    Thanks for filming your personal experience. As a journalist for many years this is a project I would’ve liked to do. One thing I like about this, it was raw and that’s good. Sometimes we don’t need the cinematic shots and look edits. Really good POV…definitely an eye opener and it’s good that people see this, like it or hate it…it’s the truth about what some of our people go through, who are we to judge. Respect and thank you for that eye opener. Best to you Paul Universe, way to survive!

    Growing up here being a troubled youth I would constantly get kicked out, I would be out on the streets for a few days sometimes a week or more not even 16 yet and although Guam isn’t as crazy as other places around the world being homeless especially as a kid is still painful and scary. I’m a grown man now with my own little spot and I have my own kid who I would never allow to go through what I went through be it through me kicking her out or my own failures and we end up homeless. I have to be better than my parents and do better than I did yesterday for her sake. I say all that to say this. Thank you so much for this video. I appreciate this more than I can really express. May God bless you!

    I swear these are the things we fail to see, thank you for shining a light on this subject! I guess I see Paul on his bad days, because your video really made me see the good he does and just surviving with what you have left . We really do take things for granted these days and it’s sad that people like Paul have to work double time just to eat .

    • @planetguam8475
      @planetguam8475  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Paul has a lot more patience than many. He had his wife stolen, his speaker taken before my eyes, and a week later (after I went home) his bicycle missing. He, like everyone else, have bad days - thanks for understanding 🙏🏽❤.

    Paul lives in a mansion. Guam! Yes, living the life he wants. He is not homeless. He is living an alternate life, unlike many of us. Paul, you are an inspiration in many ways.

  • @kiananq5878
    @kiananq5878 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Wow! This is such a great experiment for you to do & share with others. Paul is so humble and with he has, he thinks of not just himself but others (you).
    Having relocated out here to Phoenix, AZ… was eye opening. The amount of people & their families living on the streets is crazy, but we were told it is the way many of them choose to live, and of course it does play in the fact that most are addicted to controlled substances (AZ choice of drug: Fentanyl & yes it is easier to get here since we are along the border of Mexico).

    • @planetguam8475
      @planetguam8475  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, many don't realize how easy we have it here on island. Never seen Fentanyl, and I pray to god it doesn't become a problem here. Thank you for this insightful information.

  • @Nick_Ryder
    @Nick_Ryder 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I live in Seattle so this is quite a contrast to the homeless here. The people you interviewed still have their wits about them and don't live in squalor. When fentanyl and gangs get mixed in you end up with catastrophic circumstances. You seem like a compassionate person, don't lose that, but also don't put up with any forces within your community (including politicians) that justify homeless encampments, drug dens, or pitching a tent on the sidewalk under the guise of "compassion". I'm sure the bleeding hearts where I live feel really great about themselves, but when you look at the suffering of the homeless out here you realize how cruel that position is.

    • @planetguam8475
      @planetguam8475  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      True. Thank God fentanyl isn't rampant here. The mainland is much harsher, the whether alone can kill you, and the people are not as giving. Your insights is much appreciated.

    wow! this was so eye-opening to some of us living outside of Guam. it was very enlightening to see this perspective on homelessness. however, it did not seem right for Paul to give you some of his earnings while you seem to be sidelining. it would've been better to see you helping Paul instead of living off him if you wanted the "real experience."

    it's sad to hear in one of the pacific island nation some people are homeless. I am from the cook island we live of the sea and land; you plant any fruit or vege in the ground they just grow very fast. There are pigs, goats, native chicken roam around, just catch it and prep, cook it

    Meanwhile here in the US mainland. You got mostly military aged men getting handouts off the taxpayers. Monthly stipend, medical care, EBT, and housing.
    I've seen the homeless in Guam when I visited there earlier this year. Over 90 percent appeared to be native Chamorros. It sickens a veteran like me who served this country. To see our tax dollars wasted on conflicts abroad by the billions from greedy politicians in Washington. America could have been like Qatar, Dubai, or Hong Kong with it massive wealth. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

    Can tell Paul getting annoyed with you. Instead of just asking and asking what’s for lunch/dinner, maybe offer to help. Maybe you did, but first 20mins don’t show that. Human relationships depend on trust and reciprocity. When you remove those, there is no relationship. You’re lucky you are not in prison, or you would be Paul’s bitch.
    You are also burning Paul’s locations/survival methods. So that’s part of why he’s annoyed. Your documentary provides great insight though. God protect Paul. I live on Guam now and will be on the lookout for folks like Paul to help with what I can.

      I know only one, she a tough female. I’ll look for her, and I’ll look around for others. Gonna be hard to find a homeless one because Palau are hard working people.

    I never thought they’ll be home back home while I’ve been away for a while over 30 years Lańa Adai what did they came from? Are they from other islands? Are there from other states that sent them to Guam on the one with ticket? How do we get homeless what is our governor and our mayors and our officials to get ready to get rid of them or educate them or help them give them off the streets warm is not the mainland We don’t need all of this BS.

      A lot of truth in what you say. I'd like to do an interview with you. I held back in revealing some things due to an agreement I had with some. In the last video of this 3 part experiment I will reveal my honest opinion, which is pretty much in line with what you say. Thanks for your honest comment. Much appreciated. LMK if you're available for an interview, your insights will be really helpful. Thanks 🙏🏽
