- Lisa Niemi, wife of the late actor Patrick Swayze, tells CNN's Larry King that Swayze said "I'm a dead man" after learning he had pancreatic cancer. Niemi and Swayze's brother, Donny, talk about the book about the actor's last days.
Much time has passed since this interview, and at the end of the day it has been Donny who has done the most to keep Patrick's legacy alive. Lisa moved on - auctioning off the ranch Patrick loved with all of his heart, along with all of his possessions - she even sold his beautiful white Arab stallion, having settling into a new relationship, and tying the knot just 4 years after Patrick's tragic death. I suppose we all grieve in our own ways....But I know for certain that if my husband has to leave before I do, I would quickly follow from a broken heart! And I couldn't bear to part with the things that he loved .. I wouldn't want to "move on". But I guess we're all different.

Such a strong-spirited, positive man, determined as he put it to ''kick the cancer's arse'', responding when asked by Barbara Walters how he approached the disease. I have just watched Ghost on the television over here in the UK, and although I am a 6'2", burly bloke, I still crumble at the end of the film. You were a great actor, who entertained and still entertains with your movies. You're wife is a credit to you, as it appears you were to her, and here in the UK, you will be sorely missed, as throughout the world I imagine. Bless you Patrick.

I just watch the movie called the Tracker and I saw Don for the first time; I didn't know Patrick had a brother that resembles him so much. I can imagine it is hard for his wife to look at him, now that he is gone. He was one of my favorite actor; i liked the way he walked, talked, and his gestures. He will be remembered forever, by his fans and his loving wife; she was such a lucky and blessed lady, to have had such a great guy. Rest in peace my dear Patrick Swayze, you gave many of us great joy on the screen. I wished i could had the opportunity, to shake your hand.

I have a blessed marriage like Lisa and Patrick, we have been married over 30 years our love for each other is so deep if my husband died before me I won't ever marry again, my life won't be the same but i will move on and be happy, bye Patrick see you in the next life R.I.P
My husband got cancer and we were shocked when they told us. In 35 years of marriage, we had been through so much, and came out stronger with every battle no matter what it was. I'm talking tough times through getting busted in the 70s out in California for drugs and sent to prison, through steel mill strikes back home in PA, to relocating south in the 80s with our last $100.00 to find work, through his juvenile diabetes, my head on collision and all my injuries.. just as we are living the good life from all our hard work and the kids are grown and gone. Enjoying the last house we had built, getting back on a Harley after years ago, since the chopper we built together in 1972... He was strong and healthy, I was in the best physical shape ever.. Cancer came. Every day it was like waking up to a battle we we're going to fight and come out stronger than ever. Tried everything you could imagine to send it packing. When I finally realized, this is not going to be a win, was when we watched THE PASSION OF CHRIST. I watched as Jesus struggled carrying the cross, falling down, being whipped, and Mary, His Mother was going along trying to see her Son over the crowds head, trying to see, and I realized, Mary could not change Her Son's course. There was nothing she could do, it was His Cross, He and He alone, had to carry it. Then I realized, this is my loves cross. I've tried everything, I've knelt and cried and pleaded, prayed and there was nothing more I could do. It was his cross to bare. I didn't want to let go, but I knew I had to. And it wasn't easy at all. I couldn't fix this. I could fix alot for my husband and children, but I couldn't fix this. And it was a long road after. How long I had been part of this "couple". I didn't know where I belonged. Since I turned 16 I had been with this man. Even though he came many times, the babies always said, I SEE GRANDPA, GRANDMA, GRANDPAS HERE! I dismissed it. He was showing them that he was happy and young and healthy, doing cartwheels even. The youngest grandson at 18 months old would tell us that his Binky's were floating around in his room at night.
Shame on you Lisa if you left (walked away) from Patrick in the final stages of his life, leaving his brother Donnie to take care of him. Remember, you reap what you sow. If you abandoned your sick and dying husband, your day is coming. RIP Patrick. Gone too soon. Forever missed.

Nicole...I think I would be the opposite, I would keep him closer then ever. I lost my brother recently at 57 after a 34 month battle and I look and act just like him (even though I’m female) and my sister in law wants me to be with her as much as possible and I have spent alot of time with her. Its difficult because I live in Ontario Canada and she lives in California so its a long expensive hike. In the 34 months prior to my brothers passing I was there every 3 months and Mom was there the other times!💔 Its just not fair that a parent should ever have to bury their children, just not fair😢😢😢R.I.P Dear Kevin & R.I.P Dear Patrick...my big 6’4 brother was also a dancer in his younger years😘

Jane. I am glad that I am not the only one. She does look to happy to have lost a husband of over 30 years. See you can tell she is the head of their relationship. Pushing him to wrote a book. When he had Cancer. I. Sorry to be the bad person. Yet again a dying Actors last memoirs. Sells a lot of books. Then was a lot of fans who would buy the book. I know I did. I also look at people in love. The smiles are seen in the eyes. In all the photos of theirs. She looks great. Always smiling yet for him it is total happiness. Yet for Lisa it is just that a Smile. Never seems to be a true 100% happy smile. I can say she did do a awesome job. Studying his type of Cancer. You can tell because it is stated many times. How the Doctors and Nurses wanted copies of her spread sheets. I give it to her she is not just a dumb blonde. I just sometimes as I was reading felt ok we get it. Great job. It broke my heart when he and Donnie were in the plane flying and Patrick was bleeding yet he did ‘t want to upset his wife. I do not think she would have been much more than a ok Dancer or an Actress on a Soup Opera. She was in her mid 20’s a very Beautiful Woman. Yet as I. Modeling she would have been too,short and not built the correct way. Yes it is sad. You have to look like the walking dead and weigh 80lbs. She had a very womanly shape except for being flat chested. Which she fixed. How many women get to travel the World,have their own Planes. Raise Arabian horses. Build there dream home. So you can do your own short films. She did write the Movie One Last Dance. It was a decent movie. You got to see her temper. Patrick Swayze was a beautiful energetic talented soul , but he was still an ordinary man with the same ordinary problems . This is a very special relationship and I can appreciate that Lisa would not want to bring a child into the world while striving with a partner dealing with alcohol addiction

