    Are you talking about me?... Ive rebuilt two TH400s. I'm 67 years old. Your videos helped tremendously. Thanks, and I'm still a dip-stick

    We have one of those flexible dip sticks that bolts through the pan and has a hydrophilic quick release. Its great. The only issue that we had was the nut needed to be machined to fit the aftermarket case. Let me tell you, that plug that you can use to plug the dipstick hole is awesome for removal of the transmission. Filling was easy too.

    I just found your channel. I am looking forward to watching your past video and learning some good old info. I don't know much about transmissions but I want to rebuild a 350 turbo for my 68 Chevelle just to get back on the road and have some fun with it

    I bought a lokar one because of the locking dipstick boot. I was having problems with fluid leaking out from the hole. I haven’t installed it yet tho.

    Hey Shawn, I’m guessing our conversation when I dropped off the tranny about how I bought one of those junks may have got you thinking more about how much you hate those dipsticks and helped you decide to do a little video on it lol. Well your welcome for the content and you will soon have one of those dipsticks for educational purposes because I would like to donate mine to the cause and will drop it off when I pick up the transmission.

    Thanks for all the videos Shawn! I tried the proform dipstick and it has to be bent just a little for a first gen S10 with the TH400 and LS engine!but I have another dipstick tube that the locking dipstick fits the tube and it has the o ring style seal. Fits with no modifications. I have a question: in your experience do you prefer the hat style seal or the o ring? Ever had issue with leaking with the o ring style? Well that was two questions. Thanks again for the videos! Keep’em coming!

      The o ring was fine before the top hat seal came along. The top hat is definitely more forgiving!
      Thanks for watching!

    I use those Proform locking dipsticks in my T400s. I liked them better when they were gold cad plated. Those flexible jobs ain't worth a damn.

    I had one of the “original” Lokar dipshits way back in the day, first time i had to add fluid i took it out ended up cutting 2 stock ones up welding them together to fit my V8 S10 that at the time still had AC

    Hey just got one of these dipstick tubes for an old 83 g3500 box van. Didn’t fit but after I tried a bit I noticed my old dipstick had a tapered end. Do they make a version with a tapered end to fit my thm400? Could use my own tube but it’s old and rusty so wanted a new one. Thanks!

    Seems like 3 gallons of Dexron would be way above the pan rail.

    I've noticed some dipsticks are labeled "universal" for th200, 2004r, th350 and th400. Are they universal, or should we look for transmission specific dipsticks?

    What would you do for a LS swapped G body where the passenger head is within 1/4 inch of the firewall?

    • @mountainsgarage
      @mountainsgarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Monte I did I moved the engine ahead 1”, made the driveshaft fit with the TH400, and solved the firewall problem.

      @@mountainsgarage Gotcha. This is going to be a street/strip car with a lean towards strip. That being said, I'm trying to keep the engine back as far as I can absolutely get it without modifying the firewall. I might have to get creative for a transmission dipstick tube though.

    Absolute piece of junk lol, I thought it was gonna be the best. I prefer factory tubes, even though mine is somewhat pinched between my LS head and firewall, but still works
