I love watching people loving Chris Cornell.
Thanks for playing that song. I do believe you dont have the right words to articulate that prrformance.
I m from Indonesia and i m his big Fans...i was in his Euphoria mourning concert in Berlin in 1999,when i was a stiden there..i was standing right in front of him...and at the end i called his name and he came to me and we shook hand😢😢 what a great moment of my life...RIP Chris❤
@@abbymba9141Wow! You lucky person! I would have to have seen Chris live. What a special memory
Same! It's always a refreshing moment!
"I only Love you when I'm down."
"I'm down all the time."
Greatest rock ballad ever written.
It’s jazz
Chris Cornell's sad songs always made me feel better when I was depressed. My thought was that if he could make such beauty from his sadness, maybe there was still hope for good in my own. Thank you for choosing this song. I love it, and everything from the Euphoria Morning album.
Chris has defended "depressing' and 'angry' music a few times against naysayers in interviews who believed that it made people feel the same way.
He would always respond that it's important to write that kind music, so people who are struggling with those negative feelings know that there is someone else out there going through the same struggle, and that they aren't alone.
@@alext2566 So true💜!
@Mario Castillo A really dark creepy song is "Nowhere but You". It's more sinister than usual, kinda sounds Tom Waits inspired.
Top 3 albums he was ever a part of. Maybe top 2 next to Superunknown. It's brilliant and the extent to which it's underrated is a war crime.
Agreed. For me it felt like not being alone. Like I’m not the only one. Like someone understood how I felt. RIP and thanks CC
Hearing how healthy and strong his voice is here, and the control man wtf. How could he possibly recover from how burned out his voice was in 2003-2005 era, and get back to this level. Incredible
I can't get over it either. Reminds me of Ali when he was "too old" and should've got crushed by George Foreman, but somehow, the souls of special people find a way to take the wheel and drive it home.
Makes me cry all the time. Miss you, Chris!
ALL THE TIME! Yes indeed
💯😢
Chris was my cousin. Thank you for these responses. It keeps use going and his spirit alive
Me too...
"and in your happiness, I'm always drowning in my grief" So many favorite lyrical moments (for me) that Chris wrote, but that is one of them. the guy wasn't just a gifted songwriter; he was a poetic genius.
Anybody who hasn't listened to the entirety of Euphoria Morning is doing themselves a disservice, it's such a beautiful album, and it gives you a look into Cornell that you just don't get with his other work. An absolute masterpiece from top to bottom. Disappearing One can move me to tears every single time I hear it.
Number one zero .
@@dragonclaws9367that's a particularly underrated tune on Out of Exile.
Not gonna lie, that was the first time I've been able to listen to Chris since his passing - more than any other artist, his passing left me feeling so lost, and I knew listening to him too soon would just hurt too much.
I feel what you’re saying. It took me a couple years too. And some of it is really far more poignant than it even was initially in terms of lyrics. I never kidded myself that Chris was over his depression I just didn’t expect that kind of end for him. And his death occurred after my dad’s and before my mom’s so it was a tough few years there and it’s like I lost a friend to comfort me.
@@TomMcMahonMUSIC I hope you have found comfort.
@@revelgirl1742 thank you for your kind words. And somewhat yeah, I have. Thanks.
Hey Beth, there ain't nothin wrong with crying when you listen to Chris. Ever since he died I tear up and, sometimes ball my eyes out, anytime I hear him sing anything.
Beautiful gift R.I.P. Chris
One love
I'd go further and say I have a hard time trusting somebody that listens to this song and doesn't get at least a little choked up. It's the emotional equivalent of a car crash. This is the song that made me bawl like a toddler the day he passed away.
Chris is one of those singers - that can bring me to tears. He was so good, and I miss this guy. You're amazing, Cornell.
He wrote this so so many years before his life ended. I always think of how many years he had these thoughts even back earlier than this. Living with that sadness for so long much have been so exhausting. Now he’s resting out there in the universe somewhere and maybe that pain has been healed. That’s what we can hope for.
