During a session of Hot-Topics the ladies on The View talk about the recent death of actor Patrick Swayze. They talk about how he was a fighter of life and never gave up. During the conversation Whoop gets extremely emotional and says that if it had not been for him she would have never gotten her role in "Ghost" and she would never have won her Oscar. Barbara Walters also shows some video of her recent and last interview with Patrick Swayze.
Patrick Swayze died September 14, 2009 after a long fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Kate Gosselin guest Co-Host.
Best line from Ghost: “It’s amazing,
Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.”
Gets me every time.
me too
Same here.
Same here....and Molly....
you make me cry!!!!
😢
Here's who Patrick Swayze was. He was filming in San Antonio near my friend's apartment. She had just been discharged from the hospital after having serious back surgery and her brother carried her up three flights of stairs. He remembered that filming was going on, so he went by on the off chance he'd get to meet Patrick. They met and he said his sister was a great admirer but couldn't meet with him because of her surgery. Patrick asked for the address and permission to come see her. Her brother was touched by the gesture but thought it was just politeness, so he didn't say anything to my friend. But an hour later, Patrick showed up with lunch and stayed an hour, visiting my friend and in her words "seemed like he knew me for years, so easy to talk to, kind and thoughtful."

Wow that's awesome!
Wow..Beautiful.
why can't evil people die instead?
I was living homeless on the streets of San Diego back in 1995. Planet Hollywood was opening and I was walking through and got a few blocks away from that when I saw Woopie in her limo with the moon roof open. As soon as I saw her I smiled, she saw me smiling and stood up and waved to me, noone else around. Ment the world to me because many ignore the homeless. Thx Woopie.
You fuckin bum stop lyin! She wouldn't wave to you or give you 10 cents.
I HAVE 26 YEARS IN THE PSYCHOLOGY FIELD.
She would smile and wave because she understands discrimination more than others.
Aww, that was beautiful :)
BRUCE LEE Bullshit! Your "profession" is one of the world's biggest scams...

Sounds like someone needs therapy .
Why do you think Whoopie smiled I would like to hear your theory ?
The ending of Ghost made me cry like a little kid. Especially, with the beam of light representing the after life and the very high violins sound. It just tore me apart in such an uncontrollable way. I will never ever forget that movie.
I’ve seen that movie at least 15 times. I’m British -so stiff upper lip and all that. And I STILL cry at the end of that movie. RIP Patrick Swayze.
Sweet
Just finished it; couldn't breathe. Cried eyes out.
@@screenwriterabdullahh.erak2778 Yup.
Rest in peace. Whoopi truly loved him. They had a good friendship.
You can tell the love in friendship was real. I miss Patrick Swayze, god rest his soul.
Everybody knows how Patrick fought tooth and nail for Whoopi to be in Ghost bc the producers originally didn't want her.
He threatened to quit the picture unless Whoopi was hired.
I hate giving good people bad news, but I like giving good news to good people. The real cure that the corrupt FDA will never approve of is Cl°2.

Patrick and Whoopi were wonderful actors in ghost. Patrick and Whoopi had a wonderful friendship
that was very touching to see how much Whoopi loved him
She still loves him. One never stops loving someone, even after death.
JoAndra Van Dowall true.
Mark Marsh Thank you.
I only wish Jennifer Grey was there to help give testimony to how great he was...I felt the others didn't really appreciate him as much.
Unfortunately, some people just aren't as open with their feelings of loss as others. And, yes, some don't have as much appreciation as Whoopi has shown. RIP, Patrick!
Whoopi was outstanding in Ghost. I just loved the scene she showed as well as the 'hand over the check' to the nuns scene. As much as she enjoyed working with Patrick, I am sure that he enjoyed working with Whoopi every bit as much. What a privilege for them both. Patrick will be missed as an actor but also as a very good human being.
I miss him too! he was a great actor and great guy! now, we lost Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall... Hollywood is in great decadence... the best are dying!
Maxine0001 l
"I KNOW you don't think I'm gonna give this check to a bunch of nuns! What are they gonna do with it? They can't buy underwear or nothing!"
Absolute classic!
+Maxine0001 Patrick didn't want to be in ghost without Whoopi playing Oda Mae. Especially the i will line with the nuns

"Molly! You in danger girl!"My toddler daughter loved to repeat that line when I had the DVD of Ghost. Lol. Patrick Swayze seemed like a really good dude

