kraig keep up the great content my dude!
I like to go in winter January time. Not many tourists and the mountains are draped in there winter coat. Crisp and clear views. Cold nights tho.
Watching this after seeing those legends in 14 peaks! Great video brother, love the behind the scenes!
My friends and I were just there in the beginning of October. I would recommend the trip too.
Funny, I've visited almost all the national parks, trekked in the Himalaya and the Andes, and Big Bend is one of my favorite places anywhere, LOL
Thanks for visiting again, Kraig! 🇳🇵❤
lo-fi music wilds out every so often. need to do better background music or none at all going forward!
Hi Kraig, great video, thanks 🙏 Do you fold in and out your tripod every time or do you hike with your camera mounted on your (folded) tripod?
In the ambient video the music was awesome as always my favorite was at the 2:58 mark. Could you share which track that is?
Really enjoyed Kraig... It's epic... will try someday to follow that track for sure! Wonderful!
I proposed to my gf at the time on the EBC trek and she said no. But loved the trek!
Iceland is too much to handle. Probably the most beautiful and untouched landscapes in the world. Definitely worth to pay a visit and go exploring
An amazing trip to say the least, well done Kraig!
Api base camp trek in the farwest region , Khaptad national park
are some of the hidden gems. Truely raw, untouched beauties.
Although you will be lacking 5 star accommodation, but it is totally worth it.
First time viewer, I was in Nepal 2009 I'm now looking at returning after viewing your blog, I too do solo,2022 off to Lisbon to Muxia, thank you
I think you mean the Sony 20mm F1.8. I actually noticed the difference in quality of the image and wondered what you were using. I love that lens.
The drone shots look just like the cinematic screen saver videos for Apple TV. Amazing! Highly recommended to watch on a big screen TV.
Just wanted to let you know you’ve inspired me to film. Thanks Kraig!
Wow! That Saturday is getting beautiful
Dude you are awesome. I have been following you since the wedding film days. Saw your video after a really long time.
Thanks so much
I love all the video ideas list especially the digital nomad idea!!
Big bend is great as a general thing but for someone who has done the things you have, totally get why it isn’t as good
Truly liked both video’s and yes Nepal is amazing. We have done the Annapurna trek, quite some years ago, still one of my favorite hikes.
i think once in awhile you should call Everest Chomolongma. i liked the video, really grateful you set your camera in beautiful places than walk back to go get it. Really enjoy it when you pet cats and dogs.
One recommendation for you when you are in Nepal is to maybe do the Upper Dolpo Trails. From Juphal to Jomsom. It is completely unique and different from the normal trails in Nepal.
Seems similat from the photos, what are the differences?
@@basedpatriotLT The terrain is more arid and desert like as dolpo lies beyond the dhaulagiri range. Also, the culture is more isolated and raw as the place is relatively untouched due to the difficulty in getting there. The landscape is more vast and expansive than other places in Nepal. It is wildly different than any other treks in Nepal.
I can only dream but you made it a reality ! Amazing as always
This is so cool! I love getting to see the behind the scenes to your videos!!! WINTER KRAIG IS COMINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! :D
Also Sasha is getting so big omg 😱
Thank you for this great behind the scene video. So inspiring. 🙏.
Hey! Would be amazing if maybe the distance and elevation gains measurements could also be on kms and meters! (I think miles are easily converted but I'm completely lost with ft elevation gain) Great fan of your work! Have a nice day. :)
Always great stuff! Would love to do this one day
yea totally you should do Manaslu Circuit, I guess it's your vibe, I did it in September (I was the first tourist of the season and it was an amazing and very raw experience)
Anyway your new homies probably told you already all about it 😃🇳🇵
Looks like an amazing trip, I'd kill for just 1/10 the viewers you get in 48 hours of upload. You're crushin' it Kraig.
I really like these separate behind the scenes videos.