Patrick was a beautiful loving caring romantic strong man who had amazing talent and drive and I miss him. He did not deserve to die like that he was so gentle and he deserved a peacefully death. Cancer is evil it test every limit you have it can take its tool of the body and I remember a interview with Patrick and Lisa and Patrick wanted Lisa to move on be happy and she is a strong women and that's why Patrick loved her cause she had a back bone and he was the softy. I hope he is in peace flying high dancing on the Star's having the time of his life.

People are talking about Patrick swayze's wife Lisa, looking happy. Firstly we never truly know how a person truly feels on the inside. We can smile & look normal but we don't always tell others that behind the smile is utter devastation on the inside. Plus as we all know Patrick died of pancreatic cancer and through all that fight Patrick also was sharing his story to never give up & fight, god knows how many people suffering the same cancer did he give strength and hope to even if they knew that it was a long shot. I'm sure behind everything Patrick has given to causes to help stand up to / fight cancer. Patrick & Lisa were married for a very long time and I'm sure they have had good & bad times over the years, if he were still here I'm sure him & Lisa would still be together but Sadly he's no longer here. Nobody should be horrible about Lisa moving on or trying to or being happy, she stood by her husband till the end. I'm sure that Patrick would not have wanted her to stop living once he was gone, you can go forward when ever you are ready to (depends on the person) but it doesn't mean that Lisa no longer loves or mourns for Patrick. Your life can go forward but you can still love people who are no longer with us just as you did when they were here. Please don't judge anyone, doesn't matter if they are famous or not, try have some empathy and understanding for fellow human beings.

She abused him and the last 2 weeks of his life, he was kept prisoner in his home. His brother could not even come as she kept Patrick secluded by using his illness so to say don’t judge when this truth comes forth from not only the maid of 30 years but others close to them as well, is a joke. I will be first one to say she will reap what she sows and I sense a happiness and laughter when talking about the daily struggles that is not normal and is not right. For someone to abuse their husband years even prior to his death is NOT love.

How she managed that I will never know as you have to be 'compos mentos' and Patrick definitely wasn't 2 weeks prior to his death! ... Also Patrick wanted the Ranch to stay in the family and even his ashes were scattered there, yet she sold it! ... Also she refused to take his name when they married which upset him somewhat, but she took it when he died! ... She is a complete control freak and a gold digger!

Lisa is a incredibly strong and inspiring woman. Patrick's death is a terrible loss for all the humanity, but I can only imagine what kind of pain his family felt when he passed away. They are all amazing and strong people and I wish them all the best from the bottom of my heart ♥️.
It like what Patrick says in ghost it amazing molly the love inside you take it with you that has to be the truest words spoken about death because you can’t take anything else apart from love with you when you pass on to the next life

How is Lisa Swayze laughing about Patrick’s death two months after he passed?
People do it sometimes out of nerves and sadness. My dad and I were with my mom, holding her hand as she died. She had been in a drug induced coma for 8 days, thank heavens, at a hospice facility after a 21 year battle with Parkinson’s disease. We kept telling her it was ok to go, but she just kept hanging on. Finally I leaned over and said, don’t worry mom, I’ll take good care of Cody, our dog. Mom took one more breath after I said that and then she was gone. Dad and I looked at each other and said, well, we know who her favorite was in the family, the dog! We burst out laughing! Even the nurses started laughing with us! It was a great passing for a beautiful woman! Laughter is so healing! Almost 3 years later we laugh when we talk about it! So please don’t judge Lisa. She’s doing nothing wrong.

i on the other hand think they love each other so much, and that not everyone grieves the same way, i believe that making and effort to be strong is healthier than cry all the time . My father has a pancreatic tumor, and i try to stay strong smiling , and doing my everyday routine yhat doesn´t mean that i don´t feel sad or worried at times...

Even though 33 years is a long time, your partner would want you to go on., you carry a piece of them in your heart always which no other person can enter, but that's it. You have to carry on. Yes, it was an amazing love, yes they were blessed with one another, but how do you dance without a partner? In this waltz of life? Hmmmmm? Some people just don't do well dancing alone. Who are we to judge? I admire her and hope if anything that awful happened to my husband, I'd have the strength she had in lifting him up and staying positive being the light in his darkest hours..
Wonder if Patrick tested for the BRCA gene. Sister beat pancreatic cancer,it was ovarian and spread there. I had ovarian cancer in 2012.
+kathleen Farmer The thing is, it was ovarian cancer, that spread to the liver, but it was still ovarian cancer, so It would be treated as ovarian cancer. Pancreatic Cancer is totally different. There are I understand at least two kinds of Pancreatic Cancer. One is primary pancreatic cancer, which starts in the Pancreas and the other is Cancer that starts in the insulin ducts, or something like that. The first cancer is the deadlier form, according to what I have heard.