That’s precious she’s so precious
I can't believe It's been 10 years since we lost this amazing actor 😭
And now 14 years
Patrick Swayze was truly one of a kind. There will never be another actor like him. He was a genuine human beginning who love what he did and loved life. I really do believe he lived it to the fullest. The last scene in the movie Ghost never really hit me until I watched The View that day. Every time I've watched that movie since then, I cry every time at that scene. I miss him.
They don't make them like him anymore 😪
Loved Patrick and his movies ❤
Whoopi made me cry. She was all chocked up at the end. Patrick was a great person& a great actor! I loved him in road house. He be truly missed!
Watch her try to speak about the death of Mike Nichols.
Who's Mike Nichols?
T Davis The man who gave her the start in the business. He saw her one woman show and took it to Broadway.
jonesing82 Oh wow, ok. Thanks!
Bill Aliff Damn! lol!
The chemistry between Patrick & Whoopi in Ghost really made the movie that much more iconic & memorable, truly one of a kind!
People love Whoopi.
People hate her.
Her views divide people easily.
But never ever once did I question her love of her friends.
Patrick, Michael, Robin, Joan, Mr. Nochols.......she loved them so much. Always spoke so well, and so passionately about her friends. She never once took any credit from them. Patrick was her Oscar. Robin and Billy were her stand up. Joan was a model in the industry. Mr. Nichols brought her to the worlds attention.
And here, Barbara did constantly interrupt her. And that was so careless. For Barbara it was a interview you know. For Whoopi it was so very personally striking at the heart.
bahamutskingdom thank you I was thinking the same thing just that you summed it up so well,I have to concur,I remember the interview she give about Patrick not wanting to act in ghost without her,I think everyone has a negative side in them including myself and it but all the negativity against whoopie was depressing to hear.come on why is it some people can't remember or acknowledge the good part of a person.Ty for having an open mind...🙏👏
She is a lover of love. Regardless of sides. She's impartial and such a hippie. I Love her🤞😍
White women always feel entitled to interrupt when someone of color is talking....Barbara Walters can have several seats....She shifted the the focus from the passing of an incredible human being to "her interview." Tacky and tasteless
Why do Whoopie's views decide easily?? How?? She's a wise woman, in my opinion pretty brilliant and she has empathy, courage and passion. Never have I heard her say anything divisive! Yes, she hates Trump with a passion, has for years. But she is an honest soul. I've always respected her deeply, as well as her love and loyalty to her friends.
@@priyakhan8968 ty as well. Every time I watch her in something especially, she cracks me up. It's like she doesn't go by a script but just tells it like it is. Like she isn't remembering a bunch of lines, it's like she's just being her normal self. She is a comedian, she can grieve over a special friend, or she cake make you crack up laughing
She has her own unique style.
I have tears running down my face, even now it's hard to believe he's gone..... But never will be forgotten 😢
I met Patrick in December 1989 in Washington, D.C.. He was such a gentleman!
Ever since his death I can't watch the movie Ghost without bawling my eyes out. Damn, I miss him.
I haven't seen the film in several years, but I'd probably have that reaction nowadays too. I was nine when it first came out, and I remember crying at the thought of people I loved no longer being around.
Life of a Bibliophile oh gees come on already. "Smh "
They played that movie for several days after he died. I forgot what network it was. For some reason it was the only thing I would watch of him without crying for years. My actual favorite Patrick role was when he played Orry Main in North and South. He loved that role because his dad died just before filming and he felt like it would have made his dad proud to see him in it. It is my favorite mini-series and I still don't know if I can get through it. Never was touched by any other actor the way I was by him. As for Whoopi and the View, it is sad to see how the women on that show have desecrated themselves over the years. Whoopi has particularly not acted the best. I hope she remembers the lesson Patrick taught her be getting her the role on Ghost and changes her own attitude on things.
Get a friggin grip.
Cass why don’t you get some friggin humanity
When Whoopi says "Let's hope that Ghost was right" made me tear up.
I can't believe Barbara Walters would interrupt Patrick's moment for Kate Gosselin!! Are you kidding me??
fuck Kate.
20 ft pole
I loved the whole tribute, especially Whoopi's beautiful, heartfelt sentiments. But I was one of the few who also appreciated Kate's comments, because--while Whoopi and Barbara knew him personally--Kate represented all of us girls who watched him on our TV screens as teens and fell head over heels:)
