    Hi Maddy! I just got accepted into the Faculty of Science in Vancouver and I just wanted to come here to tell you my thanks! You have truly helped me throughout this process and I honestly don’t know if I would have gotten in without your advice! Thank you so much! ❤️

    Hi Maddie, Great video. University is hard but this is why it is even more rewarding down the road. If it was easy, you may also lose interest in doing it. Learning is not an easy journey for sure but it brings a lot of fun as well when you see your progress and get to build a network to share learning experiences and support! All the best, Michel

      Hello Santiago!
      I don't know if I will make a video for international students as I don't have much knowledge on the international student requirements or application process. I'm sure there are some videos on youtube somewhere? or blogs online? I likely will make another personal profile video... at some point. Hopefully soon!

    Hi Maddy! Thank you very much for your tips and videos. I was wondering if it is okay to take academic courses online or if UBC prefers courses to be taken in person? Thanks!

    • @MaddyA

      Hi! This is not really a choice for students. If the course is offered online then you can take it online, but if not, then you have to take it in person! It all depends :)

    Hello! I am currently in grade 11, and suppose my grades are not bad, (about 95% average) but I barely have any extracurriculars. However, I do volunteer outside of school. Do you think I need to join some clubs in gr12? I am worried that I might be too stressed out since I will be doing AP courses at the time....

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ran!
      You need to do what makes most sense for you. You need to make sure that you are prioritizing what is most important to you. With that in mind, if you join a club because you think you need to, rather than because you want to, you are joining for the wrong reason and UBC will see through that. I can't tell you exactly what UBC is looking for... I hope that helps?

    How did you get $7000 worth of merit based scholarship from your grades alone? Did you apply to something specific?

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They weren't really merit based scholarships - despite some of them being titled "bursary." A couple were community based academic scholarships. The one that could be considered "merit based" was the one where I was received a scholarship based on a personal challenge I had to overcome in highschool. So yes, there were a couple supplemental things I had to provide besides my grades for a couple of them.

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't receive any money from UBC. The scholarships I received were provincial and local. They look at whatever grades you apply with so that would most likely be your grade 11 and grade 12 grades.

    Do u recommend transferring majors? I want to go but I don’t think I can get in straight to sauder

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Once you are admitted, and depending on which faculty you are in, you won't have to declare your major until the end of 1st, 2nd, or even third year. It would only make sense to switch majors if you were unhappy in the one you chose.
      If you are talking about switching faculties, it is much more challenging but it is possible. I know one person who started in the Faculty of Arts and then switched into Sauder, keep in mind that Sauder evaluated her based on her first year arts GPA not her high school grades. On your application, specifically for UBC, you rank your first choice and second choice. So if you really want to be considered for Sauder put that down as your number one, and then have a 2nd choice you would be equally happy in. They will only consider you for your 2nd choice if your first choice is unsuccessful.
      Hope that helps!
