How Scottish people say 'o' in 'go'. Ö - similar to how you say the 'o' in 'go' but completely clipped short. The 'uh' sound of the 'a' in 'about' is also a similar sound. Ő - similar to how you say 'o' in 'go'. U, Ú, Ü, Ű is harder. Let's start with Ú, that's the hardest. Ú - try to say w as in 'war' really long. That way you get the vowel quality. Quantity-wise, it is long. U - similar but clipped short. Ű - very similar to how you say the 'ou' in 'you'. Ü - similar but clipped short. Prepare for a long comment. Let me first say you got most of the letters right, compliments. I have some more info which could make it easier for you. You got it right btw. If the accent is a dot then it's short if it's a stripe then it's longer. (except e é and a á, there the pronounciation also changes, not just the lenght, easy right? :D). You got the ny correct mostly, I also would say 'new' or in the name "Sonja". Or if you speak Gaelic Enya is pronounced with a similar 'ny' sound. In Hungarian language the vowels are usually a 'straight', 'open' sound. That's why it can be difficult for a native english speaker, because these sounds are not too common there (and that's why Tanbay finds it easier, or at least he can usually pronounce it even better than you, Laura) . Hungarian 'e' would be similarly pronounced as the 'a' in 'fat', or the vowels in 'bed', 'red' 'crap' etc. Then the 'é' would be a straight sound too, similar to scottish 'a' in 'mate' when pronounced with scottish accent. Not the US 'mate' that would be written probably like 'méjt' if I really had to write it in Hungarian. Hungarian 'o' is similar to the 'a' in 'war', only shorter. Or the o in 'short' or the 'o' in 'or'. The ó is the same, straight o, only held out longer. 'Ö' well ask Tanbay about that. 'Ő' is the same, only longer. 'U' is kind of difficult to explain in english. If you say 'Umlaut' then it's the same. Same as German U. Ú is same but longer (room, you, food, loo) Ü, again, ask Tanbay about that :) only short. Ű is the long one. And when we pronounce letters (consonants) separately we usually put an 'é' behind it when pronouncing it. Not 'í' (when you said Z). There are exceptions, h would be 'há', not 'hé'. Lemme write it down. So seperately we pronounce consonants with the help of these vowels: Bé, Cé, CSé, DZé, DZSé, efF, Gé, GYé, Há, Jé (almost 'yay' only without the second y), Ká, elL, LYé (j and ly are pronounced the same), emM, enN, Pé, Qú (same as 'kú' would be), erR, esS, Té, Vé, iKSZ (x), ipszilon (not 'epszilon'), Zé, ZSé. You guys really nailed most of the letters, so hats down. Really nice :) when you said oroszlán, that was nearly spot on.

And at the moment I don't know any word that could contain the 'Ő' letter. The 'Q' letter sounds like the 'C' from the Cow plus the 'O' from the dO. The 'T' is like Laura said. The 'T' from the Town plus the English 'A' letter. (in Hungarian: té) The 'Ty' is really like the T in the Tuesday word but replaced the 'U' and the 'E' with the English 'A' letter (just like T). (in Hungarian: tyé) The 'U' sounds like the O from the dO. The 'Ú' sounds like the trUE, blUE, glUE. The Ü and Ű was correct. The 'Y' should be like Tanbay said. Replace the Hungarian 'E' with the Hungarian 'I' in its beginning. The 'Z' is like the English "zet" without the 'T' and the 'E' replaced with the English 'A' (like in the Hungarian 'T' and 'Ty'). Hope I helped you. :)
i=í, o=ó, ö=ő, u=ú, ü=ű are the same, just you say it shorter or longer. But notice, that a / á and e / é are really four different sounds. "é" like the first and "e" like the second vowel in German "gehen". Our "á" is the standard use latin a, but our "a" is used for a special sound, that doesn’t exist in most languages. Maybe it’s somewhere between o and a. (It’s like the characteristic Persian vowel â: dâram, mâdar, barâdar… Sorry, it’s not possible to tell any real English or German example. That kind of examples are wrong.) The other problematic sound, that westerners unable to say correctly is the Slavic d’ that we write as "gy". Don’t worry about it, maybe this can only be learnt in little childhood. "Ly" is a carachter, that you can say not only as "J" but also as "L" "Lj", it’s depend on dialect. To the previous video: This "Te tetted…" sentence basically consists of three thing: "te" (as suffix: -t/-d) = thou = du sg/2 personal pronoun "ten(ni)" = (to) do = (zu) tun verb "-tt" (after consonant only -t) = -(e)d = -(e)t past tense suffix and also the past participleSo these elements are not special Hungarian creatures, they are much more older ones, then Indo-European, Ural-Altayic, Afro-Asiatic, etc. families. In this level nostratic languages are still one. Certainly this is one of the most ancient sentences of humanity. I think, it sounds in English very similar, something like this: Thou (you) did this do-to-do-d (simulated) deed (action), thou, the doer (maker, culprit) of do-to-do-d deeds, thou.Furthermore: Some of the "-tet"-s are not for the "deed", in this case it is used for causative mode (to do something by somebody else). The "-s" makes an adjektiv, that here we use it as a noun (tettes = the man, who have done it). After it the "-e" is the sg/3 possessive suffix (his) for high (front vowels) words. The "-d" here is the sg/2 definite-object type verbal suffix. "-k" is the plural (originally dual) suffix in Ural and Altay languages, and one "-t" is the accusative (den Apfel) case marker. Some "-e-" are just connecting vowels. You see a great deal of "e" because of the vowel harmony. That means, you have to attune the vowels in the suffixes with the vowels of the word root according to back/front and round/unrounded rules. Let’s see the other one: El-kel-káposztá-s-ít-(o)t-talan-ít-(o)tt-(á)t-(o)k "el-" is the same as German "hin-", but now it funktions as "meg-" = German "ge-" or Turkic gan-/gen-, so: this is the perfect aspect prefix, and belongs to the next "-ít" verbal part, not to the "kel"."kel" = gel-mek/kel-moq/кел-у: turkic verb for to come, to get up, to rise, the herb/germ/blossom sprout out, engender… "káposzta" = капуста: the slavic word for cabbage ("a" at the end often becomes "á" at affixations) Kel+káposzta is a kind of cabbage: Wirsingkohl. Possibly here the "kel" is not from the germ or blossom, but from the word "Kohl", and so Kohlkapusta German-Slav mix means "cabbagecabbage". Perhaps the Slavs called this way a kind of cabbage, that was grown and sold by the Germans(?) "-s" here makes an adjektiv from the noun, like water > watery"-ít" makes an active voice verb. Prepare for a long comment. Let me first say you got most of the letters right, compliments.
I have some more info which could make it easier for you.
You got it right btw. If the accent is a dot then it's short if it's a stripe then it's longer. (except e é and a á, there the pronounciation also changes, not just the lenght, easy right? :D). You got the ny correct mostly, I also would say 'new' or in the name "Sonja". Or if you speak Gaelic Enya is pronounced with a similar 'ny' sound.
In Hungarian language the vowels are usually a 'straight', 'open' sound. That's why it can be difficult for a native english speaker, because these sounds are not too common there (and that's why Tanbay finds it easier, or at least he can usually pronounce it even better than you, Laura) . Hungarian 'e' would be similarly pronounced as the 'a' in 'fat', or the vowels in 'bed', 'red' 'crap' etc.
Then the 'é' would be a straight sound too, similar to scottish 'a' in 'mate' when pronounced with scottish accent. Not the US 'mate' that would be written probably like 'méjt' if I really had to write it in Hungarian.
Hungarian 'o' is similar to the 'a' in 'war', only shorter. Or the o in 'short' or the 'o' in 'or'. The ó is the same, straight o, only held out longer.
'Ö' well ask Tanbay about that. 'Ő' is the same, only longer.
'U' is kind of difficult to explain in english. If you say 'Umlaut' then it's the same. Same as German U. Ú is same but longer (room, you, food, loo)
Ü, again, ask Tanbay about that :) only short. Ű is the long one.
And when we pronounce letters (consonants) separately we usually put an 'é' behind it when pronouncing it. Not 'í' (when you said Z). There are exceptions, h would be 'há', not 'hé'.
Lemme write it down. So seperately we pronounce consonants with the help of these vowels: Bé, Cé, CSé, DZé, DZSé, efF, Gé, GYé, Há, Jé (almost 'yay' only without the second y), Ká, elL, LYé (j and ly are pronounced the same), emM, enN, Pé, Qú (same as 'kú' would be), erR, esS, Té, Vé, iKSZ (x), ipszilon (not 'epszilon'), Zé, ZSé.
You guys really nailed most of the letters, so hats down. Really nice :) when you said oroszlán, that was nearly spot on.

The 'O' sounds like the "shOrt" or "lOng".
The 'Ó' sounds like the "gO" or "rOw".