Barbara Walters is a fuck-o. I discredit her journalistic integrity when she was incredibly rude and crass towards John Edward. Journalists are supposed to be unbias and in the middle of an argument, not for or the other.
Oh yeah Barbara let's stop talking about Patrick Swayze a LEGEND to introduce Kate Gosselin a NOBODY pretty much, nice.
That Ghost scene hits me right in the feels EVERY TIME! "I'll be here or I won't" didn't help either Patrick!
R.I.P Patrick and blessings to his wife and whoopi. so sad
+Kwan Holloway Whoopi is a liberal trashbag! People like her are the reason why this nations' TRUE! principles must be saved.
This is not the ideal place to express your political feelings about Whoopi. Hope you understand why people are angry at your statement.
I dont care about the ideal place. I dont care if ANYONE! is upset with me. She's a trashbag. Are you upset with me? Good! If people like you had your way, legislation would be passed to not say what's on your mind in the "ideal place". Too bad, sport. :)
Exactly and that was the point!
blueribenaberry who even says THAT what YOU said? The whole point is love is all we take. So can't we just spread love not hate? From either side we're on?
Patrick was such a great actor and a class act. R.I.P.!
Brody was an amazing role
@First Last Wow 😲 didn't know that! Will research it. Thx 🙏🏽...
In my opinion, she should have shown the clip of him irritating her singing "I'm Henry VIII, I Am". One of the funniest parts.
***** That was good too. Or the part in the bank, or the part where she donated the check or the part... Fuck it it's impossible to decide. Show the whole fucking movie.
***** You are so right!!!!! One of the best movies. Rest in Peace Patrick Swayze
*****
Haven't you seen Red Dawn?
*****
Red Dawn was a really horrible movie about WWIII. The plot is that the Soviets invade the US. A bunch of high school kids, including Patrick escape into the mountains and become gorilla fighters.
I mentioned Red Dawn as a joke because it was so bad.
Incredibly they remade Red Dawn and the remake wasn't much better.
*****
Well Red Dawn is the correct answer to What was the first movie Patrick Swazye and Jennifer Grey were in together. It is NOT Dirty Dancing.
I'm watching Ghost now...and I'm glad for his movies. We miss you!
+vidhead85 ....Ditto.
+vidhead85 Yep, it just came on Oxygen Station ...it hit a nerve. My grandmother who is gone would watch Road House over and over . ( she was a toughy )
Patrick Swayze and John Ritter were the only two celebs whose death really got me. Idk how many times I watched Dirty dancing as a kid.
Me too. You saw what I saw in them. Every time their names come up I choke and get a knot in my chest. It's unexplainable.
I know how you feel. I still tear up at the death of Robin Williams.
@@ddivincenzo1194 Robin Williams totally crushed me. Beyond heartbroken 😭
I agree with both men hitting me hard aswell, but I'll add one more that hit me hard. Paul Walker. A great guy in real life and died a horrible death.
All of the actors/comedians mentioned in the replies to this comment were gone way too soon. WAY too soon.
that was a nice tribute whoopi that was hard holding back your tears god bless you he really was a one of a kind and we all miss him so much
I lost my Dad 6 months ago and fought ... this was very good for me to see. I hope Patrick saw Dad and helped him through the way. Thank Tou for the video
Whoopi Goldberg's tribute was genuine and heartfelt. Barbara Walters interrupting her was so rude and uncalled for. Barbara could have cared less about Whoopi Goldberg's reaction to her close friend passing. Thank you would be Goldberg for your words. R.I.P. Patrick Swayze.
* Thank You Whoopi Goldberg for your words.
BeNice ... I think she was just helping her because she thought she was gonna break down... I don't think her intention was to be rude....
BeNice yep
+BeNice Walters is a piece of shit. Didn't she ask Patrick "how long do you think you'll live?"
+BC M joke
Patrick Swayze is one my most favorite actors. "Ghost" is one of my favorite movies. RIP Patrick Swayze. You are missed.
Wow, she loved Patrick. He was and remains one of the best leading men. We miss him so much
Coolest of the OUTSIDERS. POINT BREAK made me want to rob banks. Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves were the coolest guys in Hollywood in the 80's. ROADHOUSE would have been lousy with anyone else. DIRTY DANCING was best chick flick ever. Thanks for the great movies! ... R.I.P
You can hear in Whoopi’s voice at the end of the video how much she is going to miss Patrick. She’s trying everything she can to not break down and cry. One of those times where your voice drops in range and gets really scratchy. She held it together. RIP Patrick Swayze.
He was one of the true greats on and off the stage. The man had it all, but life can be taken from us in a blink of an eye. I nearly lost mine to cancer but here I am in tears over the loss of this man. Always tell the people you love just that, everyday because you never know if it will be your last or there's.
Lovely words . Patrick was a sad loss . I'm glad you are better after your own battles ♥️
Patrick Swayze, RIP, you are now an angel in heaven with the rest of the angels. I hope the movie, "GHOST" IS right.