This is my favorite song by a male singer. The love, the pain, the loss. Beautiful.
I'm so glad you're FINALLY reacting to a Chris Cornell video that does him justice, lol!
Although a devout worshipper at the altar of Chris Cornell, I can admit his performances could be a bit unpredictable live, depending on his vocal health and on how "altered" his mental state was, but when he was ON like in this video, he was godlike.
RIP legend
So much this. I love the man, but his live stuff can be really hit or miss.
Nice live performance of Black Saturday by Chris and Ben:
th-cam.com/video/ifF6VEAUXiM/w-d-xo.html
I saw him in Montreal at the Olympia or Saint-Denis Theater, I think it was in 2009. Solo performance with bits of "unplugged" versions of SoundGarden songs. I was just blown away. He was on a "sharp" state of mind and shredded for 2 hours and a half. One of the best live shows of my 56 years old life.
He had way more "on" performances then off... especially in the last 6-7 years of his life
I never really saw a bad performance - until the last one. He lived so much for music. He was music. I think if anything he just pushed it too hard to be all things for all people. To reform and tour with Soundgarden, to be working on touring Higher Truth and working on the next project, and soundtrack projects, and charity work - As someone who suffers from depression - and of course without anywhere near those demands, it is heartwrenching that he forgot to take the time to help himself. And he was a loving father ahd husband and spent a lot of time away during the last few years. Depression creeps up on those of us who are vulnerable to it. And it truly does take over.
I'm not one to get emotional about "celebrity" passings but Chris Cornell really hit me hard. I legit cried on and off for three days. I didn't know tbe guy. One of the best voices and souls in music history for sure.
I hear ya! Hey, I still cry to this day.
For me, this is the greatest love song of all time. Guaranteed tears from this fella
Never clicked a video so fast. I was just looking at some Cornell reactions yesterday and wished more would react to this performance. So many gems by Chris that go ignored.
100% most of his work is completely
Overlooked even by fans. He was a fantastic singer as we all know, but was an absolute songwriting machine! Easily top 10 songwriter all time. Period!
Even when he made it big he never stopped writing real, true to the heart music like so many others do. It wasn't in him to sit back and pump out mediocre half hearted albums. That's because he was the REAL DEAL!
While getting professional knowledge and insight about how vocals are sung is great, seeing Beth completely wrapped up in the emotion of a vocal performance is quite lovely.
Hearing Chris during these performances, I wish I could pause and just keep him a while longer. He was such an immense talent and genuine person.
This was during Chris's sober years. The crispness and control is because he was there in mind and body. I've been an avid fan fan for decades and it breaks my heart to have lived through his digression and depression. This man delt with a lot of demons in his short life! Love ya CC!
His voice has always made me melt
Yeah he could transform from a gentle lonely midnight breeze into a screaming hurricane in an instant!
Insane talent
I totally agree! I always put him back on my stereo when I'm down. RIP FOREVER ( with the perfect voice)!
This whole album brings back so many memories. Over the past 20+ years, Chris Cornell's voice has been the soundtrack to so many important moments of my life. I even got to see him live once. But Euphoria Morning was something else. That album was a vision of someone sitting in a tree by a lake and contemplating their whole life. Damn
💜💜💜
I hear you.
That album is in my all time top 5.
When I listen to Follow My Way.. my god I feel like I'm torn apart
@@ogulcanyolcu8714 This is song is so special to me....only those who can relate can understand.
Chris Cornell is one of the best popular singers I’ve ever heard. Absolutely awesome, extraordinary creative song writer. I really cried when he died and miss his music a lot.
My very favourite rendition of this song. Chris sounds amazing here. This song brings to my eyes. How I wish he was still here to treat us to his amazing voice. Rest in Power Chris
chris cornell"s voice was always a blessing!!
Euphoria Morning is a hidden gem of a record. Chris sings wonderfully on it and the songs are a great departure from Soundgarden and even his later stuff considering the collaboration with Alain Johannes and Natasha Schneider.
