Watched this video as I was eating a quick snack in my 01 GS300. Absolutely lovely cars & can definitely say they are bulletproof & dead reliable. Mine just passed a full inspection with 376k km on the dashboard. Runs & drives like a champion. It's my highway cruiser & will be for a while longer. Owned it for 5 years now & bought it with 217k km. Has been nothing but good to me
How about we stop making videos on hidden gems to keep their prices down, sheesh. People know about the Aristo but ppl dont talk about it for a reason because we aren't trying to make it another MK4, Chaser, Evo, EK9, GTR, Silva theme where they start selling for 30k+
I have a 1997 Aristo V300 that I imported to the States as soon as it became legal. I've had a GS400 in the past and it's so cool getting to experience both. Amazing car.
@@Brandon-n3k equipment differences, plus the powertrain has a completely different character. The GS400 has an immediate response with low-end torque, but the Aristo pulls harder once it's in boost.
Son picked up a clean bodied one with a blown motor from original owner, for 500 bucks as a parts car. He yanked heart out, used a Camaro ZL1 as a donor, 6.2L and all. Hes been enjoying it all summer after graduating. Hes now full time at our hot rod shop, and junkyard. He picked up a new body supra hes hoping to do a 2j swap into before next summer! Sheesh. And here I am just cruising my IS300 I bought new back in 01 hahaha....its still stock and low miled haha, has 38k original miles still haha. Though my 01 crew cab tacoma has 69k miles, my 90 accord has about 844k miles haha. My old crv I bought new in 2004? My son just swapped a new k motor, new trans, new radiator, new everything, as if its new again haha.
Thanks mate! Great to hear you're holding on to it. Spend 8k on a manual swap and you'll get that money back I reckon. There are a few gearbox options, the v160 from the mk4 supra are big bucks. Worth looking at the 350z gearbox, there's a company in the states that does a conversion kit including bell housing and tailshaft. A 2 way is ticket for sure 🤝
@@Ksilla007 you are right the Supra is a coupe that’s why I called it a 4 door Supra, they are about the same weight and come with the same motor Edit: the Supra is not a coupe it’s a hatchback
I do love my aristo. Planning to manual swap and single turbo mine. But you’ll know the struggle of having to get everything engineer certified for Aussie roads.
Hi Fred! I'm glad I bumped into you this morning in Terry Hills as you were setting up for your upcoming video of a cool 4cyl with remarkable mods. I''m looking forward to my son's thoughts on your videos. Your Aristo review reminds me of my Dad's 1986 VK Brock - it is always nice to drive a sleeper. (People might try to correct me about Dad's 1986 VK, which ended in 1985, but is was 1986 because it took months to go through the workshop - delivery and compliance took place in March 1986 - it was a white base model SL with full Group A Specs underneath. 🙂
The feeling is mutual! Thanks for the chat! The video should be up very soon 🤞you will be amazed by how it sounds. I'll put a teaser up tonight. Those Brocks were glorious, they're a 6 figure car these days though. We had a VL in the family when I was young, I have fond memories of that car. Hope your bottle turns up, and will catch you up that way again in the not too distant future 👍
Biggest problem that I have with the Aristo/GS is that they only came in automatic. I would probably more seriously consider one if it also came with a manual
@@fredssledshedI know they’ve been swapped numerous times before. It is indeed something to consider but it’d have to be a secondary car, not one replacing my IS200 Sportcross. I’ll give it some more serious though when I have the space for a project like that though😉
I got my 98 aristo about 6 months ago for 12k nzd its in perfect condition besides some paint blemishes. I still have no idea why the dude would actually take the low ball i threw 😭😭 im in love with it. Real bang for your buck
@fredssledshed yea bro, I was very lucky. You have great production for such a small channel. When is the next video? I would love some more on the jzs161 😊
I've found that a lot of people, particularly Ranger drivers, will be coming up behind you at the lights, and change lanes to try get in front of this 'Camry' ahead of them.
Hey man i have a 96 if you end up buying it some things that tend to go are the brake master cylinder the dash and ECU the brake accumulator is a massive pain to fix you can get it refilled or swap it with something else but you will lose Trac and abs
@Gibsons_jzs147 bought it a few days ago and runs great. It seems super healthy it has after-market ecu with a tune from L tuned it has upgraded brakes, and the guy I bought it from got it from a guy that imported it in 2018 and kept in a garage all its life in canada so came with zero rust and the interior looks mint
Just watched this after buying an aristo from Japan with that 2jzgte, I'm pumped👌🏽
Bro you have made a good choice! Sick car. Enjoy!

Love this! 386km is awesome, great to hear it's looked after. Driving highways are a good way to get thinking done 👍
I’ve owned my aristo for over 2 years which is long for me 😂, absolutely underrated cars ! Mine will stay with me for years to come !!
I have owned mine for 13 years and still going strong.
I drive a 2000 all pearl white GS400 V8 with 120k miles 👍
Bet it’s never let you down! Good rig never got those in Australia 😑
Underrated power houses! Thnx for the solid review mate

Sorry mate I'll take it down
Everyone know about Aristo. Most 2J swaps come from them. VIP people use them all the time. It’s not a secret car..
Don't take it down at all. I own an Aristo. Make my car worth more 😂

The Aristo is the Supra's daddy 👦🏻
Killer video!! The Aristo wasn't even on my radar - it certainly is now!! Thanks for the info!
