- Patrick Swayze has been aggressively fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer for the last year but said he hasn't let the battle take over his life. ''One thing I'm not gonna do is chase staying alive,'' Swayze told Barbara Walters in his first interview since the diagnosis last year. ''You spend so much time chasing staying alive, you won't live.''
The 56-year-old-actor, beloved for his role in the film ''Dirty Dancing,'' said he and wife Lisa Niemi still find time to dance together. And a few months ago, on the spur of the moment, they decided to renew their vows. The interview took place at his California ranch.
^^He is one of the most beautiful people who has ever lived. Not by the genetic make up of his face, the way he moved, or what he wore on his body, but because he had a heart of gold and lived a genuine life. Rest in peace, Patrick. I'm sure he's dancing in heaven with the angels.
Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive, brutal cancer. I lost a grandmother to it almost 2 years ago, and I've never seen anyone fight any disease like Patrick did. He's very inspirational.

Patrick Swayze war ein guter Schauspieler aber auch ein wundervolle Mensch so ehrlich und aufrichtig,und wie er mit seiner Krankheit umging, einfach heldenhaft!

Fell in love with Orry Main in North and South long before Dirty Dancing. He was wonderful and will be remembered forever by his fans.
Me too, North & South is my fav mini series. I watched it when it first came out, I think it was 1985, it is now on YT.
Me also, first thing I ever saw him in. Dirty Dancing came after and of course I went to the theater to see him in that.
the name swayze will echo from generation to generation.

I liked Patrick in "Too Wong Foo" and "Road House", But my all-time FAVORITE flick that he did is "Black Dog" in which he co-starred with Randy Travis and Meat Loaf as long-haul truck driver Jack Crews, I just LOVED the way he drove that 379 Peterbilt!!! RIP Patrick.
He was blessed with months more than most with this type of cancer. My aunt was diagnosed in late May of 2011 and I was attending her funeral on Aug 2, 2011. She was doing well up till about a month before her death. When she started going down it went fast. I know another lady who survived pancreatic cancer and is cancer free 3 years later. She is about the same age as Patrick Swayze.
I wasn't expecting this, but I started tearing during this video. I think I really lost it at the scenes from Ghost... gee, he was just a talented warm-hearted man. Nobody deserves this, and my heart also went out to his wife. Love you, Patrick. I'm glad you're not suffering anymore in heaven at least
