I can't describe how much I love that rendition of Bold As Love. Just unbelievable. It's perfect, and of course it's played on my favourite style of strat, Fiesta Red with a dark rosewood board.
I’m surprised none of your guitars filed assault charges against you. You are one of the most aggressive players that I have ever seen. I love it. Please keep the Sonic assaults coming. 🙏🙏🙏✌️✌️
I've said it before and I'll say it again...your playing is astonishing! There are few guitarists that can illicit an emotional response for me but you sir are firmly in that category. Keep up the great work Chris!!
Exquisite presentation and performance by this supremely talented young guitarist - not forgetting his wonderfully clean-cut image. No need for hideous skull and crossbones-type images so often sported by mediocre musicians.
Wow, Gretch, Filter'tron... I don't have any of those but just realised I have a gap in tonality, well quite a few to be honest. Came to the gig in Chester and was truly amazed. Not since listening to SRV at Reading in 1983 have I been hooked on a guitar sound and ultimately Chris Buck. I haven't been blown away by anybody even a bit bluesy or soulful since SRV passed, there seems to be lots of imitators... I cannot give Joe Bonamassa the time of day even though he is an amazing player, he does nothing for me. Much the same with Phile Sayce although I am coming round to actually appreciating and listening, I knnow I am the loser there. Seeing you live showed me that rock or blues or soul guitar isn't a thing of thre past, it is alive. You are breathing life into guitar for the now and hopefully the next who will be inspired by your fire. You are a great man and the world needs great men.
That opening solo on the Tele wide range pups just ripped. As many great ones of yours as I've heard, I have never heard anything quite as impressive. There is a Chris Buck style coming through that's easily as recognisable as say a Hendrix or Gilmour or SRV. It's in all those grace notes, combination bends, double stops, pinch and tap harmonics, all thrown together in that "how the hell is he doing that?" way, and so casually done it looks easy (it isn't!)
P90 is my favourite. But I also have and love Gibson/DeCola dual (non-magnetized) blade minis with Ceramic and Al5 bar magnet versions, (have firebird covers but not vintage firebird design). Great run down of the history of our beloved little pickups.
Well Chris, that mournful, beautiful slow piece you played for the P90 demo has to be some of the most beautiful playing I have heard for a long time, your subtle grasp of melodic and harmonic movement is astonishing mate.
I could listen to you play for hours, as opposed to ‘shredding’ at 400 mph - which gets worn out fairly quick. Your playing is much more interesting and entertaining. Congrats!
dude!!!that intro was PURE FIRE....your control on the sonic output was Insane...i think you should approach life just like that intro..Reckless abandon..."a bow" of Respect to you!..btw i hate you, your the player i Aspire to be..Blessings to you and yours.
Awesome intro jam. You could do whatever you want with your career, but never sway anywhere near that watered-down, middle of the road, try to please everyone-but actually pleasing to no one, generic session/elevator jam. In other words, you just flat-out spontaneously rock it.
Some of his heavier jams I would 1000% want a MP3 of for my iPod. The tone he gets is insane. Make them two minutes each and be able to buy them ala carte. Make it happen Chris!
Awesome! Chris you are amazing! Absolutely perfect, your finger style flawless transition between pick and fingers. Every notes speak it self! You are a true artist! THXS👍👍👍
Damn dude. You are straight up ripping those guitars apart. Very tasty playing. Melodic, fun but not flashy, hearing those chord tones of the changes in your lines tells me you are a very studied player. Thank you for all your insightful videos. I enjoy your content and playing! Cheers!!
Besides your inspired and tasty playing, you've got a real knack for presenting interesting topics on guitar history and its development. This has been a real treat on your Channel, and I hope you do more. 😎
So, I'm a Gretsch fanatic, and I'm down the rabbit hole of Gretsch pickups. I've got a Magnetron and TV Jones classic filtertron in one. I've got one of the new Ray Butts Ful-fidelity filtertrons from TV Jones and a Dynasonic (clone) in another. I'm shopping a third to mount a pair of (clone) hi-lo'trons in. I'm interested in the differences in the single-coils in particular.
I’ve just seen you on dipped in tone Chris great stuff 👍I wish you all the best on your USA tour I know your the best now show them yanks what your all about 👌👌
@peacefulruler1 I cannot speak to the "best" as my taste may be different than yours. I strongly suggest looking up Elliot Stent on TH-cam. He does a fantastic demo of the Blue Silver Red set as well as the rainbow set. They're all amazing. I use the Blue Silver Red set in my Warmoth. I have a Korina body with a Goncalo Alves neck topped with Pau Ferro and stainless frets. The guitar is HEAVY, but sustains well thanks to the dive only Rail Tail trem by Floyd Rose. I use the Obsidian Wiring solderless Strat blender controls.
