They off board tens of thousands of travelers every year and the statistics were deemed to be about 0.001% true risk of trafficking. 99.99% legitimate travelers who wasted savings, hard earned money and dreams for NOTHING. It is a disgrace.

Not everyone is trafficked. A lot tho overstay. Yes, most of them would return safely. Maybe take a look at the stats of how many have to be rescued by their government or embassy. If that # is even near 1%, it is far too many that justify scrutiny. I, too, whish it was easier. Where there is a will, there is a way. Read my post in the comments

My friend hired 2 Filipino caregivers to travel to America on work visa. As soon as she died one caregiver disappeared to become undocumented TNT. I wonder if the TNT did her job correctly or tried to hasten my friend's death. Unfortunately too many people in America do not follow the rules.

My fiancé was turned away at the very last minutes before boarding a plane to meet up with me in Japan. We had even used a travel agent to make sure we had everything in order for the trip. An Immigration officer decided to hold her up because she didn't have a work release from her employer.?
I lost 1000's of dollars and she cried many buckets of tears. But the immigration officer really showed us she was in power and in charge 👍
And the Travel Agent's response for their mistake was "Oh no, sorry about that. "
So.... pay the extra money for a cancelable and changeable ticket or you might just learn the hard way like me.
Looks like you went from Cebu to Singapore to Phuket?

Using an agency does not guarantee that a Filipino will be approved for exit from the Philippines. In fact, an agency's role is merely to submit your application on your behalf-something you can do on your own. Preparing the necessary paperwork is the applicant's responsibility; the agency's only task is to handle the submission.

Its disgusting that the Philippine immigration is allowed to stop a law abiding person mainly women from traveling abroad. The whole overstay / working abroad is a BS argument because that is a 100% duty on immigration of the country they are going to and not the duty of Philippine immigration on exiting Filipina's. Checking you have a return ticket and a place to stay is one thing but beyond that its really just about controlling young women and/or the poorer people. Some of these immigration agents HATE seeing pretty Filipina's traveling with a foreigner and they really don't think of trafficking but just want to interfere and ruin her trip.

There is a solution. It is called an Affidavit of Support and Guarantee. For that you have to go to your local Philippine Embassy to legalize it. I had my girlfriend coming to Vietnam to join me for a vacation. NO PROBLEM. Of course you also must have a return ticket and health insurance. But with that Affidavit from the Philippine Embassy it is very difficult if not impossible not to let you go.

I've seen both sides of the story. In Cambodia I met a Filipino who told immigration that he was going on vacation and could never leave his homeland. He told me that he has no intention of ever going back, because the Philippines might not let him leave again. On the other hand I have met lots of Filipinos that went to work for the 2 year work contract companies that send Filipinos to work in Dubai and Canada as restaurant, cleaning and nursing workers for $15/hr. These Filipinos seem to do the best, because after only working in Canada for like 1 or 5 years you can apply for citizenship. Any country you work for an extended period of time, you can apply for citizenship like Singapore.

A country that will not allow any person who isn't wanted in connection with a crime to leave at any time, taking with them any property they have legally acquired, is not free. However, freedom describes your range of options, not probable results. Being given complete freedom is like being handed a double edged sword point first. You need to be incredibly cautious while you figure out what to do with it and you're probably going to bleed some regardless.

The reasons for offloading are mostly valid. Authorities are responsible for the safety of their citizens. If a Filipino has to be rescued abroad, it is a big problem. As a foreigner, I went thru all the hoops to allow my Filipina to travel. A history of remittances, photos & correspondence to prove the relationship, a signed affidavit stating my responsibility for her safety, return air ticket, confirmed hotel reservations. I let her clear the immigration line first, but just behind her, in case there was a problem. The officer was quite surprise that her documents were all in order. In fact, asking how she knew to have all these. Of course I did my homework. At that point we were escorted to another level of security, where I signed their affidavit. After 7 years, we still travel on a regular basis. Because we are both in the computer system, it is now quite easy. The proof of relationship is no longer needed. It can be infuriating when you don't understand the intention of the policy. Also. The immigration officers are not the most charming. Enough said.
As for Filipinos traveling on their own, they will need viable financial proof, perhaps owing assets, like property. Philippines is largely a poor country. 90% of them could face hardship abroad if they are not self sufficient. Lastly. These policies were implemented because of abuses. Be well. Make it happen.
Note: be sure to have a fully refundable air ticket (in the beginning) if you are offloaded, you can cancel immediately.
Same with hotels. I just book to make itinerary, then cancel. As long as you have a printed hotel confirmation, you are good.

Firstly the fact that it’s down to an arbitrary immigration employee decision. Totally inconsistent. Secondly it done so late in travel process minutes before flight so cancellation impacts financially. Better to educate and inform before booking.

I think the 'human trafficking' answer is often used as an excuse. As many times its used when its quite obvious that is not the case and ridiculous questions are asked which are in no way pertaining to that assumption. It seems they don't mind you being OFW's but I think theres a bit of jealousy otherwise. My ex was offloaded when i had booked a special trip for her to Singapore (she was meeting me there). So i had to phone the airport and book a replacement flight for the one she missed at a much bigger cost and she missed the first night of a very expensive hotel i booked as a treat. If my country (U.K.) did this there would be uproar!

If I might add the biggest reason it’s hard for Filipinos to travel through customs is because the Philippines is a major destination/exporter of illicit pharmaceuticals like Shabu( ecstasy) from countries like Singapore and Indonesia it’s also a prime route for methamphetamine flown in from Chinese gangs. These types of things plus trafficking make traveling very hard from the Philippines and it makes screening passengers a necessary evil! This is not a good thing but maybe it’s just a negative consequence.❤Shay

I would not bet on that. Us yes absolutely, Immigration/Customs not so much, though once you have the visa not bad. Millions are allowed to walk across the border with no papers but try to fly here honestly, a differently story.
Most of US airports were built before the added security after 9-11, and even before, so their layouts are a mess. But that is something not limited to the US. (Flying out of Quito, Ecuador to the US may have been the worst for me, you had to surrender your ticket and passport just to go to the bathroom and be rescreened to go back to your gate.)

I would rather see a million Filipinos who want to work go to the USA rather than the people entering illegally.
