"Sanctus Espritus" or "Holy Spirit” is one of my favorite songs of this concert. The voice in the beginning is a speech by “Winston Churchill”. Wish i been in that concert. Missed it. Thank you for this reaction.

Funny, isn't it, all the bands that use Winston Churchill talking in some of their songs? Within Temptation (Our Solemn Hour), Iron Maiden (Aces High), Sabaton (Primo Victoria, at least as part of the song intro during The Great Tour)... am I missing any others?

Another Dutch metal queen :-). Next one should be Anneke van Giersbergen with the band The Gathering. I suggest to check out the song Travel (which is about her fascination for Mozart and his music), especially the TG25 live recording here on TH-cam.

Holland particularly felt the war, as they were steamrolled in 1940 and then brutally occupied by the Nazi regime for the next five years. My Mom, Dad and GrandDad were all in the RAF; my Dad would never talk about the War

My late partner's last name was de Tromp (and de Ruyter on her grandmothers' side). Her parents would never talk about the war either. My father served in the RAN on two ships, both alongside HMNLS Tromp in the Pacific. I often wonder if it was meant to be....

If you at some point see the Sabaton history channel about the Warzaw uprising, you'll hear Joakim & Indy Neidell talk about war is in reality vs. movies.

I understand where you're coming from when it comes to war. And I honestly agree. There are many silly, selfish wars out there. And I understand that you Americans may think that this is all that war is about.
But I come from Poland. We don't have weapons as deadly as the USA. We don't have the money, business influence in the world to protect our country. There is only one thing we, the Poles, have.
    BLOOD.
To us, Poles, war always means a time when we are threatened on very personal level. A time when the enemy will slaughter us no matter what we do. A time when you never know when a stray bullet will hit you. If I told you stories from wartime that our parents and grandparents tell us, you wouldn't believe half of it.
This is why when we, the Poles, go to war - there's no fucking middle ground. We fight 'till the last of us falls on the battlefield. We never lose hope. We never stop. And we never ever forget.
That's because this is the only defense our country has. That attitude of its soldiers. If an enemy attacks us - they can defeat us, they can even think they've won. But this is NOT how this works in Poland. In our country until the enemy leaves every child is born a soldier, every house is a stronghold. A secret war when our enemies have no idea what to expect. Germans know a thing or two about that from their occupation of Poland during World War II.
This is what war means to us.
Iraq? Afganistan? Those are not wars. Not compared to what we, the Poles, remember from our history.
I mean I understand why the US started conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the truth is the people in those countries have no real concept of freedom. Not the way we define it. You cannot set people free when they themselves never believe that true freedom is even within their grasp. You cannot force them to be free when they have no hope. Which means that this was never a conflict that could be won with military power alone. Sadly, nobody realized until it was too late.
It all comes down to hope. If you have hope, in time you can force even the mightiest enemies out of your country, modern weapons or not. But if you have no hope of winning all badass weaponry in the world will be wasted on you.

On this topic (but different music genre) I would recommend this song of Di-rect dedicated to veterans. They sing it during a Veterans Day in the Netherlands. 2 band members: Frans van Zoest (guitarist) and Marcel Veenendaal (singer) tell a story before the song about this topic (I can share a translation of what they say if you watch it and are curious) which takes about 1,5 ~ 2 minutes and then the song starts. They sing the song live in front of newer and older veterans, around 5 minutes you can see King Willem Alexander as well. There are also other live versions of this song of Di-rect that are great.
    Link to the video: th-cam.com/video/5NVun-e50ek/w-d-xo.html
Di-rect is a Dutch band in which Tim Akkerman sang before (of Beste Zangers 2019). This new singer (Marcel Veenendaal) also has a really powerfull but very different voice and I think this song is really beautiful with a nice tribute to Veterans.
