    My mother belongs to Sirsi...all my childhood memories came out watching this video...todevu tastes amazing. And it is not heavy to digest as compared to another sweet like laddu, gulab jamun

      Trust me, you are going to love the taste for sure. If you are by any chance in Bengaluru, try asking if they can procure a pack or so from the Havyaka lunch homes. There are few around Girinagara. Try your luck!

    ಈ ತೊಡೆದೇವು ನನ್ನ ಅವಲೋಕನದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳವರೆಗೂ ಕೂಡ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯ ಸ್ಮೆಲ್ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಉಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ.., ಅಂದರೆ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ತಿನ್ನಬಹುದಾದ ಸಿಹಿ ತಿಂಡಿ👌👍

    When we were young we use to get sweets made of jaggery or sugar maximum 20/25 days in a year. Those days are heaven for us. Now childrens have sweets and any type of food almost daily. And no value for it also. The above sweet is very traditional. Very nice.

    Very interesting recipe. This instantly reminds me of a similar North Karnataka recipe called 'mandige'. Very famous in Belgaum. Mandige is prepared using wheat flour or maida, chiroti rava, sugar and ghee and is roasted on upside down mud pot. Mandige is a special tradirional sweet served in marriages, munji functions. It is crushed and eaten with ghee and milk.

      @@drsudhir25 Try finding any Havyaka lunch homes. There are few around Girinagara. If they don't sell it there, they might help you procure it from Sirsi. And if can get it and don't like it with ghee, people also eat it with cold milk. I prefer eating with milk rather than ghee so that I can eat more 😬

    Todedevu is very rare even in Sirsi now. we have to buy it in store or have to order it from someone who prepares, the process of making is bit difficult and now a days people not showing interest to prepare it.. Its delicious when we dip it in milk and have. Thanks for showing our traditional food. 😊

      U can also soak it in milk ( instead of ghee) & eat, It gives another taste! Earlier every Havyak house in Malnad region used to make it during Alemane season. But today it has become a rare thing! Gone are the golden days!

    ಇದು ಮಾರ್ಕೆಟ್ ನಲ್ಲೂ ಸಿಗುವಂತಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾವೂ ಸವಿದು ನೋಡಬಹುದಿತ್ತು.

    This reminds me of POOTHA REKULU from west and east Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh. Almost same preparation.

    Similar sweet is made in Andra but it stuffed with jaggery or sugar powder. Here they mixed the jaggery alongwith the rice batter.
    Nice to know that these sweets are made in Karnataka also. 👍
