Just want to say there is a common thread that connects all of the lost singers… it’s not drugs(close) but a nihilistic ideology. Where death is looked as the cure not the disease. It’s empathy of the things that destroy you. The left side of the country is a black hole sun for beauty.
"All the flowers that you planted, mama, in your back yard... all died when you went away." I can never get past that part without crying.
That line kills me. A dear friend of mine was a huge fan, and her mom completed a suicide attempt, and I think of them both when I hear this line.
I cry every time at that part, too. Every single time.
My mother died one month ago from stage 4 lung cancer and she had created over the years, a huge, beautiful garden that slowly disintegrated as she got sicker and sicker..and she would ask me how it looked and I told her perfect.

This reaction... Just... this one moment, where you forgot you had to pause and talk over the performance, the moment where it hit you and got you close to tears and just stunned you... this emotional connection with at least one member of the audience... I think this is what every musician and performer should and does strive for. And I also think it's beautiful to see it actually happen.
It's pretty amazing when everyone is sharing and feeling the same emotion at the same time. Its such an internal connection to others.

I can tell from your eyes and the the shortness of your reaction that you felt what most of us as fans of Chris feel now hearing his voice. I find myself crying without thinking about it and some of the songs I just "rocked out" to and sang along to at the top of my lungs pull emotions from me that surprise me everytime. The profound effect of his loss I think is still lost on me. But everytime I hear his voice now I'm reminded of the impact he made in my life. To be able to still hear him is a treasure not everyone gets when losing a loved one. It's joyous and bittersweet, and sometimes leaves me low or high for days. What a voice. We miss you buddy. I never heard Chris Cornell prior to this vid. He had a wonderful gift which was shared with the world and is still being discovered by new listeners. I'm thankful to have had this experience today.

@@crashq8784 His last album was a solo effort called Higher Truth, it truly does not get enough love, my wife and I saw Chris perform live in concert at the Edmonton Jubilee Auditorium just a few months before he passed. It remains my all time favorite concert performance.

Every time I hear his voice I get tears in my eyes. I grew up listening to Soundgarden and then Audioslave. So to hear his voice makes me feel like I'm coming home. I'll miss you forever Chris! 😪
If you haven’t yet you should really look at Temple of the Dog. Another great group with him and some of his best vocals in my opinion.

Me too. Hit me like a truck. Normally celebrity deaths, news, and drama is something I couldn't care less about. But that morning when I woke up and saw the news, it was like losing a close friend or family member. Hard to describe, I can't imagine any other celebrity having that effect on me. But his music was always there when I was in a dark place, showed me that I wasn't alone.
What a beautiful take on what Chris did with this song. He can touch your soul in a way not many people can. I miss him, but his legacy will always live on.

Layne, Chris, Eddie, Kurt.. They all were masters of their craft. Grunge brought us some of the best vocalists of all time, at least to my ear! Brings a tear to my eye to think that only 1 of the mentioned names are alive today.. Rest in peace, guys.

Chris and Layne's deaths were both such a profound loss for me for reasons I don't fully understand. I can't get through this without being moved, either. I embrace your work, Ken.
I noticed when he hits the line about all the flowers dying when you went away, it appeared to hit you and that line always gets me also because I think of his life and the beauty that he brought dying when he left us.
My father passed away 18 years ago today. I actually have 12/8 tattooed on my arm in honor of him, John Lennon, and Dimebag Darrell, who also passed on this day. I watched this video from a totally different perspective, but shared every look on your face throughout the video. Add the context of loving Chris Cornell and growing up with Sinead's version of this song (I'm 38 now), this brought a warmth to my heart that definitely helps during the winter months here in Detroit. Much love and CHEERS to the talent that brings us together! Life can get tough, but it helps if you give it a killer soundtrack

There’s only so much you can say after this. The first time I saw it, I was so disappointed Prince didn’t get to hear it. Now I hear it and it just hits hard. I felt that same appreciation in your choice to play it through, then the sense of a profound loss in the reaction.

I think I was like 14 and heard “Burden in My Hand” on the radio and I looked over to my older friend. “Yes, that’s Chris Cornell. You’ll never not know that voice” RIP. That was a hard day.
Obviously, the emotion of the song, the simple brilliance of the performance, and the stark reality that we will never hear Chris' voice again... they all come together and leave you speechless. What is there to critique? You just accept it as brilliance and cherish every note. Nothing needs to be said beside, Thank you, Chris. You are, and will forever be, missed.

He is just an awesome person my daughter is a concert promoter, she said during meet and greets with the fans that out of the hundreds of celebrity/music acts Chis was the most kind, nicest, humble person she ever met. I have watched countless vocal coach youtube videos of Chris Cornell, and in every single solitary one, they are all moved to tears and or flustered visibly. Call me what you will, but Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain and Eddie Veder, had rock voices you could just never replicate again. The greatest American Music revolution there has ever been. And Chris stands above them all, now beside Kurt and Layne. RIP my friend. No one sings like you anymore.

I seriously miss this man. He had a massive impact on my life when I was younger and got me through some very, very dark times. I can see it on your face that you feel a lot of pain, perhaps in a good way, in way of remembrance. Best vocal analysis Ive ever seen to not even interrupt, to put emotion first, to try to say something real and just recognize something is more important than what you intended to do.
I saw Chris live at The Palais Theatre in Melbourne 2015. His power with an acoustic guitar nearly blew the roof off the place. He was an amazing performer.
R.I.P. Mr. Cornell. You are gone far far too early but you'll NEVER be forgotten. What a genius performer and singer. Once in a Lifetime talent. As he matured into his own he NEVER shied away from taking career risks. That's the mark of a true performer. One who never fails to challenge him/herself and constantly pushing themselves to realize their true full potential! Too many, TOO MANY "performers" today just play it safe.