Haven't seen that 1963 Stratocaster in a while; I damn near forgot you had it! I thought when you spent all that money obtaining it and fixing all it's issues, we would have been seeing it every other episode. Good to see it again! ❤
I bought a parts mcaster with guitar fetish single coil ferrite gold foils. They sound amazing! Absolutely amazing. And then I looked them up, and found out they were less than $40 apiece, which blew my mind. They are noisy, and a bit microphonic, but they have an absolutely gorgeous, unique extended high end, that is somehow glittering, but not brittle. there is nothing like them. My favorite pick up of all is the P90, but these goldfoils are among the most unique of all, and have become another favorite.
Hey Chris I went to poke around on your personal website from the link in the description and its giving me a warning that the site is not secure. I was trying to find out where that gold top Les Paul came from that used in the p90 segment of the video. I was trying to see if it was yours personally or from another private collection. Cool Stuff! I love your content!
Great video. Monster playing and great info. One disappointment: I really wanted to hear the 4 pickup Les Paul in the thumbnail! That looks like something I would make...
Nice to see a well-researched video full of useful information packed into a tight less than 20 minutes, plus some "show then tell" playing demos. The only caveats for me were using a guitar with CC pickups and not playing jazz (just a few jazzy chords like major 9s and minor 11s would have been good) and that the offsets are sidelined into the "other" category as they often are, which is a shame because Jaguar and Jazzmaster pickups have pretty unique tones that even other Fenders can't quite replicate.
Nicely done as usual BUT, the one time that I get to hear a great player demoing a Charlie Christian pup and you play only the mid to low strings. Aaah!!
Nice video Chris, but I personally would have liked to hear the pickups up to strat cleaner , and especially the Fenders through a cleaner amp to hear the twang and the sparkle
... The Frying Pan was actually a "Hawaiian" lap/slide guitar. The original Charlie Christian pickups were RADIO ACTIVE. "Cobalt". They had to be "recharged" every couple of years. Bear in mind that this was before we knew about radiation poisoning. They were originally installed into Recording King guitars, and were the first comercially available guitar sold to the public in 1936-1940. Harry DeArmond designed the first pickups and founded, ROWE INDUSTRIES. His pickups are still used in Fenders, Gretsch, Guild, and many others and are commonly refered to as, Dynasonics/GOLD FOILS/single coil, and Filtertrons/Humbuckers. a lot of folks are mistakenly informed about Dynasonics being Humbuckers because of the 12 pole pieces. In actuality those extra "pole pieces" are height adjusters for the opposing pole pieces. Yes, you can adjust each pole piece to suit you own tastes........ROCK ON CHRIS BUCK!!!............
I can't describe how much I love that rendition of Bold As Love. Just unbelievable. It's perfect, and of course it's played on my favourite style of strat, Fiesta Red with a dark rosewood board.
No one plays us in and out like Chris Buck !! And as usual, a very interesting topic sandwiched in between.
I’m surprised none of your guitars filed assault charges against you. You are one of the most aggressive players that I have ever seen. I love it. Please keep the Sonic assaults coming. 🙏🙏🙏✌️✌️
Chris's next video should be about his stringing method. Whatever he's doing, it obviously works - even under extreme duress!
I think he actually has a lot of subtlety. Intricacy and excellence perfectly combined.
I was thinking almost that exact thing with the Tele solo! And it sounded So Good!
@@thomascroft5076 maybe not so much when he knocks the low E out if the saddle lmao
@SlavicSon Agree. I'd say 'dynamic' over "aggressive".
your '62 strat neck pickup on Bold As Love was sublime. most awaited you Tube video of the week.
5:12 Love that slow melody on those p90s.
I believe that's the one from the Paul Davids solo challenge if you want even more over that backing track!
Great video, really enjoyed the history and demos. P-90 for life for me.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...your playing is astonishing! There are few guitarists that can illicit an emotional response for me but you sir are firmly in that category. Keep up the great work Chris!!
My god can you absolutely play. What a freakin talent.
Exquisite presentation and performance by this supremely talented young guitarist - not forgetting his wonderfully clean-cut image. No need for hideous skull and crossbones-type images so often sported by mediocre musicians.
chris buck uploaded, im immediately happy.
Heavenly jams you got there. That tele, p90 and strat jam were absolutely heart melting.
Hey Chris thanks for the video! I'm a big fan of your playing. ✌️
I agree with you on the P90 pickup. I love the warm tones I can get with this pickup.
The tone, the touch, the feel everything is there. What an amazing guitarist is Chris!🙏
Wow, Gretch, Filter'tron... I don't have any of those but just realised I have a gap in tonality, well quite a few to be honest.

