  • Among the many drop-in trigger modules for the AR-15, the Rise Armament RA-434 High-Performance Trigger offers an excellent combination of performance and affordability. Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant gives us a rundown of the benefits you'll get if you drop an RA-434 into your rifle. The standard mil-spec AR-15 trigger is by no means overly complex, but there are multiple parts and springs to wrangle. Rise Armament puts ALL of the moving parts inside an aluminum housing. The RA-434 comes with anti-walk hammer and trigger pins that securely anchor the module in the gun AND will not back out of the receiver ("walk") as the pins rotate with each pull of the trigger. It has a smooth, 3.5 lb., single-stage pull, and adjustment screws let you tension the trigger against the pins. The RA-434's slim-profile hybrid trigger shoe delivers the benefits of BOTH a traditional curved shoe and a straight target shoe. Check out that crisp, clean reset as Caleb demos it! You don't see or feel the drop safety, but if for any reason the sear lets go of the hammer when it shouldn't, the hammer can't hit the firing pin IF the trigger isn't being pulled. Got an AR-15 with a lackluster trigger? Drop in an RA-434 to tune up the gun's performance without breaking the bank!

    Have this trigger and I love it. Have a few other RA triggers and they all work great.

    They should market this toward seniors.
    I absolutely love this trigger. I decided to try each of the Rise Armament triggers. Started with 140 in a Sig Sauer m400.
    Big improvement over the above average mil-spec trigger they install. The Blitz is definitely a little better in a FM45.
    I skipped and got the 535 APT on sale. And highest at $159
    ITS FAST! REALLY FAST. No timers I don't compete anymore. We had stopwatches btw. Started 1966 on 1911s. Now with Arthritis bugging me. Slowing me down a bit.
    These triggers are Fantastic.
    Best was seven shots off before the first empty shell hits the ground with the 535 in a FM15. Closest was the 434. I actually like the 434 better than 535. And nearly as fast. The movement on the two last triggers are unbelievably micro and crisp.
    HA! Crazy thought. Drop 535 in AR10, Than break out the 1980s
    GAT device. You Young Bucks won't need it to run that fast. I'll tell you straight up if Rise Armament made a hip and knee replacements I would be back competing again. I keep a decent mil-spec trigger in a few ARs for training the grandkids and future GunTubers. I've tried three other brands. I'm sticking with rise armament. Keep up the great work Caleb. I enjoy all the videos you and Steve do.

      @@johnchristian1205 I think the 4.5lb trigger is ideal compared to the lighter ones like the 140 and 130. Sure you could look at it too hard and set the thing off lol but those lighter triggers come with a couple of cons. They don't always reliably detonate harder primers due to the lighter primer strike. When I mod the fcg and bcg out on a new rifle I want something I can trust with my life and the 145 is exactly that.

    Love Rise Armament triggers. Absolutely golden for the price. I'm still pretty loyal to that geissele SSA-E though. But if you want a flat trigger that has a similar break to a geissele, get this.

  • @NoNo_IStay
    @NoNo_IStay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have this exact trigger in a pcc.
    Absolutely 0 take-up. Very crisp. Feels like you broke a tiny glass rod. And 0 over travel. The only complaint I have is the shoe is slippery. It's just a polished finish, so when you shoot fast your finger tends to slip down. If it had some sort of texture on the shoe itself I'd put it in my main rifle.

    • @tmalonso
      @tmalonso ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RaymondTusk74 I think you’re thinking of the original RA140 with the tensioning set screws, yea I had one and wasn’t too impressed when it stopped resetting after 4 years. The Rave140s use tensioning springs instead which has prevented the issue. Amongst my family and hunting buddies there are a total of 9 of those rave140 triggers at this point and none have ever had a single issue and most are over 5 years old…I grabbed my first Rave back in 2016. When my old RA140 stopped resetting in my stern defense converted AR-9mm, I called Rise, they mentioned they were aware of the issue and they only asked to see a video clip of the trigger malfunctioning and then without hesitation offered either a replacement or a swap to the newer Rave140 which I gladly took. Much like anything, folks who spent the most will always poopoo the cheaper options, especially when they’re just as good, because how else can they justify wasting all that extra loot? If that’s your game, don’t let me stop you there…but if you haven’t already over-invested for similar functionality, the Rave is comparable to say the least. If you think about it, almost no creep and overtravel on a 3.5lb pull is going to feel similarly great to some of the most expensive triggers available until you start changing one or more of those three important variables. I didn’t mean to make it sound like it’s the best trigger, I just think it’s, by far, one of the best value drop-in triggers for the money :)

    What appears to be another upgrade on this model, is that the hammer appears to be nickel teflon, or nickel boron covered. Which allows for smoother operation along the bolt carrier group.

      You need something a little heavier than 3.5lb to reliably detonate the primers imo. Even with some 5.56 3.5 is the bare minimum for reliable detonation with MOST ammo. Thats exactly why I get the 4.5 over the 3.5. if I'm using it to defend myself I want it to go bang with whatever ammo I feed it.

There is always better. So far all the different brands I've been able to sample are pretty much on par with each other, exception being Timeny or any who give the option to adjust it for your liken.

    Looks cool. I'm a huge fan of flat triggers. Actually thats all I prefer. Buddy I work with got one. He spent $140 but I don't have a clue as to the model. I done some dry firing with it and it felt like a $90 drop in. That being said I'm a trigger fanatic and, I run either Hiperfire or Geissele triggers. Nothing else, wel, I have 3 binaries. So pulling my buddies trigger paled in comparison to pulling a flat bow Geissele SD3G trigger or a Hiperfire Eclipse trigger. I've shot an insane amount of triggers over the years and nothing feels like a Geissele SD3G trigger. Yes its $220-240ish but worth every penny.

      I would agree when using a mil-spec trigger group. However, with the Rise trigger you don't have the trigger and hammer springs resting on the pins keeping the pins from walking out.