I think we all hope that the movie has a bit of truth to it I hope to see my love ones that I have lost
@@bryanwatt3943 We'll find out one day. It's a lovely thought.
Poor Whoopi trying her hardest to keep it together and Barbara Walters
constantly interrupts her. Whoopi should have cloncked her over the head with a very heavy shoe! RIP Patrick. A beautiful soul taken far too soon xx
Good deeds alone won't save us. We must be born again.
*IT IS RIGHT* !
*NEVER LOSE FAITH*
Patrick Swayze has always been one of my favourite actors and when the news broke of his passing it was extremely sad…. I do remember seeing this show and how broken Whoopi Goldberg was on that day….. Friendship lasts forever and beyond the grave…… REST IN PEACE PATRICK THANKS FOR THE AWESOME MEMORIES
I PRAY THEY ARE ALSO.
Credit to Whoopie. Every interview i've seen where "Ghist" is mentioned, she credits him for her Oscar. Nobody gets where they are without others believing in them. 👏🏾👏🏾

There can be 100 people in a room and 99 of them don’t believe in you but all it takes is one and it just changes your whole life.

To this day I cry inside on the death of Patrick swayze. He was amazing and this tribute is beautiful
Watching this breaks my heart all over again. God Bless you and keep you, Patrick. You made so many of us so very happy. You were a very gifted person.
I've never seen the final interview Patrick Swayze ever did until I watched this video. I can't believe how thin he looks there. Even though I hate that cancer took him from us, I'm at least relieved to know that Patrick is no longer in pain and that he's finally at peace. RIP Patrick.
Whoopi has a lot of class there. There is nothing like giving credit where credit it due.
I wish that Patrick were here. I really miss him.
I agree. The only reason I watch this program is due to her.

This made me cry!!! He loved Whoopi a lot and it showed.I remember her winning the Oscar. What wonderful moment.
What a beautiful tribute, Whoppi so emotional so loyal to her true friends. Whoppi you are the best Patrick rest in peace.
she was married to THREE whiteman and has mentioned in an interview she DIDN'T LOVE any of them, she is an actress!!!!!

its dec 2018, and why am i tearing up on this, love the movie ghost, whoopie and especially my favorite patrick swayze, rip
i cant believe he passed away he was a wonderful actor he will be missed he was so wonderful in ghost and dirty dancing
that was such a moving moment that Whoopi expressed, and a beautiful way to farewell an old friend. Too bad it was soured by Barbara's need to shoehorn her need to be the bigwig in the group.
I know
Nobody cared what the lady on the middle had to say.
I've also always loved that final scene in 'Ghost". Myself, and my mom went to see it the same year my dad, her huband died. When we heard, and saw that we both cried, we were thinking of him.
He was an amazing actor...and I hear he was even better as a person in real life. R.I.P. Patrick.
Patrick died exactly 2 weeks to the day after my Whipple surgery, which I had due to a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I was completely inconsolable when I heard. 12 years later, I still think of him.
I hope you're doing well. 💓
After Patrick passed, I haven't been able to watch "Ghost." I get too emotionally attached. I'm okay with watching him in 11:14, not a problem. RIP, Mr. Swayze.
I hope to have his witt and integrity when Im facing my own mortality..Patrick was the definition of a real man...Rest in peace Mr Swayze.

Very touching. I lost my Mom this year to brain cancer, and you never think it's gonna happen, up until the last minute. You always have some hope that they'll recover, even when the doctors say otherwise. It's a really heartbreaking experience to have, you feel so disappointed in everything. The moment you get the news it's like a huge sword has cut through your whole being. And you don't get over it.

Why do you care for mentioning gay men?? Bothers me.
Homosexual, heterosexual, I love it and I certainly dont have to be gay to feel this way.
So it's never okay for men to dance sexually or any other way?? If that's the case then I see why women sometimes fake organisms. What do women get off on men that are not being sexual or hot to look at?