Your playing is just sublime . My god
What an episode 😮 thank you for the massive inspiration you're broadcasting to us 🙏👏👏
the best guitarist of our era is Chris fuckin Buck! best inspiration, its creamy, its just there!
I love P-90s. They are my favorites.
I’ve picked up a lot of P90 guitars cheap. Younger people aren’t into them is my guess.
That Tele demo was amazing! What a sound. Thanks Chris for more stellar playing.
1951 Fender Nocaster 99,795 Euro 😲 Bold As Love was sublime in your hands Chris, what a treat!
Great vid! Chris!! I am so exited that you are coming to Omaha!!!!! Hope to shake your hand!

The man has a special gift from God- very inspiring to hear/ see him in action 🎸👍🙏
Thanks for doing his Chris. Broken record time: Your playing is so amazing!🎶🎸👍
Chris Buck, This video is fantastic! I liked it a lot!
Great topic, great musical interludes for exposition, as usual
Daaayyyymmmitttt..People watch this mans Pick attacks..Learn from a Master!
That bold in love was so good, only one I’ve been able to listen to and totally love other than with jimi himself
THIS could very well be, the best pick up ''explanation'' youtube clip, that i have ever seen.
And i've seen a few.
Well done Chris.
P90 is my favourite. But I also have and love Gibson/DeCola dual (non-magnetized) blade minis with Ceramic and Al5 bar magnet versions, (have firebird covers but not vintage firebird design). Great run down of the history of our beloved little pickups.
Smokin'!!!! Your aggressive playing makes the pickups reveal their potential strengths and 'flavor' characteristics. V.I.P. episode. Thanks, C.B.😎🎸👍
Oh dude thank you for demoing the Charlie christian on a solid body!
Jesus Chris! What an intro! Should come with a health warning 😂
Yeah! Love his playing. One doesn't have to shred notes to completely kill it!
Whatever you played on the Tele was really quite amazing Chris!
Well Chris, that mournful, beautiful slow piece you played for the P90 demo has to be some of the most beautiful playing I have heard for a long time, your subtle grasp of melodic and harmonic movement is astonishing mate.

Those Revstars hold their own in estimable vintage company.
Whoa Nellie! Dat Telecaster Jam! Best Regards and Best Wishes!
Fabulous playing as usual Chris and very interesting and informative 🤘👍
I'd love to hear your thoughts about lace sensor pickups.
Well here is me wanting a second restart all over again. So many awesome looking ones in Chris' collection
Who doesn't like a bit of Chris Buck 😂
dude!!!that intro was PURE FIRE....your control on the sonic output was Insane...i think you should approach life just like that intro..Reckless abandon..."a bow" of Respect to you!..btw i hate you, your the player i Aspire to be..Blessings to you and yours.