I'm surprised this song doesn't get more attention, (and the album for that matter, the highlight of his career for me), delighted to see you comment on it here.
I think it has to do with marketing and circumstance. Euphoria Mourning was difficult to pin down as a genre, it's a bit slow and cerebral for most rock stations, and pop only cared about boy bands and underaged underclothes girls.
I also think the singles were poorly picked, they played it too safe with poppier songs that didn't showcase Chris' vocals well. 'Pillow of Your Bones' was hard enough for rock and it has an immediate hook with the opening riff.
I think, if he released Higher Truth as a country record he'd have killed it! and pump some real music into the trash heap in the process.
This concert was one of the best vocal performances of his career. His cover of Ticket To Ride from here is legendary.
Crying. He really was incredible, such a loss. A horrible horrible loss
This song is beautiful. So sad that he's gone, but it's so fortunate that he shared his gift with us for so many years.
I just love that there are still people in this world that have such a visceral physical reaction to music that truly moves them. Thank you for being brave enough to be yourself.
I'm glad you finally found this live version, it's amazing.
Rest in power Chris Cornell, you will be missed forever, but at least we have your music to bring us joy
Thanks Beth for not faking it and really showing you care about the music.
I was waiting to see that priceless reaction of my favorite live performans of all time! Thank you for doing this! RIP Chri Cornell The most touching and beautiful voice and soul for me!
It’s been 5 years and watching this still made me 😢 thank you for sharing your emotions
I literally wept at the end of this song while sitting in my backyard watching my daughter play with sparklers and my girlfriend texting me. It so puts life in perspective and I’m glad to have had Chris’ music always have been a big part of it...
That entire record was so incredible, one of my all time favorites.
This song makes me cry every single time I hear it. Every. Single Time.
This is such a great reaction video to such a great song even the vocal expert can't really explain the tears we shared. Thanks Beth love it.
CC lives on
😥 his voice is so moving but knowing what is known about his life just leaves me in tears. I love his music so much. Thank you for the review.
I know how you feel. His voice was so beautiful and his ability to use it was so extraordinary. Then to think of it and his beautiful soul gone. Makes me cry too.
Only one, only singer that can give such an emotional expierence through singing..i really enjoyed watching Yours reaction and had a goosebumps all the time..thanks for this one😊
One of the greatest vocalists we have ever had on this planet.
He had a talent for songwriting, and his lyrics are pure poetry coupling that into his range and vocal timbre that surpassed several octaves, Cornell was unique in everything he did and his art touched so many, may he rest in peace CHRIS!!!
Dang it, Beth! You made me cry too. Chris Cornell was an amazing singer and impact on rock and roll.
Thanks for sharing this incredible performance. Chris was one of the best singers of all time. Such a sad, sad song.
This is my favorite of all of Cornell's songs, and I'm fortunate to have seen him do it live twice. It still makes me emotional. I miss him so much.
Watching you react to this beautiful man and his beautiful voice is the first time I've teared up watching a TH-cam video.
I was lucky enough to see him on the higher truths acoustic tour I is and always will be one on the best concerts I've ever been to his voice just echoed all around the venue.
One of the all time greats for sure, that Chris Cornell. As always with these recordings of the musicians, singers and actors who've passed on, I'm reminded how thankful I am to live in an era where we have the technology to preserve these performances. I can't even imagine how many talented performers we'll never know, as they have simply been lost to history.
Wow. This might be one of the best singing performances I have ever seen
Thank you Beth. Not that long ago I finally got sober after battling opiate addiction for longer than I'd care to admit. Chris' music and NA has helped me cope with new battles like depression and anxiety and OCD. I'm not using, but just because I'm not doesn't mean that everything is rainbows and sunsets. But my worst day sober is a thousand times better than my best day when I was using. I don't really know why I said all of this, maybe someone out there needed to hear it. We love and miss you Chris. See you on the other side my friend
I keep coming back to this performance. It’s just hauntingly beautiful. Your reaction is spot on. Keep up the great work!