The 'Ö' sounds like the pictUre or hEr or othEr or hUrt.
And at the moment I don't know any word that could contain the 'Ő' letter.
The 'Q' letter sounds like the 'C' from the Cow plus the 'O' from the dO.
The 'T' is like Laura said. The 'T' from the Town plus the English 'A' letter. (in Hungarian: té)
The 'Ty' is really like the T in the Tuesday word but replaced the 'U' and the 'E' with the English 'A' letter (just like T). (in Hungarian: tyé)
The 'U' sounds like the O from the dO.
The 'Ú' sounds like the trUE, blUE, glUE.
The Ü and Ű was correct.
The 'Y' should be like Tanbay said. Replace the Hungarian 'E' with the Hungarian 'I' in its beginning.
The 'Z' is like the English "zet" without the 'T' and the 'E' replaced with the English 'A' (like in the Hungarian 'T' and 'Ty').

i=í, o=ó, ö=ő, u=ú, ü=ű are the same, just you say it shorter or longer. But notice, that a / á and e / é are really four different sounds. "é" like the first and "e" like the second vowel in German "gehen". Our "á" is the standard use latin a, but our "a" is used for a special sound, that doesn’t exist in most languages. Maybe it’s somewhere between o and a. (It’s like the characteristic Persian vowel â: dâram, mâdar, barâdar… Sorry, it’s not possible to tell any real English or German example. That kind of examples are wrong.) The other problematic sound, that westerners unable to say correctly is the Slavic d’ that we write as "gy". Don’t worry about it, maybe this can only be learnt in little childhood. "Ly" is a carachter, that you can say not only as "J" but also as "L" "Lj", it’s depend on dialect.
To the previous video: This "Te tetted…" sentence basically consists of three thing:
"te" (as suffix: -t/-d) = thou = du sg/2 personal pronoun "ten(ni)" = (to) do = (zu) tun verb
"-tt" (after consonant only -t) = -(e)d = -(e)t past tense suffix and also the past participleSo these elements are not special Hungarian creatures, they are much more older ones, then Indo-European, Ural-Altayic, Afro-Asiatic, etc. families. In this level nostratic languages are still one. Certainly this is one of the most ancient sentences of humanity. I think, it sounds in English very similar, something like this:
Thou (you) did this do-to-do-d (simulated) deed (action), thou, the doer (maker, culprit) of do-to-do-d deeds, thou.Furthermore: Some of the "-tet"-s are not for the "deed", in this case it is used for causative mode (to do something by somebody else). The "-s" makes an adjektiv, that here we use it as a noun (tettes = the man, who have done it). After it the "-e" is the sg/3 possessive suffix (his) for high (front vowels) words. The "-d" here is the sg/2 definite-object type verbal suffix. "-k" is the plural (originally dual) suffix in Ural and Altay languages, and one "-t" is the accusative (den Apfel) case marker. Some "-e-" are just connecting vowels. You see a great deal of "e" because of the vowel harmony. That means, you have to attune the vowels in the suffixes with the vowels of the word root according to back/front and round/unrounded rules.
Let’s see the other one: El-kel-káposztá-s-ít-(o)t-talan-ít-(o)tt-(á)t-(o)k
"el-" is the same as German "hin-", but now it funktions as "meg-" = German "ge-" or Turkic gan-/gen-, so: this is the perfect aspect prefix, and belongs to the next "-ít" verbal part, not to the "kel"."kel" = gel-mek/kel-moq/кел-у: turkic verb for to come, to get up, to rise, the herb/germ/blossom sprout out, engender…
"káposzta" = капуста: the slavic word for cabbage ("a" at the end often becomes "á" at affixations) Kel+káposzta is a kind of cabbage: Wirsingkohl. Possibly here the "kel" is not from the germ or blossom, but from the word "Kohl", and so Kohlkapusta German-Slav mix means "cabbagecabbage". Perhaps the Slavs called this way a kind of cabbage, that was grown and sold by the Germans(?)
"-s" here makes an adjektiv from the noun, like water > watery"-ít" makes an active voice verb. (his passive voice counterpart is: -ul/-ül)
"-t" makes past participle"-talan" is a negative suffix for adjectives, like: in-, un-, non-, dis-…
"-ít" we get again a verb; "-tt" = past tense marker; "-t" = second person marker; "-k" = plural markerIn brackets: connecting vowels. (The most frequent are "á/é" and "o/e/ö")
This word is theoretically OK, but in real life it is nonsense.We have manly short words.