Great video, Chris!
I know all the guitar stuff (pretty much) I come to hear the playing
That introduction, featuring cropped trousers, serves as substantial proof of the imminent arrival of spring.
Absolutely fantastic and the demonstration of pickups was pretty good too, but you are fantastic player my man excellent
nice nice job! i haevn't missed any of your vids since Paul got you to do his "thing" :-)
30 seconds in. "THIS IS GONNA BE EPIC!"
Some of his heavier jams I would 1000% want a MP3 of for my iPod. The tone he gets is insane. Make them two minutes each and be able to buy them ala carte. Make it happen Chris!
Great playing as usual.
Oh the option anxiety..... There are infinite possibilities even before the signal even leaves the guitar
Great samples. Telecaster music and knobs work blown me away
The black Revstar with single gold foil stole the show for me.
Cheers!!
Great articulation, great playing. I think Chris is my favorite guitar player of 2020s.
Thinking man's guitarist. Very good article. Looks like you have a new pad.
Besides your inspired and tasty playing, you've got a real knack for presenting interesting topics on guitar history and its development. This has been a real treat on your Channel, and I hope you do more. 😎

Another great and educational video...once again I am BEGGING for an instrumental album from Chris!
I’ve just seen you on dipped in tone Chris great stuff 👍I wish you all the best on your USA tour I know your the best now show them yanks what your all about 👌👌
Lace Sensors. The versatility is stunning, sound quality amazing, and dead silent. I do love the P90 sound, though.
Which color Lace Sensors are best for a maple fretboard Strat?
@peacefulruler1 I cannot speak to the "best" as my taste may be different than yours. I strongly suggest looking up Elliot Stent on TH-cam. Really looking forward to seeing you and Cardinal Black in Southampton next Wednesday!!
I’ve got The Guitar Pickup Book by Dave Hunter. He covers magnetic pickups very well.
Haven't seen that 1963 Stratocaster in a while; I damn near forgot you had it! I thought when you spent all that money obtaining it and fixing all it's issues, we would have been seeing it every other episode. Good to see it again! ❤
That tele solo!!! 🔥
Hearing Chris say the word
“bobbin” with his accent is the highlight of my week
Buckmaster. I think its safe to say that as a guitar player you are currently the dog's bollox. Magnificent stuff.
Hey Chris, spotted you at the Brizzle guitar show last weekend. Didn't get a chance to say hi but hope you enjoyed the show!
Excellent and informative video, been waiting for this. Thx! 🎸 👍

Over the black guard tele, i just kept thinking of the line ‘come play my game’ from the Prodigy song Breath 😂

I have been obsessed with P90 since I watched your episode on them
Nice bit of Bold As Love in there, Chris. Great video as always.
I second the idea of the sonic assaults- keep’ em coming- you can play my brother! 🙏
Nice to see a well-researched video full of useful information packed into a tight less than 20 minutes, plus some "show then tell" playing demos. Great intro - probably your 'rockiest' one
Loved the music at 5.10.
Hi Chris fantastic vid really articulate your playing is just glorious ❤☺️❤️
Great summary and very expressive examples, Gold pickups at end sounded very Robben Ford, I'm off to google what he uses!
So many sweet licks and lines in this video! ❤
Nicely done as usual BUT, the one time that I get to hear a great player demoing a Charlie Christian pup and you play only the mid to low strings. Aaah!!
Great video - I will save this link for my students.
"Gibson bucked the hum but Gretsch filtered it"! touche' Chris Buck touche,..lol....nice quote! Still love your red strat!
Jeff Beck the second Amazing as usual thanks Chris.
that fridge magnet tone of the 70s right off the green space shuttle fridge
P90 best pick-up ever.
Chris best guitarist ever
The P90 in that Les Paul is s one of the most beautiful sounds on earth!
Neodymium is another magnet material to check out for a rather unique sound.
MFDs and jumbo MFDs are also phenomenal pickups
This is AWESOME 👏!!!!
Damn Chris, you never fail to get my toe tapping!
Top notch drummer too..
Nice video Chris, but I personally would have liked to hear the pickups up to strat cleaner , and especially the Fenders through a cleaner amp to hear the twang and the sparkle

Damnit. I’d just convinced myself
I didn’t need a Tele Deluxe and that opening track has me salivating. Sounds epic.
I love your Stratocaster brother! That’s one good looking guitar… Sounds great too! I watched your video on you refurbishing it… Pretty interesting.
Outro = 🔥