The absolute GOAT. The world changed when you left. I always hoped you would be the one to write like this, with such authenticity and passion, but make it through the other side. I never met you, but I miss you dearly.
No-one sings like you anymore...
A voice of absolute bliss, simply one of the greatest vocalists ever....God Bless you Chris, sing loud with the angels.
Sadly, it is the most creative and life-loving individuals that succumb to the world's sadness. I was devastated when Chris decided to leave us. May you be in that place of ultimate joy and love, sir.
I keep coming back to this...I've accepted the fact I won't be getting over his passing, but I'm grateful he constantly worked, leaving us a huge catalog of music!
Truly Truly one of a kind. He always makes me feel so emotional!
He was incredible.
Really need to check him out doing a cover of Stay With Me Baby. Epic vocals! So soulful.
One of my absolute favorites!
This really hit me too. I'd never heard this version before, and it's such a beautiful gut punch!
Chris was amazing! .... he really sing always with he's soul! We miss him!
Beth, just watching you react to Chris’ absolute perfection gives me chills. I’m not a singer, but man I feel every ounce of emotion in his voice in this song. Ooof 😮
Chris is a legend, thanks for all, love you man. RIP
Damn...I will Never grow not grow but tire or take for granted how awesome Chris is. So thankful I saw him 4 times from 1992-2000.
My favorite song of his of many amazing songs. This really showcases his range, technically and emotionally.
You are so smart Beth, love your Chanel. You are one of the most genuin things on internet. Never stop being you ❤️ Love from Sweden 🇸🇪
Thank you Annhelen!
Chris' first solo album "Euphoria Mourning" (intended spelling in the reissue album) is a masterpiece. Can't change me, Moonflower, Disappearing one, Pillow of your bones, Steel Rain, and my personal favorite Preaching the end of the world... every song shows a different shade of his talent. My favorite solo album from any artist ever.
There will NEVER be another voice even close to Chris. That is a once in a, not just a lifetime, but a literal world time. There’s never been anything close before him and there never will be. Be happy you got to exist at the same time as Cornell! Truly a pleasure!
O melhor de todos os tempos.
Nunca havera um igual ou semelhante.
Lindo react.
Espero que todos vejam o que e rock.
Rock e chris cornell.
Descanse em paz.para sempre nus nossos coraçoes.
YES! This is the Best reaction I have ever seen, to anything... Ever!!!
Thank YOU
he grabs your soul through the music and shakes your emotions and just makes you feel so much . he was just amazing. he shaped my youth
I cried the very first time I had seen that version of the song. Still today, I cry when I see that particular video. Miss him so bad.
amazing how he sang it was the best voice of the 90s very good video greetings from argentina
Thanks for listening
ARGENTINA. ARGENTINA!
Greetings from Vienna Austria!
Been there in 2003,most beautiful girls in the world and such a joy of people!
....I was crying like a child when the Albiceleste lost the final in Rio 2014.
This song gets me everytime. Knowing what he was going through when he wrote songs like this just make it that bit more special
Your aptitude and innate understanding of the intricacies of “all things vocal” is amazing for such a young age.
He's a marvel to most of us! How rare is it when a voice can cut to the quick? Chris was a gift!
I'm so happy to see this. I always had a thing for this album. It's an absolute masterpiece. This performance cuts like a knife, and I try to share it with anyone I can. He was an incredible vocalist, and past his prime here. It makes it even more impressive. Edit: I've had some of the most fun on guitar learning this record. A beautiful mix of blues, jazz, prog, and classic rock. I learned chords I didn't know, and I've been playing for over 20 years.
Not just a mind blowing vocalist, he wrote music and lyrics for that song as well
It's very hard to hear an artist speak/sing about their depression, when you know that the depression won in the end. The hindsight is heartbreaking.
Layne from AIC singing "Nutshell" live is very similar.
