I dropped some old choose your own adventure style PDFs into notebook LM and discovered they can be 'played' through the chat window interaction just by asking. Also the podcast was hilarious, but also incredible in it's ability to understand the larger context surrounding the books, like release period and the overall concept.

I've hear the EU thing is due to the EU AI Act, where the regulation hadn't anticipated such chatbots. My understanding is that the act effectively bans "Emotion recognition" in the workplace and schools. I can understand the reasoning at the time, but I don't think they realized they'd essentially banned "empathic" AI from those places as well.

Synth voices indistinguishable from humans' have been available to anybody for maybe a year now through eleven labs etc.
I fooled friends of mine with very very lousy sample of common friends voices. Relying on voices to recognise anyone has been unadvisable for more than one year .

I understand his test has been passed in the sense that statistically AI have been taken for humans most of the times. (I believe that he wouldn't give that much importance to his own test anyway).

I tried using this to help me fall asleep. It did a basic mindfulness exercise with me, and it COUNTED DOWN properly. As in, it timed the seconds properly, and even went "and pause for a bit" with room for that given before moving forward. It was so fluid it's insane. There's still a lot of room for improvement, but it's so useful already. I've also asked it to be mindful with the volume when I'm sleepy, and while it initially got "excited" along the words of the conversation, two proper corrections later I feel like it understood my request.

I been using voice chat for a while. I found it best for practicing Spanish, since it can correct pronunciation extremely well. It recognizes people that it has heard before from memories. It doesn't do as well with reading the room, something OpenAI has acknowledged.
One second: I live in Germany and I got access to advanced voice mode the first day it was rooled out to public back in July or something.

Extra hyped and busy sounding while conveying no substantial ideas or differing opinions. “Conversations” that aren’t really. Everyone agrees but it’s presented as an intellectual debate. Multiple newscasters, anchorpeople do it now all the time - three, four people yacking frenetically for no reason. Garnering fake engagement I think is what they’re going for. Or everyone has had too much coffee.

Anyone who knows anything about neural networks, this is exactly the reason behind their power and capabilities. They are pattern matching and greating their own emergent algorithms to get from Aish to Bish. However, while we can look under the hood at the insane amount of trained weights and biases, they tell us absolutely nothing, since they are not in a human understandable form, just like our intuition 😅

If you are from EU, VPN is all you need. I set my VPN to route only the ChatGPT app to USA so rest of my apps are unaffected, and the free plan of the VPN app is enough to cover the talking with advanced voice in ChatGPT. No big deal.

I will only be impressed once humanity step over and leave the ant-job economy behind. There's yet to explore, and a lot to fix before that happens.
It's ironic that we used to think that robots would take over the hard work and leave us with the creative and intellectual tasks. In reality, AI is excelling at those very tasks. But maybe this is a necessary step, because for robots to handle jobs that only humans can do, they need to think and react just like humans.
The singularity is only a few years away. I'm terrified. We've already entered a post-reality world, where *nothing* you can see on the internet can be trusted. It's only getting worse.

Right now, it can’t sing, beatbox, or even make non-human sound effects-it basically just talks and makes human noises. I think it’s probably due to copyright issues, but who knows? Maybe in the future, if they figure out how to pay royalties to the big companies their algorithms are trained on, things could change.
