thank you so much for making these videos! i’m coming from Manitoba and my advisors aren’t familiar with applications outside of Manitoba which makes getting advice a little more difficult while i’m currently trying to write my personal profile, this is very helpful!
Damn, I just completed my application right now and came back to your video. Thank you so much for these vids. It is really hard to find advice related to Canadian Universities and you have done a really great job!!
Hey Maddy, I have a question about the references. I read somewhere that one of the references is compulsory to be one of your teachers from a Grade 11 or Grade 12 class. Is that true? I am asking because I want to add one of my references as a Grade 10 teacher, she has been contact with me continuously throughout Grade 11 and Grade 12 too so she completely knows me.
@@MaddyA Nono don't even! You don't know how helpful you are being to me in this application period especially with your videos. All good, I will message UBC Twitter handle :)
Hey, could you let me know if I should make a mention of the 3 certificates I've done, which are relevant to my applying faculty? I just want to write them in one of the extracurricular's I've not, I won't mention it in my long answer essay. I hope you can answer soon as the deadline is really close. I appreciate your efforts very much!
Hi! I can't totally remember but I think there were 4 big questions and a couple smaller ones...My personal profile series dedicates a video to each question so I *think* it's 4.
Hi Maddy, what does it mean when it says "You will be asked for a reference who can speak to your response" in the prompt you talked about in this video? I am asking for clarification because I am unsure of what to do for this specific section. I am confused if I need to include some words from my reference speaking in my response or if I don't need to do that. I could use some help.
Hi Daniel! No you do not necessarily need to include what your reference has said about you. You will need to include a reference (a person) who is able to speak to the activity you’ve chosen to write about - someone who organized, oversaw, worked with you, was your boss etc that can speak to this activity. This could be a teacher, a community member... does that help?
@@MaddyA So just to clarify, I don't need to include any information that my reference says about me in my response? And when it says "You will be asked for a reference", does that mean just in general, like I can just include a community member that can speak to my response as one of my two references?
@@danielwang9035 Correct! You don't need to include anything that your reference says in your response. You don't need to mention who they are either. There will be a place for you on the application to enter in your references name and contact.
Hey Maddy, sick stuff, I rate your videos! By the way I am a student in the UK who wants to study at UBC but the required grades are unclear - it says I need a mixture of A's and B's. My predicted grades are AAB for Business, Accounting and maths A-levels and my ECs are captain of cricket team, employee at subway, free personal trainer at the gym, taught myself how to trade currency markets and volunteering at charity shops etc. Do you think this is good enough to be accepted into UBC Sauder Bcom? I am gonna submit application this week so...any tips would be amazing. Also, I have a question about what social issue I contributed to something like that. I wrote about me starting a business, which has a mission of reducing the use of single use plastic bags by creating a product made from jute and has unique storage capacity. Would that count? Or shall I put in something else? I want the best chance of getting in so I just don't wanna put in something that isn't relavent. Your videos help so much, I can't even explain it!
Most of the responses are about 250 words. I beleive this one is 350 words and for the short descriptions of individual activities, its only 50. I can't remember exactly which is which though.

Hi! I don't believe it has to be a teacher from grade 11 or 12 but I will double check with UBC if you are unsure. Sorry I can't be of more help!

Hi! If the certificate is relevant to something you talk about in your personal profile, then it doesn't hurt to include it!

Is the word limit 250 words?
It depends on the question!
@@MaddyA Do you remember what the limit was for "What did you learn?" one?
@@johnkang6088 I don't sorry! The official questions will be released soon (once the applications for this year open)
