Hi Wendy! The Arteza Expert Colored Pencils are sparse in the US, too! It's been months since I have been able to get the Greens I need. I wrote to them about the Pencils, and the reply was to purchase the 120 set! I am extremely dissatisfied with Arteza. I have purchased the Arrtx and Kalour Colored Pencils.
Oh right interesting, I thought you guys seemed to be getting loads of stuff compered to us here, I don't think I'm buying anything from them again here. I feel like they don't seem to want to operate here, so much stock out of stock all year. They defiantly aren't doing those packets of three pencils here anymore, and I'm not buying the 120 every time I need a pencil. The 120 isn't even that cheap (If they even have any) I'm enjoying the Arrtx so I will just use them, they are cheaper, and easier to catch on offer anyway. ❤️👍 (Kalours are sadly also tricky to get over here)
What a great video. Thanks for sharing. The Caran d'Ache Museum Aquarelle definitely have more skin tone colours than the FC Albrecht Durer. There are even some marked X% "flesh". They only have 72 in the range, but they are far and away the best watercolour pencils. You can purchase individual Holbein pencils from Blicks in the US (or is it Jerrys Artorama?), but I don't know what the postage would be like to the UK. The Derwent Drawing are amazing - I wish they would expand the set (as well as the Inktense). The Derwent Chinese White is the second best white pencil (after the Holbein Soft White). The Uni Posca white is also very very good. And the absolute best white gel pen is the Uni Signo gel pen in white - it's the 1.0 mm nib, so it's not super fine, but it covers like nothing else. And the Stabilo blender pencil is also excellent, but sometimes hard to find.
Aaah, right, yes I think the Luminance are marked in skin %'s so perhaps the same, I need to get a colour chart and work out which ones would be worth a try👍 Fortunately I can get Holbeins from Jacksons Art in the UK, as yes I think the postage to me would be shocking from the US for a few pencils. I like the Signo white, but I find mine always start skipping after a while, which can be frustrating, perhaps as I'm using more waxy pencils? I did use it a lot, but gave up a bit with it after battling too much with them. I've not tried the Stabilo blender, I will have to keep and eye out for it, also good to give something new a try. Ooooooooo, I like the sticker paper idea. I numbered my Prismacolor pencil case so I know where each pencil goes but I love the idea of the swatch there too. Thank you! 👏🏻❤️
Yes, I love having my cases like this, saves a lot of messing about with swatches, and makes putting them all back in the case a lot easier as well. Im delighted if its been helpfu to you, x ❤️👍🤞
That was very enjoyable. I have a cold and lying down is horrible so I'm sat up colouring at nearly 4am and you kept me company for some of that time. I have shiny paint envy! You are so right about the Derwent Burnisher! What the heck are they for? Sharpening knives?!

Well at least I'm getting my moneys worth out of them.😆🤣 I did feel like that with them when they first arrived, they just looked so beautiful in their packaging, I felt like I could never use them. I deliberately took them out of the box, and put them into a pencil case, and then they felt less like a collectors item. I love using them, and yes they are pricey, but I enjoy them, so they worth it to me. I can get loose stock, so I know I only need to replace handfuls now which isn't as painful. I do love the Arrtx as well, they are a great buy, xx❤️💗

Thanks Gaga, Hmm, now you are asking, _ goes to count it! 🤣 I think its 360, its one of those with slots that fit 3 pencils in, so that's how I've counted it. I wanted something that would fit, 100 Luminance, 100 lightest and 150 Holbeins. I did get it from Ali-express, as I couldn't see one like it on Amazon uk at the time. The only ones they had, weren't the hard backed versions, and I really don't like those. I'd have preferred it to have had one slot per pencil, but I'm guessing that would make it even bigger. Bruts have gone in my normal sharpener ok, sometimes had to sharpen them first in a hand sharpener, but then they fit in the normal ones after that. 👍❤️
I love the swatch/label in pencil case. I have struggled with how to deal with putting them back in some kind of proper order! Going to start working on that right now. Thanks….am I the only who’s hobby seems to be organizing, swatching art supplies as much as colouring 🤪. I’ve only been in the hobby for 18 months…I’m guessing that subsides as I climb the acquisition/learning curve?
Well, I feel the organising means the "using them" is easier, so to me, its worth it. 👍 Its takes a little bit of time to start with, but then its so easy putting stuff away, (Unless it the arrtx set, as reading anything on them is a nightmare🤣) Im probably not the person to ask about subsiding buying, as I seem to still be buying years later!🤣😆
Oh super, they have lasted me ages, they are quite subtle, but I do love them as they dry flat, and don't effect the texture of the page. Lets be honest wish lists are never ending, I keep thinking I'm done, then I see something else I can't live without!🤣😂 Its all fun though, xx 💗❤️

The huge pink one? It’s from Ali-express, I wanted a large one, but one with the hard backing, I couldn’t find one like that on Amazon. I’ve had it about a year, I’ve been pleased with it. It does weight quite a lot, but as it lives on my desk mostly that’s fine👍🏼 I think it’s supposed to hold 360.

Such a good video Wendy , I love seeing colourists favourites. I’m about to bite the bullet and buy the Arrtx 126 , do I need them …. No ! But do I want them ….. yes I do ! I do the same as you and pair my pencils up and I love my Brutfuner macarons with my luminance so I’ll pair up my Colorya with the Arrtx . You know when you get a pencil that breaks I do superglue the tip back in ( it’s a faff I know ) they sharpen again just fine . Sending love your way 😊x

Depends on the page Im working on I think, If I want bright colours, (which often I do) then Holbein every time, their colours just feel a bit brighter and more vivid. If its a more natural page, or i need darker pigments then Luminance are my go to. (If they weren't so costly I'd use Holbeins for every page I did!) I did get my Holbeins first, they are serious investment, and aren't the easiest to find, but I've never regretted buying them. They do feel differently to other pencils though, and I'd always suggest getting a few loose stock before buying sets of any serious Artist pencils, as they are a costly mistake to buy if they aren't for you. I generally tend to use these two sets together, but I have built them up over many years, so I do get its hard to know where to start. xx Hth, x👍

Hi Shelly, thanks so much for giving me a watch. Yes, I've already made a video on my watercolour paints. It will be pretty far back in my videos, as it was pretty early in my you tube journey. Not sure if this will link, but it should be here- th-cam.com/video/9ympliKVOB4/w-d-xo.html Like you I wanted more colours of metallic, but didn't want to have to pay huge money. There are still costs involved, but it was much less to make so many paints, than buy them, and I know I can make more if I need. It's basically Mica powder, (very cheap on Amazon) Gum arabic (again you can get it in powder form from amazon) and a bit of good quality honey. Some people put clove oil in as well, to stop mould forming, but I've been using my paints all year and not had any issues like that, so it's not something I'd add. By all means give the video a watch, and let me know if you have any questions. Do make sure you use a mask, you don't want to breath in Mica Powder, x 👍

Tough question, I suppose it depends on what pencils you are using, as one size does not fit all. I just use the metal ones from Amazon, as they fit my Holbeins/Luminance/Derwent successfully. But I'd imagine they will be no use for Prisma's or Derwent Chromaflows, as they are so thin. I still need to find a good extender for these. I have one CarenD'ache red pencil extender, that oddly doesn't fit any of my CarenD'ache pencils, but fits Prisma's beautifully. It was pricey though, so I won't be getting more. Omg that tiny green pencil 😮. I never think to use my holbeins,probably cos they ridiculously expensive. Love the Arrtx pencils.
