I am SO grateful for this series! I'm a long-time performer but have done virtually nothing when it comes to recording/writing/DAWs etc., and personally I've found that the really tough part of getting into it is not so much learning the DAW itself (though that is also tough!) as it is understanding the thought process you need to bring to constructing a song. Your teaching really makes that clear, like I especially appreciate the reminders to not get bogged down in minutiae while you're framing things out. That had really been tripping me up in trying to get a song off the ground, and I didn't even realize it until I saw your approach here. Thanks for this!!

I like the way you approach helping the untrained. I have a lot of one minute songs that loop but want to make whole songs. You are correct about critiquing yourself. I started losing confidence when I was coming up with the melody and let them know this is a rough draft. You would have thought I said I’m gonna put it on a cd . Constructive criticism is one thing but a kill joy is not what I was looking for. I write poems like in the book of Psalms or lyrics. I know I can do it . Thanks you’re really great at what you do

Depending on your level nothing new here. But the moment he starts singing and just this fella's demeanour and joy for life as he works makes this not only worth watching but also a happy refresher for those of use who have perhaps lost a little joy in making stuff. What I do smt is the Frankenstein chop chop thing to come up with the vocal line that I like. Then I try to sing it in one take. Thanks for your work by the way, it helps a lot 🫡 Keep going !
