Hi! I’m a French prospective student at UBC and i’d like to ask some questions to someone about it. Could I get an email or whatever in order to ask those questions of mine ? :) thanks
This is my third year at UBC, and I love it. I've been lucky to be able to live at home in Richmond the whole time, so I haven't lived on campus. I imagine one of the benefits of a shared washroom is that a staff person cleans it, as opposed to the single joined washroom, which you might be expected to clean yourself. On the other hand, the shared washroom would be more likely to be subject to vandalism or sudden messiness.
I'm so excited, this is very informative!!! Thanks for the insight, as an international student, this is a great video to understand how Canadian schools are like.
I found this super helpful and I'm preparing ahead of time and am going to Highschool next year so this is an amazing guide for going here because this is my dream university. Thanks so much for posting
@Nishant Verma honestly it depends on what exactly you're doing in computer science. Both that and engineering are full on math. If your average is below 75 or 70 (from highschool) I wouldn't advise to do it for literally you will be living on logs and functions for those course. Also if you're taking IB courses (I am) then you have a greater chance of success as they teach you ahead of time how to do these things in highschool. Yes, computer science can be easier, but it involves a lot more of physics (which is also full on math). You do you, if you believe you'll succeed and will study your hardest go for it. In engineering be aware that over half of your classmates will fail or drop out by the 3rd lol it is super intense (much alike to medical school). Really uou need to focus on math as anything to do with computers, electronics, science and such.. it's sole purpose is math and how to branch off of it. Good luck 👍
This video was super informative and helpful for my sister, she's planning to apply there after finishing high school. Do you have any plans to make a video like this for Grad level students? Would love to see an honest review by a current grad student at ubc!
I don't know a whole lot of people doing their Master's right now, but maybe in the near future, when my contact network gets larger, a vid like that could be possible!
Is UBC hard to get in? the acceptance rate is over 50% on the net but I've heard so much on how it's apparently tough to get in (im an international student)
Doesn't matter if you're an international student. If you meet the admission requirements and you're what the school is looking for, you'll have a shot!

I commend you on that positive attitude. I, for sure, think you have a chance! What's done is done; you can't change your Grade 11 marks, but you can still work hard and kill your senior year! Good luck!
Unfortunately, the series has ended, at least for now. I am posting new videos weekly and I hope that you are enjoying them as much as you did this series!
I’m around an 85 percentage with volunteering, job experience and community involvement on my personal profile. Is that enough cuz I’m worried about my grades not being good enough. Already go rejected by commerce (which was kinda expected) but I’m really hoping for arts
I have a question: If I would like to get a psychology degree and go to law school should I take their juris doctor course for law, or just get a bachelor in arts?
The requirements for law school in terms of your undergrad are known to be very flexible. Study something you would enjoy and be able to obtain a high GPA. That would be beneficial for your application to law.

Hi, I have a question: It’s not anything related to admission requirements or the courses they offer but does UBC have certain dress codes that the students there have to follow or do they allow students to wear whatever they want and have whatever hairstyle they want? I’m asking this because I want to be careful in choosing what universities are suitable and safe for me to express myself.
Is a (Texas GPA scale) 3.6 unweighted and 4.3 weighted GPA good for UBC? I also graduated highschool with an associates of science. I took extra curricular's like HOSA, UIL, Youth and Gov, Track, NHS, the academic sweatshirt, and 200 community service hours.
UBC is looking for well-rounded students and if you think you fit that mold, definitely apply! Admissions don't work like a checklist, the committee looks at your application holistically, so it is difficult to predict if doing ____ and ____ will get you in. Nonetheless, continue developing yourself for the strongest portfolio possible!

Yup, in Canada, high school is grades 9-12. UBC has a great architecture program. You def want to be studying hard, but also make sure you're developing your portfolio
hi hi :D fall 2021 incoming student here! ubc only looks at your 11&12 grades (or equivalent if ur an international student) so dont sweat too much abt 9th grade!
I wouldn't see why not. Walking around the campus and going inside buildings should be fine as long as you're not disturbing any teaching or studying. It's important for you to get a feel for the school!
The question I get asked 3884743 times... AHA! The answer is: no... BUT Gr9 and 10 is foundational for science, math, and English. If you slack off, you may have a very difficult time in the later years. Also, high school learning/testing is very different from elementary so use those early years to experiment study techniques & time management. I have a video on how to take notes & study if you're interested!
With any school, early acceptance relies heavily on your Grade 11 marks, so make sure you're working hard during that time. I got early acceptance programs at the University of Toronto and University of Waterloo, so it's definitely something to aim for.
Depends on the program. Keep in mind that you may not have the pre-reqs to change... so do your research! But if you are truly unhappy with your program, then I would suggest finding something that better suits you

Do your grades in grade 9 and 10 matter?
The question I get asked 3884743 times... AHA! The answer is: no... BUT Gr9 and 10 is foundational for science, math, and English. If you slack off, you may have a very difficult time in the later years. Also, high school learning/testing is very different from elementary so use those early years to experiment study techniques & time management. I have a video on how to take notes & study if you're interested!
Do they have basketball games

for early bird applicants, does ubc check your grade 11 grades mostly?
With any school, early acceptance relies heavily on your Grade 11 marks, so make sure you're working hard during that time. I got early acceptance programs at the University of Toronto and University of Waterloo, so it's definitely something to aim for.
how difficult is it to switch to a major outside of your program?
Depends on the program. Keep in mind that you may not have the pre-reqs to change... so do your research! But if you are truly unhappy with your program, then I would suggest finding something that better suits you
