    I'm a music teacher, and I'm always encouraging my students (and myself) to make music and write songs for nobody but themselves. My classical training has given me so many wonderful aspects of my identity as a singer, composer, and arranger, but I've struggled to translate some of those theoretical bits and bobs into a song-writing process that's accessible for everyone. You are my new favourite resource for songwriting. Love the clear explanations, the natural process that unfolds, and the vulnerability you encourage in just messing around and embracing the content. Honestly, cannot wait to explore your channel more. You're on to something, man. Thanks for sharing! X

      Question for the music teacher in you, 7:20 he talks about categories of melodies, or shapes and pathways of melodies. Which part of learning music theory would help with creating and arranging these melodies? Is it called arrangement? Total newbie question 😅

    Yes, I'd agree that generally the verses contain more detail and the chorus is more of that broad "sum-up." They both further and tell the story in different ways, just like a bridge or pre chorus. All these parts help convey the story lyrically and musically. Fun stuff! What does sum up mean for music Nathan?

    • @bedroommusicproducer
      @bedroommusicproducer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me, I'll use the phrase "sum-up" when referring to one of the jobs the chorus has. Generally, the chorus quite literally "sums up" the feeling, concept and point of the whole song.

    • @Songwritersbehindthecurtain
      @Songwritersbehindthecurtain 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bedroommusicproducer what Jonathan Byrd said about sum up was that Sum up means when you say everything again in a short way. Like at the end of Star Wars, you could sum up by saying, “it was a struggle but the Jedi won.”

    EASY WAY FOR ME--
    step one- read some fiction that has a character who writes songs in it OR search up the lyrics to a song that you haven't heard before
    step two- read the lyrics included. your brain will often come up with a melody to fit it
    step three- use the melody and change the lyrics, because technically it came from your head so its an original melody
    edit- obviously use a different format for the lyrics or it will seem as though you copied

No- because I'm not actively thinking about singing real words and forming sentences... but yes- because I'm singing things that SOUND like they could be words, through phonetics, syllables, tonality, etc. So during the process, sometimes a concrete word or phrase will in fact slip out! which part of chord that on loop, is it chorus or verse when singing the gibberish?

    • @bedroommusicproducer
      @bedroommusicproducer  ปีที่แล้ว

      What's up TRAWAAZ! I was singing the gibberish over an initial vibe that I came up with (music elements + rhythm elements) in order to "capture" as many vocal melodies as possible. Some might be used for verses, some for choruses, bridges, etc. So, the music you heard on loop wasn't structured into verses & choruses yet. But I have a hunch I'll use what was on loop as the main music and drums for the verses! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

      @@bedroommusicproducer ah cool! thanks nathan! yeah because 1. Dave Growl said, "when make music start from the Chorus" haha so I thought maybe its the Chorus 2. It's cool if it looping on Verse and then going forward. Your Tutorial and method rocks man! thanks!

      In this tutorial I used "Antares Auto-Tune." It WILL work in Reaper, but it is not free. I believe Reaper comes with its own Auto-Tune plugin though... called ReaTune? Have you messed with that? 👊🏻

    The verse has more story details but the chorus has a very short abstract version of the story and also has very less details of the story and also the chorus tells gives you the story in a few words without details while verse does has details of the story true?

    • @bedroommusicproducer
      @bedroommusicproducer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I'd agree that generally the verses contain more detail and the chorus is more of that broad "sum-up." They both further and tell the story in different ways, just like a bridge or pre chorus. All these parts help convey the story lyrically and musically. Fun stuff!

      This is a real thing! Something that helped me was coming up with melody ideas on the instrument I’m playing before trying to come up with them with my voice… play with your instrument if that feels more natural to discover the notes your voice could then sing off of 🤘🏻🤘🏻

    7:29 regarding the timestamp portion of video, you're singing gibberish and labeling them in your head as different patterns. Does anybody know what part of music theory this actually is? And which part of learning music theory will help with finding, labeling and arranging vocal melodies?