RIP Chris, I feel blessed that I got to see you at your next to last show.♥️
I know exactly what you mean. Seeing Layne in the unplugged concert singing the line “I’d feel better dead” is absolutely haunting and tough to see.
When Layne Staley died I was so hurt and devastated, I didn't think anyone else could hit me so hard as Layne, then I heard Chris Cornell had taken his own life. I just fell to pieces, all I could say was I don't believe it, somebody made a mistake. Then I got the news Chester Bennington took his life, and on Chris's Birthday. I had, had enough my broken heart just couldn't take much more. It's strange how someone you never met never knew could have such an effect on you. It took me a long time before I could listen to any of their music. Even though I can now listen to Chris, Layne and Chester, I still cry every time......Chris, Layne & Chester have all said Hello to Heaven may they RIP........
From a fellow Scot, I loved this Beth. What an incredible performance this is from Chris.
The studio jam of seasons recorded and filmed much later in his career is amazing! It's done with a room full of studio musicians, including percussions which gives a heavier vibe.
Absolutely perfect performance
A fabulous reaction, truly (madly deeply)
This is one of those cornell performances that show cases his craftsmanship to the fullest. Definitely a showcase of his most dynamic vocal performance. After his passing, I found most cover tributes did not wow me. You should look at Mike Love, Reggae artist, covering Seasons by chris cornell. Another rare one.
Amazing performance, but believe it or not there's are a few on par or even better! 'Mission' at the House of Blues LA 2000, and 'Black Hole Sun' at Live Earth 2007 are a couple. More if interested.
Chris was one heck of a singer... Great range! He had his demons... He will be missed. Thank goodness we have these videos and recordings. Beth please take care and stay healthy. I truly love your work and insights.

Thank you!
@@BethRoars thank YOU! Can't tell you how much you've helped me learn as a high level musician who sucks at singing but tries. Lol. ✌
I got give it to you, Beth. You made the right choice once more and put me on the spot with this reaction. I love Chris' work and it's hard to maintain a straight face knowing what happened to him so I got what you felt there.
A warm and delicate hug for you from Brazil, dearly.
His loss is a wound that will never truly heal
That's very true.
Euphoria Mourning is his best solo work. A MASTERPIECE. Seriously. Each song is perfect.
Beth, listening to the beauty of Chris Cornell at once breaks my heart too. Your observation that his voice distortion was something he perhaps couldn't control near the end of his life really threw me too. Thank you for sharing the humanity you feel in this amazing talented soul. OXOXOXOX
Chris is my favorite artist hands down
That's because you have awesome taste! I might be biased, he's my favorite too!
WOW Beth!
Last week Ronnie James Dio...today R.I.P. Chris Cornell!
His own acoustic covers of billie Jean and Imagine are epic! 😎
Two of the biggest, most powerful voices to ever grace a mic. If they ever shared a stage, I do believe that would have cracked open a wormhole to Nth dimension!
@@alext2566
Hey! What is a "Nth dimension"?
@@patmctallica3522 One doesn't know for sure. It remains a mystery, much like what one would find deep in the rabbit hole, or in the abyss if one stares too long. Or living in the Superunkown (Get it?). An esoteric concept.

hey, thanks for understanding how much it means to have lost this voice, this sound, this song......and to bring some life to it......this songs just hurts, but one can always understand his artistry in anything that he sang -- again, thank you for stepping outside the youtube box
I love watching and hearing someone appreciate this song as much as I do. I’m surrounded by people who listen exclusively to classical music. I made the mistake of playing this song (his best, in my opinion) from Euphoria Morning. They rolled their eyes because of the gravel elements in his voice. That only makes it more beautiful to me.
Thank you for loving his art. What a hard loss.
Thanks Beth for reacting to Chris Cornell☺ One of my fav singers of all time!
A great reaction video to a great performance by my all favourite singer. I have to agree its one of the best performances to hear his voice. 2 other songs I would recommend by CC are The Last Remaining Light and Seasons.
