  • Soooo we fought, and we fought! 😅
Watching back, I can see why things didn't feel like they were working for me.
My gestures and marks were too small. On such a long piece of paper, I should have been using bolder, more courageous motions. I finally figured it out, however, and this piece landed in the most beautiful of sceneries.
    Thanks for hanging out 🥰

Thanks gf! It's embossing powder. You stamp the adhesive stuff and then the heat gun melts and sets it ❤❤

This breaks down a bit of the mystery of Andrew Taylor's work for me. The depth! I was inspired by him last year to finally start expressing myself through art. Your work inspires me in a similar way, so thanks Bree! 💚💜💚

Thanks Tonja! It's masking fluid 😄 It's a liquid latex. It's traditionally used in watercolouring, to keep areas paint-free. So in this instance, i had some layers down, then i masked the page with the foliage patterns so that when i went over it again (it has to be once the fluid dries), it acts as a stencil/mask. Then when I'm ready to reveal, i peel it back off 😊

It's a handy little extra to have in your supplies. It smells a bit yuck, though 😅

You just made me see a painting I thought was wrong was not over, I gave up. There are a couple of those in my art room. I love mixed media and I didn’t try it, I could have used the skills I had as a different artist until I found blooms and I didn’t. They still aren’t finished until I say so. Thank you.
Once I wouldn’t have given up. If I spend two or three hours in my art room I often do not remember what I did and when I am finished I am exhausted. The next day I stop to recover but there is always a pull to go back.
I stay back and never put myself forward but I was taught art was bad. I am too old now to change, you need to be out there and your work deserves it. I loved all of the different mediums used in this one. ❤

That's so sweet of you to say Karen, thank you! And for you- it's never too late. You are your own soul-filled being, and deserve to do what brings you joy. Art is always a process, and re-visiting it is perfectly natural. Fresh eyes after a rest are an incredible tool- i often walk away and come back later, even more so when the piece isn't working for me. 🥰
