Good question. The standard lithihium batteries often have only a 100 amp bms. Meaning you put too much energy in like with my 150 amp car alternator or when starting the engine you can pull like 300 amps or more. So if the battery management system would shut down your battery, you can burn out your alternator because the energy your alternator makes has to go somewhere. You could see on car battery listings that those have 600-900 cca cold cranking amps which the car needs in order to turn over engine until it starts. Maybe you could get away with using a trolling motor battery, AT YOUR OWN RISK because it can handle many amps in and out. Possibly okay if you have only 50-75 amp alternator because you don't want BMS to shut it off. It's a drop in replacement, there are no requirements, it just works in your car battery compartment. It probably charges faster too, at least at 70 amps I would say.
And Will, STOP RECOMMENDING CHEAP BATTERIES ... Why haven't you ever recommended the Eco-Worthy 150Ah, always stupid Chinese batteries made of plastics instead of in a nice metal case. And your aversion to 12v is silly because of the Cables!
Your width is not 7 inches. You moved the tape measure off. I saw about 6.5 inches. Its a big deal to others to know the exact measurements before buying it
Bro it's not a standard commute vehicle A, it may be a lifeline in the future with supply chain breakdowns. AND you can use it to charge and power your devices without worrying it will run down. We are talking about 2x the capacity of standard batteries first of all and a more dependable technology that may last the lifetime of the car. Hey I want to sleep well at night that my car battery won't fail me at some random moment and walmart got closed because of loo ting and hyperinflation and you can't get a replacement. What are you going to do then? Commuter car implies you use it to get to work? Getting stuck without a working car is an expense in itself. I say this is an electrical upgrade and a game changer that will allow me to also charge solar generators and additional batteries from within the car. Also no more oxidation on the terminals that the old battery causes. Keep drinking your flu ori de water and and your kool aid and sing everything is wonderful like in the Lego movie sipping on a 50 dollar starbucks.
That is like 10 Walmart replacement batteries. You would need to replace your battery every 9 month for this battery to be cheaper... Not to mention that the Walmart battery has a 3 year warrantee. So there is no way it is cheaper.. But the Lifepo4 battery would probably have a longer run time if your alternator died...
Hey man you keep going to the store and keep paying up for outdated tech that will be almost guaranteed to fail giving you an annoying experience trying to get a jump start. Wait till the supply chain breaks down or the dollar crashers or another cyber situation and you'll be like wow that guy was right.
Hey Walmart guy, cheap ain't always great, it seems you don't see what is going on the world right now, and you think these cheap China made batteries going to keep on trucking in to your walmart even if one of the dark swan events could happen. 10 walmart batteries?
