I seem to recall the last time I went to the vet they made me sign something about giving worming medication to all pets that the facility treats. I don't recall if it was heart or intestinal worms they were worried about. Should I be concerned about what vets I take my cats too if they may be given unnecessary and potentially dangerous drugs? Btw I'm going to buy your book. I have two male cats and it seems like most of the problems they've had so far have been diet related. Thanks for the information.
I have worked in cat rescue doing TNR and feeding strays, rescuing kittens and sock cats. NEVER has any vet or Rescue Director said to give heartworm to strays even though told to give oral flea meds in FLORIDA I am shocked and horrified.
Now a cat dumped in my yard 6 years ago and living outside as she escaped the box she was left in. I feed her daily have a bed for her under my home give her Comfortis monthly and lysine in her wet food.Lately s zombie cat (more dead then alive) was near my yard and eating from her bowls. I saw her with facial sounds and getting thinner fur balding filling. Took to vet thinking FIV and scabies told FIV and heartworm. She is s skeleton with big round belly. Given droncit liquid nothing else. Told to add Famotidine 10 mg for nausea/Gerd and Cerenia for Vomiting which she is 3x + day but, very hungry eats 3 5.5 oz cans of Friskies s day.
❓❓What additions can I give to help her please? She weighs 5 lbs is min. @8 yo. Lysine? How much? Any vitamins? Any herbs or homeopathic meds? Diet?
I never could you h her in 6 years or trap her. Now she's indoors in a cage and all she wants is to be petted and held. I'm broken hearted. Vet said pts. I wanted to give her a chance. She's always been healthy good weight shiny fur no fleas now a Zombie cat but, I'm hoping will turn around am I naive? Please I don't want her suffering but, I want to give her a chance. I trapped my community stray cats when I moved tested all for FIV when one got diagnosed. all 6 on 10 years + np in health.
Please advise me I need to see improvement or I'm just torturing her.

i hope your cat is doin well! im in fl too n its sad hear from my vet to cut expenses tnr doesnt always give preventative care with these issues. :c ive started housing a feral ive fed for a year now n found out they have fiv n heartworms, it can be super stressful. i wish your cat a fast recovery !

my doctor said hes going to die... i just cant believe it. but he is losing weight and he isnt himself. im looking up natural diets and herbs to kill the worms but im scared to do that cause once they die he can get sick from that. i just dont know what to do. i dont have any kids... hes my son.
Vivid, LLC Art Meditation I'm so sorry to hear about your baby! May I ask you what happened with him? I suspect my kitty my have heartworm. How did they diagnose your baby? Was it through blood work? Also, what kind of symptoms did you notice? any info would be appreciated. Thank you!
510twin he is still alive and kickin!! The doctors told me that he wouldnt live but he's still alive.
In the beginning he was throwing up and was loosing a lot of weight. Doctors gave him a water pill for his kidneys and a pill for his heart. I gave him the pills for months. But I also gave him garlic juice daily. I read that garlic juice kills the parasites.
The thing is I haven't gotten an xray done to see if the worms have die or if they are present. But he is back to his old self so Im assuming he is ok. I will be getting an xray soon.

Vivid, LLC Art Meditation Thank you so much for replying! I couldn't figure out how to email you on here. Did you ever notice any breathing difficulties with your baby? I noticed my cat has been breathing rapidly and has trouble breathing even with no activity. I took her to the vet and they did x-rays and blood work. I'm getting the results tomorrow 😓
